During the first frosty week in December, Lena packed up her penthouse and moved into a grand three-story house in the heart of Midvale. The place was a far cry from the busy cities where she grew up. Her new land included a vast farm with cows and sheep, and acres upon acres of corn, tomatoes, and other vegetables. She endured a lot of jokes from her business associates any time she mentioned her decision to lead a quieter lifestyle. The only supportive person was her best friend Sam, who had moved out to the rural town because her alpha was Midvale born-and-bred.

Lena lived on the same street as her best friend, and all around her many of the houses started to decorate for Christmas time. Each lamppost had a large red bow and lights, and at night Lena spotted families walking along together — including Sam and her mate Alex with their two pups running between them. Sometimes Lena made herself cozy in a chair with a large mug of tea and pretended that her life could be just as charming.

In the next year, she would certainly have a baby to push down the street in a carriage, but she wouldn’t have a mate by her side. She hadn’t told anyone that she was knocked up, although Sam knew about her incredible one-night stand in the middle of October. It happened during a Halloween party with all of Lena’s work acquaintances and her long-time friends from the city — Andrea, Jess, Kelly and Sam. They had all brought plenty of alphas along, and at the time Lena couldn’t have been more grateful for the eye candy.

Lena’s heat had come on suddenly, and she handled it the same way she always did. She chose the buffest alpha at the party to raw her into oblivion - only this time it was actual oblivion. She couldn’t remember the alpha’s name in the morning when she woke up, thanks to a combination of extreme horniness, too many cocktails and the mystery alpha’s extravagant costume. A lot of people had dressed the same, and Lena’s descriptions of the alpha turned up at least a dozen candidates that could be Lena’s hook-up. She supposed it wouldn’t much matter in the long run, since she didn’t expect anyone to co-parent a child with her after one wild night. She just felt a responsibility to let the alpha know about the pregnancy.

On the other hand, Lena preferred to keep it a secret from everyone for a while, since she was still getting accustomed to the idea of being a single mother. She liked having Sam’s kids around, and she believed she would make an adequate parent once she became more accustomed to the idea. The issue was going through childbirth at the end of the pregnancy. She read stories on social media that tormented her dreams. One omega mentioned that her son clawed his way out.

In between learning more about her body than she ever wanted to know, and fixing up her home, Lena tried not to think about the months ahead. She kept herself busy by hiring people to help with her newly acquired animals. Her neighbor Kara was also a wonderful resource. Kara was the town vet, and coincidentally Alex’s younger sister.

Around the time that Lena’s morning sickness seemed to be hitting the hardest, Kara knocked on her door after finishing a check-up with the animals.

Lena pulled on a thick cardigan and greeted Kara with a green face. “How did it go?”

The cheery smile on Kara’s lips never faltered despite the way her eyes danced over Lena’s waxy complexion. Then she uttered something so personal that Lena nearly fainted. “Congratulations, you’re officially pregnant!”

In a bout of paranoia, Lena grabbed the fool by the front of her jacket and pulled her inside so fast that Kara nearly tripped over the threshold. “How do you know that?” Lena hissed under her breath and stared incredulously at Kara like she had x-ray vision. She backed the alpha into a wall with nothing more than a glare and tightened her cardigan with a dramatic pull across her middle.

“Well, when you’ve handled as many animals as I have, it’s really easy to tell,” Kara explained with wide eyes that kept darting below Lena’s chin.

Lena exhaled a scandalized breath and reeled from the insult of being considered nothing more than livestock. She straightened up with murder on her mind and it must have flashed in her eyes.

Kara held up her hands and laughed anxiously. “Most people are happy to have spring lambs. They’re really cute.”

“What?” Lena spat in horror.

The misunderstanding drained the color from her face, and she blinked rapidly as her outrage turned to panic.

“Three of your sheep are expecting,” Kara clarified with a bewildered squint.

Lena could see Kara trying to connect the dots between her weird response and her hostile behavior. In any other setting, she would have claimed she was wound up from stress, but that was hardly the case when she was supposed to be relaxing in the country.

Lena tugged the idiot by the beefy arm and practically forced her into a chair at the kitchen table. She loathed that she didn’t have it in her to lie, but she figured it was a good failsafe if someone, anyone knew about her condition. Who better than her neighbor, especially since Kara had some limited medical experience?

“Look, you’re Alex’s sister,” Lena reflected out loud and frowned down at the confusion on Kara’s face. “Sam is the closest friend I have, so I need to swear you to secrecy, because I don’t want this information getting back to either of them—”

“What information?” Kara blinked and set her teeth in a bizarre smile that looked like it could become a cringe at any second.

“I’m pregnant,” Lena breathed and pulled her cardigan tight again as Kara’s eyes instinctively swept downward to her stomach. “It’s one of the big reasons I moved here, because my busy city life was too stressful. I’ve had terrible morning sickness and I know next to nothing about babies. I have about seven months to figure out how to be a good parent.”

Kara probably felt as shocked as Lena did about the confession, and for a good five seconds they stared awkwardly at one another. The silence felt heavy and Kara opened her mouth almost as wide as her eyes before she finally managed to string words together.

“Well, golly, no wonder you looked ready to knock my head off! That’s quite a predicament you’re in.” Kara’s smile faltered like she only just realized what she said, and her eyes landed on Lena’s unclaimed neck as she formed her own conclusions. “The secrecy! Not the - not the pup. I’m sorry you’re going through that alone.”

“That part doesn’t bother me. I’m simply not ready to tell anyone yet,” Lena pointedly stated, and telepathically tried to get Kara on board with keeping her mouth shut.

“Oh! My lips are sealed,” Kara insisted and made a ridiculous gesture of zipping her mouth shut.

The tension between them remained until Kara nervously moved as though ready to flee.

Lena stopped her in her tracks by rounding on her with a kettle and raised a sculpted brow as she drawled calmly, “They had better be, because you’re the only one in the world that knows about this. If word gets out, I will find you. Tea?”

Uh-” Kara’s hesitancy was met with a squint from Lena and the alpha promptly forced a smile onto her face. “Coffee? And you don’t really mean that, right?”

Lena drew herself up to her full height to regard Kara with a cold and critical flick of her lashes. She had perfected her business bitch facade years ago and it served her well when she wanted to instil fear and respect.

“Don’t be fooled by my appearance, Kara, I’m financially capable of ruining any alpha. You don’t want to cross me.”

“Wow, you really brought that big city attitude with you.” Kara laughed, though her eye twitched and she very obviously glanced at Lena with interest. “I actually — I meant the part about only me knowing. Have you contacted a doctor here? You’ll be due for a check-up soon, and while I can’t help with that, I’m pretty sure I can remedy your morning sickness.”

Lena perked up at the thought of a cure for her ailment. She expected a recommendation for a prescription, and not the bizarre drink Kara concocted from items in her kitchen. Kara grabbed a clean glass from the counter and sliced up fresh ginger, along with other ingredients. The garnish on top involved a sprinkle of black pepper and Lena balked at the scent of the drink. She pinched her nose to swallow as much as she could in one go.

“I wouldn’t usually gulp something like this down, but I’m desperate,” Lena intoned and dropped the glass on the countertop just to freeze as Kara took hold of her wrist.

Kara pressed down on a several pressure points, and Lena wondered if her relief was real or simply a placebo effect. She eventually realized that she liked having Kara close to her and that her worst symptoms appeared to subside whenever her neighbor was in her house.

Day after day, Kara dropped by to take care of her, and Lena couldn’t help but look forward to it—in part because she was feeling better, and in part because Kara made good company. A week in, Kara showed up in a blue flannel and fitted trousers, and Lena spent a long time watching her with the animals.

Lena didn’t normally step outside or handle any of the tasks related to animal care, mostly because she was sick and had hired people to help with that. She rarely ventured out to the barn or yard since buying the place, but she pulled on a coat and joined Kara.

“Do you want to go into town with me this morning?” Lena asked, blurting out the invitation with a blush creeping across her neck. “I was hoping you would accompany me to that big country store so I can get what I need for the winter. Then maybe we could make a few other stops, grab some lunch—“

Kara pulled a rag from her back pocket and wiped her hands. “I’d love to do that. I just have one more appointment scheduled this morning. Want to tag along?”

“Oh, sure, why not?”

There were plenty of reasons why Lena shouldn’t, but it would have been rude to say as much. Lena couldn’t refuse after throwing out her own invitation, and the smile on Kara’s face went a long way in settling her fears of what she might see.

It was a little odd to be bundled into Kara’s truck, and the fresh farm air complemented the natural earthy smell of the alpha when she hopped into the driver’s side of the large vehicle.

“This won’t take long, so don’t worry,” Kara mentioned, probably because Lena was sitting there with a tense grimace on her face.

She realized her discomfort wasn’t nearly as bad as she suspected it should be.

Since when was she comfortable in other people's vehicles, especially when there was dirt on the floor mats? Lena puzzled over that for most of the drive, and Kara filled the silence with soft chatter.

Lena found out that Kara decided to become a large animal vet long ago, when she was running around her parents’ farm as a child.

“I always loved the outdoors. I used to pretend the animals were my friends. My mom told me she found me in the chicken coop as a baby. She regretted that when I tried to camp out there.” Kara laughed and glanced at Lena as she pulled onto a long dirt road up to another farm. “I mean, I was four, but it was funny when the rooster attacked my sister for trying to get me out of the hutch. That totally convinced me I belonged there.”

“You wanna come say hi to our neighbors?” Kara asked and jumped down to help Lena out of the truck before she had even gotten the chance to answer.

The Joneses were a friendly pair. They welcomed Kara like she was family and waved Lena through the gate with bright smiles.

“Lena, this is Meghan and Jon. Lena just got here a few weeks ago.” Kara was quick to introduce her, and she grinned as Meghan immediately stepped in to shake Lena’s hand.

“We’ve only been here about six years ourselves, but it was the best decision we ever made. We don’t have much in the way of animals like some of the others–”

“Don’t you listen to her, Lena. They practically have a whole petting zoo here,” Kara teased, and pointed to where two goats, a pot belly pig, and several rabbits all roamed in a large pen. “Jon has his own beehives out back. They make the best darn mead you’ll ever taste.”

Meghan rolled her eyes and confided to Lena, “Kara is a sweet one, and one of the main reasons we ended up staying here. We had no clue how to look after these animals, but she put us right at ease.”

“On that note, I’ll just go ahead and get their hooves trimmed,” Kara announced and made her way into the pen with Jon.

It was the first time Lena noticed the pair of clippers in Kara’s hand, and she watched her fondly as she greeted every animal. The pig snuffled into her pocket and wanted the most affection, and Kara doled out love in return. It was a sight Lena never knew she needed in her life until that moment.

Kara held out scraps of vegetable peels and the pig ate them from her hand. The large animal behaved as Kara began her work, and Lena scooped up one of the bunnies to pet.

“Lena, this is Waddles the pig, and you’re holding Socrates.” Kara gestured to the floppy-eared creature and removed a couple of instruments from her kit.

“It’s nice to meet both of you.” Lena stood near the pot belly pig and watched its tail swish with joy.

It made her more determined to bond with her own animals, despite her inexperience with farm work. She didn’t mind getting a little muddy so long as she could observe Kara’s activities and help to the best of her ability.

“I wasn’t allowed to have pets as a child, so all of this is new to me,” Lena commented and placed the bunny back with his companions. “You’ve inspired me to get more hands on.”

Kara’s face tinged a modest red at Lena’s remark and she beckoned her over to assist. “Well, come on then, I’ll show you how to trim a pig’s hooves.”

It wasn’t as unpleasant as Lena thought it would be, and while she was petting Waddles, she realized that she should embrace the change of lifestyle more.

“The trick is to pet him until he gets sleepy. Plus, he loves the tummy rubs, don’t you, buddy?” Kara asked Waddles, who flopped onto his side and allowed Kara to inspect his hooves.

Lena observed the alpha with real interest, and Kara showed her how to first clear away the impacted mud, and how to trim the edges of his nails carefully.

“Pigs, goats and cows are all relatively the same when it comes to this but I wouldn’t ever do this to a cow without having them penned first because if they kick, it can be pretty brutal.” Kara smiled up at Lena as she rubbed Waddle’s tummy and scratched near his ears.

“You say that like you’ve experienced it,” Lena stated and watched as Kara remained on her knees and beckoned one of the goats over. She cleaned off its hooves and trimmed the excess without any fuss.

“Oh, I’ve had my fair share of bruises and mishaps over the years but I don’t hold it against them. Not everyone likes getting a forced mani-pedi,” Kara joked and stood up to dust herself off.

The goats bounced around the pen as if they were pleased and Lena gasped as one veered towards Kara to headbutt her on the ass.

Kara didn’t appear fazed, and stumbled as she laughed, “Yeah, you appreciate it, don’t you Goat-zart?”

The goat bleated in agreement and tried to nibble the end of Kara’s shirt. Waddles interpreted it as if there was more food, and before long all the animals except the rabbits had cornered Kara.

“Come on now, leave Kara be or you’ll keep her here all day,” Jon called out and flung a bucket of scraps into the pen to distract them while Lena and Kara escaped.

“Something tells me you wouldn’t mind that,” Lena murmured under her breath.

“Normally you’d be right, but I’m looking forward to grabbing that lunch you mentioned.” Kara waved goodbye to the Joneses and her smile remained during the whole walk back to the truck. She opened the passenger door for Lena and fiddled with the radio for their short ride into town.

The older buildings must have been around since the place was established, and Lena hoped she would fit in to the rural culture.

“So, do you have any other friends that live around here that aren’t four legged?” Lena intoned and glanced over at her rugged companion.

At first, she hadn’t warmed up to Kara, in spite of the natural magnetism that sprang up between them. She considered Kara a friend and nothing more than that, though they had good chemistry and could strike up a decent banter.

“Uh, yeah, of course, what was it that made you think I don’t have friends?” Kara snort-laughed and parked on the road in front of a candy shop.

“It’s just that this doesn’t seem like a town with much of an active social scene. How do you meet anyone?” Lena quirked an eyebrow at the peculiar expression on Kara’s face, which was both daunted and smiley.

“I meet people all of the time,” Kara weakly insisted and flailed with the car door as she hopped out.

Lena laughed at the discomfort she inspired and followed Kara into the local diner. They settled down across from each other, and she posed her next question about small town dating. “It might not be any of my business, but when was the last time you went out with someone?”

Kara blinked and seized a menu from a holder on their table. She pushed it in front of Lena and reached for three packets of sugar, even though they didn’t have their coffee yet.

“Come on, I need to know what to expect,” Lena demanded when it seemed like Kara wouldn’t give her a straightforward answer. “It’s not like I’m looking to date anyone now, since I’m you-know-what, but I don’t want to be lonely for the rest of my life, either. We’re friends, aren’t we?”

“Of course we’re friends,” Kara wheeze-laughed and remembered to breathe as their waitress placed empty cups in front of them.

“Regular or decaf?” The waitress asked, holding both freshly brewed pitchers.

“Decaf,” Lena sulked and temporarily held back on her barrage of questions.

“Regular, please,” Kara replied and shook out a sugar packet. “Thank you, Margot.”

The waitress grunted, poured them both hot cups of coffee, and pivoted on her heel to return to the counter.

“Dish, as an alpha to an omega, what is your sex life like?” Lena knew it was bold to dive into these topics at lunch, and she attributed it to being newly pregnant and horny. “Don’t alphas usually love to brag to their friends about their conquests?”

“I don’t brag.” Kara cringed at that term like it was a curse and then dumped another pack of sugar into her coffee. “Honestly, it’s been a little while for me. I don’t like random hook-ups.”

“Well, tell me about the last time,” Lena persisted and pulled Kara’s mug away before she added even more sweetness. “Do you realize you just emptied four sugar packets into your cup?”

Kara tugged the cup and saucer back and lifted a small metal cream jug from the side of the table. “Yep, and I’m about to add lots of cream because it’s delicious.”

“Give me some,” Lena flirted, completely forgetting herself as she offered up her cup.

In her active imagination, Kara’s breathing changed again, and they experienced strong sexual tension for a few moments. Kara poured out the cream and Lena took a sip immediately so that she would have to wipe some off her lips. For the first time since receiving a positive result on her pregnancy test, Lena felt the desire to take someone home—anyone—and she needed pointers from Kara on how to date in a small town without leading to awkwardness.

It would have been all too easy to choose Kara as a fling, except now she was much too reliant on their friendship. Lena didn’t want to ruin their daily hang-outs or give up the frequent help with her pregnancy symptoms.

“So, are you going to tell me about the last time you hooked up with an omega?” Lena pouted, blushing as she realized the older waitress had come back to take their orders.

Margot scoffed at her desperate behavior and swung her attention to Kara like they were family. “Who’s this?”

“Lena. She’s new to town.” Kara scrambled to cover for Lena and reached for the menu in her hand. “Do you know what you want?”

“An alpha who can dominate me,” Lena whispered to herself and flipped through the laminated pages of greasy options. “I’ll have a waffle with the syrup and cream on the side.”

Margot rolled her eyes and grabbed the menus with a glance back at Kara. “The usual?”

“Yeah, same as always,” Kara responded and bit her lip nervously as she realized she was alone with Lena again.

“How long have you been ordering the same thing for the waitress to dub it your usual?” Lena asked with obvious judgment and squinted at Kara’s flustered complexion.

She watched Kara’s telltale tic of tucking her chin towards her chest and waited for an answer with a raised brow.

“As long as I can remember. I’m a creature of habit.” Kara finally muttered with a forced laugh and lifted her mug of coffee to shield herself from the probing.

Lena waited for Kara’s lips to pucker around the rim and then uttered smugly, “You mean you’re boring. Now I understand why you don’t want to talk about hooking up. You’re probably as basic as they come in the bedroom, huh?”

Kara very nearly accosted her with the spray of coffee that shot out of her mouth. Some of it came down her nose as she choked, and she gasped and sputtered while she wiped at her face with a napkin.

“I’m not basic, I-I have…” Kara floundered as people at other tables glanced their way. She turned a scandalized beet red and avoided Lena’s stare as she hissed in mortification, “Skills.”

Their conversation paused the second Margot slid a plate under Lena’s nose. She handed off a towering milkshake to Kara, and set down a generous plate of stacked pancakes, crispy bacon, eggs over easy, hash browns and syrup.

Kara thanked her and popped her lips around the straw in her shake like a happy five year old.

Lena didn’t mean to stare, and the moment their eyes met, she bristled at the heat she felt from Kara licking at her lips.

“If your ‘go-to’ moves are missionary and having an omega on all fours, then you’re more vanilla than that milkshake you’re slurping,” Lena assessed so matter of fact that it bordered on hostility.

She witnessed a flurry of emotion pass across Kara’s face, from offended to wounded, and ultimately combative, if the sudden potency of her pheromones was to be believed.

“I’ll have you know I’ve never had any complaints,” Kara insisted and went so far as to lean her elbow on the table to set the record straight. “In fact, the last omega I was with couldn’t believe my stamina, and she liked that I took the lead. She begged me to lift her up while we rutted, and I think we ruined several pieces of furniture that night.”

“So, you don’t brag, but you do flex, huh?” Lena bit her lower lip as she casually checked out Kara’s arms.

It wasn’t entirely her fault that she tried to construct an image of the buff alpha raising her into the air, and her pregnancy hormones caused her to spasm inside.

The confidence Kara showed diminished considerably, and she blushed and dropped her eyes to the plate in front of her. “You asked for details, and now you have them. Is there anything else you want to pry out of me, or are we good to eat?”

Lena weighed her options and lifted her fork to point the tongs at Kara, because she wasn’t done needling her for information. “Are we going to run into her in town?”

“Not likely,” Kara muttered somewhat sadly and dug her fork into her pancakes. “She never called me in the morning.”

“What if you introduce me to someone and I’ll return the favor?” Lena inquired, poking at her waffle and eyeing the people at the diner that she didn’t know. “Choose the friend you like the least, so it won’t get awkward.”

Her friend-swap sounded like a good idea in theory as long as she didn’t get attached. She envisioned a reasonable arrangement that involved sexual release and the occasional back rub. It occurred to her too late that Kara might form a bad opinion of her just for proposing an unconventional solution to their shared loneliness.

“I don’t mean to be crude by making this the topic of our lunch conversation.” Lena waved her hand apologetically and locked eyes with Kara to divulge her worries. “Maybe I’m just afraid that I won’t be desirable soon.”

The vulnerability of that statement softened Kara’s posture, and she shook her head like she wanted to disagree, but she didn’t. Instead she nibbled at her lower lip in consideration and leaned on the table to whisper, “If that’s what you want, I know an alpha that might interest you. You like tall guys, right?”

“Who doesn’t?” Lena remarked and freed her cell phone from her pocket to scroll through her own friends’ list with the focus of a CEO working out a deal. She wanted to find a compatible omega, so that if her Kara got laid, it would increase her own chances of Kara setting her up with a stud in the future if this one didn’t work out.

“Why don’t we schedule a double date for Friday? That gives everyone time to clear their schedule, and it means if either of us aren’t feeling it, we’re in a safe group setting.”

“Friday sounds good. This might actually be fun. I’ve never gone on a blind date before, let alone a double one.” Kara grinned apprehensively and shot off a quick text to her friend, who responded almost immediately. “James says he can’t wait to meet you.”

“That’s great, and I know the perfect woman for you,” Lena bragged with luminous eyes that homed in on an omega’s name.

In exchange for Kara setting her up, Lena texted Sam’s friend and sometimes babysitter, Eve Tessmacher. Out of all her friends and acquaintances, Eve lived the closest, and Lena figured that any alpha would appreciate her bubbly personality. Failing that, Eve had a lot of other wonderful assets, including her crinkly blonde hair and incredible rack.

“That’s settled then,” Kara breathed, neglecting most of the food that was spread out in front of her. “Should we head out and buy what you need?”

“You hardly touched your breakfast,” Margot complained from where she was pouring out coffee for a couple at the nearest table. “Are you feeling alright?”

“Me? I’m good—just—just dandy.” Kara shook her head and scooted out of the booth first.

Lena took the check from their waitress and paid for their breakfast at the counter. They wandered back outside to a light snowfall dusting the truck and the scent of a wood fire in the air.

The shopping trip took longer than Lena expected, in part because she was overwhelmed by supplies she required to properly stock up for winter.

Kara took over and ordered it with her blessing, then carted it out to her truck while Lena browsed the shelves for frivolous things that caught her eye. She was exhausted just from watching Kara, and her feet ached in sympathy at the multiple trips needed to get the bulkier items.

The short drive back to her place took an hour because snow was already beginning to fall. The light dusting looked pretty, and Lena’s eyes became heavy from staring at the flurries in the sky. She was shocked awake by the sound of Kara’s door closing, and she barely managed to sit up and wipe the saliva off her chin when the passenger door opened.

“Hey sleepy head,” Kara murmured softly and offered her hand to help Lena out of the vehicle. “Let me get you inside safely and then I’ll take care of everything else, okay?”

“I don’t need your help to walk, you know,” Lena muttered, too proud to accept Kara’s arm.

She was either disoriented from the impromptu nap or the startling white of the snow fall, because the second her foot landed on the driveway, she lost her balance. Kara’s arm was around her waist before she slid, and the embarrassment she expected to feel was side-lined by the relief that she wasn’t about to injure herself.

“You were saying?” Kara asked with raised brows. Her amusement wasn’t overbearing, and Lena scowled back at her playfully and got two more steps before she skidded again.

“Yeah, you’re not wearing the best shoes for this kind of weather. C’mere.”

Kara steadied Lena by grabbing the back of her jacket. Without bothering to ask, she scooped Lena into her arms to make her way up the icy steps and deposited her safely at her door.

Nobody had carried her since she was a child, and for a moment all Lena could do was gawk at Kara in stunned silence.

“Better get in or you’ll catch a cold,” Kara prompted and jogged off back to her truck like she didn’t fear slipping herself.

“What about you?” Lena called out too late. She waited for an answer, then realized Kara was already shouldering the heavy bags of supplies into the barn.

Lena took it upon herself to put the kettle on the stove, since the least she could do was make Kara a warm beverage for all of her labor.

She peered out the kitchen window to witness Kara’s trips back and forth as she scooped hot cocoa into a mug to stir vigorously. There was nothing fancy to add, no marshmallows or whipped cream, and Lena stared down at it bleakly.

Kara kicked her boots free of snow and popped her head into the kitchen. “That’s the last of it tucked away. I’ll see you tomorrow?”

“Hold on, aren’t you going to come in? You’ve been out there a while and you must be freezing.” Lena directed her concerned frown to the window, where the entire sky was pale white and large snowflakes drifted by in the wind.

“A little snow doesn’t bother me—”

“So you’ll have no problem going home after we have dinner then.” Lena’s tone left no room for argument and she held out the mug of cocoa and ushered Kara in out of the cold weather. “Come in and drink this while it’s still warm.”

Kara hopped up and down to knock the snow off her clothes and stuck her rosy face over the mug.

Lena put a tray of cookies on the table for Kara to eat with her cocoa. She had gotten in the habit of doing meal prep after her move and her fridge was neatly organized with ingredients to make a delicious dinner. Once she popped a tray with chicken and pre-sliced vegetables into the oven, she gathered up her fluffiest throw blankets and prodded Kara into the living room. The coffee table was littered with books on parenting and baby names, and Lena casually packed those away before settling down with a cup of tea.

“So, did you pick a name yet?” Kara asked with the smallest jut of her chin towards the books.

“I can barely pick a movie to watch without scrolling for fifty years.” Lena’s self depreciation formed a lopsided smile on Kara’s face. The unsymmetrical sympathy brought discomfort to Lena’s omega and she hid herself beneath the blanket and cocooned herself as thoroughly as possible.

“Usually I thrive under pressure, you should see me in a boardroom. Yet every time I browse through those books my whole head empties and I just stare blankly at the pages. I can name tech better than anyone, but a kid? A little sentient piece of me who has to live with my decision forever?” Lena scoffed at the absurdity and directed her gaze to the steam that swirled above her tea. She exhaled softly to disrupt it and blinked at the comforting warmth of Kara’s hand on her own.

“It does sound daunting.” Kara uttered kindly, and then sat back to sip at her cocoa. “My problem would probably be the opposite of yours. I’d end up with a whole list of names and get stressed trying to whittle it down to one. Is there any at all you like the sound of?”

Lena blinked at the question and shook her head while her mind went into overdrive. “Well, it doesn’t matter if I like any. What if the name totally clashes with the kid's personality?”

“Come to think of it, I haven't known any Daphnes to be punk rockers,” Kara chuckled, though her grin faltered at the manic way Lena raised her hands like she might burst into a Ted Talk. She caught Lena’s cup of tea and set it on the coffee table before she doused them both.

Lena turned to better face Kara and propped her elbow on the back of the couch to rest her head against her palm. “You see what I mean? I might have the wrong perception of who they could be, and so much hinges on a name.”

“Does it though?” Kara countered with gentle eyes and imparted her own wisdom on the matter. “Names can be changed. Look at Alex, the only one who dares to call her Alexandra is our mom, and even then, it’s only when she’s mad. To everyone else she’s just Alex. It’s not a big deal unless you make it one.”

Lena tucked that advice away for later and propped her feet up with the strange notion that she would appreciate Kara’s guidance on nearly any topic.

“You have a pretty close relationship with your sister, don’t you?” Lena sipped at her tea, relaxing into the radiance of heat from the cup. “It must be nice to have that kind of support. By the way, I invited Sam and your sister to dinner next Saturday. You should come.”

“So double date on Friday and dinner on Saturday?” Kara blinked and placed her
empty cocoa mug on a coaster.

“Well, you’re here every day of the week anyway, so I figured it would be in poor taste to exclude you.” Lena glanced out the window at the snowflakes spiraling down and the thick blanket that covered the ground.

“When you put it like that, how can I say no?” Kara laughed, evidently pleased with Lena’s eye roll as she stood up to check on dinner.

She came back with two plates of food to find Kara poised to start a Christmas movie. Saying nothing, she settled beside the alpha and handed off her meal.

They ate while they watched, and Kara made a quick dash through the trees to grab dessert from her own house. She returned with a pint of ice cream from her freezer, and Lena ate over half of it.

At some point, exhaustion took over and Lena missed the last half of the movie on account of falling asleep against Kara’s shoulder.

She wasn’t sure how long she had been out, though she did notice it had gotten dark and the movie on screen was different when she finally woke up.

There was an awkward moment when she sat bolt upright and took the blanket with her, startling Kara in the process.

They said goodnight, and Kara was kind enough to clear the dishes away before leaving Lena to crawl into bed for an early night.

The rest of the week was uneventful, or at least as uneventful as prepping a farm for winter could be. Kara showed up bright and early to lend a hand, despite Lena’s hired staff already insulating and winter-proofing the barn. It made the work go faster, and everyone seemed happier because of it.

Life was stress free right up until Friday, and then Lena’s day seemed to go to hell. But not all at once – not while the anticipation of meeting a new alpha still excited Lena.

As she walked into the restaurant around six, she found Kara already seated. Pleasant flutters went through her stomach at the sight of her neighbor in an outfit that wasn’t made of flannel. Kara wore navy pants and a clean shirt, and next to her was James, her date.

Lena smiled coyly as he pulled out a seat, and her flirtatious scent mingled with his as he sat down across from her with a grin.

“When Kara said she wanted me to meet her friend, she forgot to mention how beautiful you were,” James stated in his deep baritone voice and focused entirely on Lena. “Can I get you a drink while we wait?”

“Oh, well, I drove here, but I’d love a mocktail,” Lena exhaled in a rush. She frowned at the peculiar way Kara perked up to wave at someone.

Eve wandered inside with a laugh and cast a curious glance at Kara’s side of the table. “Hey stranger, I didn’t know you would be here.”

“I’m on a blind date,” Kara explained and then motioned to Eve’s outfit with wide eyes. “You look great. Are you out with friends?”

“Sort of,” Eve drawled and side-eyed Lena as she pieced together what was going on with a coquettish flutter of her lashes that she sent Kara’s way. “Lena’s setting me up with an alpha tonight.”

“Wow, me too!” Kara laughed, slow on the uptake as she turned to Lena. “I mean, not an alpha. Lena’s setting me up with an omega. How many friends do you do this for?”

“Currently only two,” Lena mumbled, cursing herself for setting Kara up with the one person she already knew out of her friends and acquaintances.

“Looks like I’m your date,” Eve laughed as she stripped off her scarf and looked at Lena. “We’ve actually known each other since high school, but if it makes you feel any better, she’s exactly my type.”

Lena didn’t feel any better about that, and in fact it bothered her all the more when Kara reddened in the face.

“Oh, stop,” Kara chuckled modestly and passed out menus to everyone. “Eve was the most popular cheerleader at our school. She could always have any alpha she wanted.”

James propped his arm on the table and angled himself towards Lena after observing their double date for a moment. “How about you, Lena? Were you a cheerleader?”

“More like a big geek, but that didn’t stop me from getting dates.” Lena eyed the massive muscles beneath James’ shirt and couldn’t help compare them to Kara’s across the table. “I don’t know if Kara told you, but before I moved to the middle of nowhere, I created more than two hundred patents for Spherical Industries.”

“Hey, that’s impressive.” James smiled and inconspicuously upped his pheromones to occlude Kara’s from their personal space. “I didn’t know I’d be going out with a genius tonight or I would have studied a bit more about your field. I’m an accountant, by the way. Not the most exciting job, but I have a lot of clients.”

“Right, totally, me too,” Eve teased, running her fingers through her naturally bouncy blonde hair. “I’m officially Sam and Alex’s full time nanny as of yesterday. Sam needs more time to work and I had openings in my schedule.”

“You’re really good with kids,” Kara gushed with the shyest expression Lena had yet to see on her face. “I’m not surprised they want to work with you full time.”

“I’ll be honest, it’s great getting to help out with other peoples’ kids until I have my own.” Eve sighed in longing and folded her napkin over her black mini-skirt. “I can’t wait to be a mom.”

That shouldn’t have overwhelmed Lena with jealousy, but Kara’s pheromones actually reacted favorably to Eve’s declaration, and it was disgusting to entertain thoughts of them hooking up at the end of the night. Lena’s eye twitched from an odd vision of Eve seducing Kara and ending up in the same predicament she was in, only with a stand-up alpha by her side.

“You’ll be the best mom,” Kara assured her, and glanced Lena’s way like her statement applied to both omegas at the table.

It brought Lena little comfort, and she chewed on air as she tensed her jaw and waited for the topic of conversation to change.

“You want kids, Lena?” James inquired, briefly eyeing up her cleavage like his mind was on certain baby-making activities.

Lena probably should have known she wasn’t interested in James at that point, since she started to picture Kara of all people on top of her. She attempted think about the first day she saw Kara, when her muscles had been hard to discern underneath lots of mud.

“You know, I wasn’t sure I’d want to ever be a mother, but now I find myself looking forward to that day.” Lena confided with a private smile and tried to give James her attention.

His smirk was practically lecherous, and she consciously stared into his eyes to try and find any of the warmth she often caught in Kara’s baby blues. Heat was certainly there, just not the kind she had grown accustomed to witnessing over the last the few weeks in Midvale.

James’ lustful stench would have been appealing in the past. He radiated the kind of energy that said he would be good for late night calls and clandestine bouts of passion, but even that didn’t spark Lena’s libido the way she thought it would.

“Well, I don’t have any yet either, but I have plenty of experience being called da–”

Did everyone get the chance to look at the menu?” Kara interjected with a smile that showed more teeth than it really should have. She pushed one at James and laughed loudly at the flirtatious way Eve leaned forward to peer at the one in front of Kara.

It didn’t seem to matter that the words were upside down, since it gave Eve the chance to present Kara with her tits.

Kara and James stared, and Lena pouted until she realized she was sending the wrong signals to the wrong person.

James perceived the mild jealousy and postured with stronger pheromones to dominate the table. His shirt tightened across his shoulders and biceps, and Lena willed herself to find them appealing. She tried to imagine those powerful arms holding her up or bending her over, and she was caught off guard with a brief though fleeting image of someone rutting her across a desk.

She was stuck on the flutter of her cunt and the sudden shortness of her breath when James asked her something with a grin.

Lena knew better than to agree to any question she didn’t hear, but in her distraction, that was exactly what she did. She found out later that she was going to be sharing a mixed platter with James, and she suspected he picked it because most of the food was sticky and glazed.

Kara and Eve went the same route, and Lena caught the vivacious blonde omega purposefully sucking at her fingers in a provocative manner whenever Kara’s eyes landed on her.

The rosy hue to Kara’s cheeks could have been from the wine she had been drinking, but Lena could detect the subtle notes of attraction wafting from the alpha.

Why that irritated her was irrelevant – at least that was what Lena chose to believe.

She gulped at her mocktail while wishing it would have the same effects as alcohol and stabbed a potsticker with a chopstick instead of using them appropriately.

James grasped at the opportunity to get closer and reached out to take Lena’s hand. “Here, let me show you. Don’t grip too tight.” He stroked his fingers over Lena’s until she snagged her hand back to demonstrate she knew perfectly well how to use them.

“You're a fast learner. I like that about you,” James intoned, and effectively took all the credit for showing Lena something she already knew.

It was awkward to avoid fish at a place that primarily served sushi, and Lena couldn’t stomach most of the food in the presence of so much gloating.

By the end of the night, she was in no mood for James’ company. He insisted on following her home to see her safely to her door and a freak snowfall prevented him from leaving.

It wouldn’t have been so miserable if Kara lived somewhere else. Even through all of the trees, Lena could spot two sets of headlights and assume that Kara also brought her blind date home.

“Do you want to watch a movie, or should we go right upstairs?” James asked as he finished toweling the snow off his shoulders.

Lena evaded his attempt to touch her and sucked on her teeth as she waved him toward the couch in the living room. “Let’s watch a movie. As a rule, I don’t hook up on the first date.”

“Oh, right.” James sat down and grinned as he held out his arm and tried to slide it around her. “But do you kiss on the first date?”

“Nope,” Lena blurted and reached for a bowl of candy resting on her coffee table. “M&Ms?”

Despite her standoffish behavior, James carried on flirting. In fact, it was remarkable how laid back he was about the whole situation. He rolled with her attitude as though it didn’t bother him to be repeatedly rejected, and he made no attempt to push Lena beyond the clear boundaries she set up.

It confused Lena for a while, until she stood up to make them popcorn and saw James covertly scrolling through a hook-up app and sexting multiple women. Lena wasn’t even offended, since it kept him from getting handsy, and she gave him an abundance of snacks to keep his mouth busy.

She feigned exhaustion an hour later to retreat to her bedroom and made sure to show him where the guest room was on the ground floor so he couldn’t mistakenly share her bed.

Lena remained awake far longer than she hoped, with her mind flitting between fantasy and frustration. She was horny and uncomfortable about it because of the stranger in her house, and there was no way she could relax enough to take the edge off.

Her mind inevitably wandered back to Kara, and she tried to block out stirrings of jealousy. She had to stop herself from texting Kara twice.

She couldn’t help but wonder if Eve spent the night and how they would be entertaining themselves. If she peeked across the road from her bedroom window, it was only out of concern because of the weather. Unfortunately, due to the blizzard outside, Lena couldn’t see a damn thing except for her own breath against the cold windowpane.

Eventually she fell asleep. The following morning, as the sun arrived bright and early, it came with the clarity that Lena was attracted to only one alpha. And it wasn’t the guy currently using her guest bathroom.

She heard someone knocking on the front door, and without any thought, she flung on a robe and rushed down the stairs to discover James already there with a towel about his waist.

Kara poked her head around him, and Lena realized how it looked as she tried to catch her breath.

Kara,” Lena sang in uncertainty and swept over to stand uncomfortably close to James, who grinned down at her. “What are you doing here? Aren’t you having breakfast with Eve?”

“No, are you having James for breakfast?” Kara blurted in accusation, puffing up her shoulders and chest. “I mean—not having him for breakfast. Is James staying for breakfast?”

“Yeah,” James absently announced and rubbed at his bare chest with his palm. “I was just going to grab a shower, and I figured we’d get a quick bite to eat before I head out.”

Lena was too appalled by the situation to frame it differently, and James stepped into the bathroom as she floundered with words.

“Did you have a good time last night?” Kara tensely asked and followed Lena into the hall and through the door to the kitchen.

“Contrary to how it looks, no,” Lena forcefully emphasized and switched on her expensive coffee maker. “It was a mistake to beg you to set me up.”

“You can say that again,” Kara blustered in complaint and glared towards the door like she was waiting for James to enter. “I don’t think James is really the right alpha for you.”

Lena scrutinized her friend’s odd behavior and decided to call her out on it. “If that’s your view, then why did you pick him for me?”

“You were lonely, and he liked a few of your pictures on Instagram. He must have seen that we followed each other.” Kara dropped her hands at her sides, slapping them against her thighs as she loosened out of her uptight posture.

Lena dumped coffee grounds into a filter and flipped on her machine. “I see. So he was convenient, and not actually your top pick."

“Hey, you’re the one that told me to hook you up with my least favorite friend,” Kara argued with a stubborn pout on her lips. “What were you expecting with those instructions? It sure didn’t seem like you wanted someone who would call the next day.”

Lena scoffed at the audacity and spun with a carton of eggs in her hand. She slammed them onto the counter hard enough to crack a few and crossed her arms. “So just because I’m an omega I can’t be as carefree or casual with sex as alphas are? Is that why you have an attitude with me this morning, because you’re judging me?”

I’m not,” Kara grunted and clenched her teeth together in frustration before she exhaled sharply. “Gosh darn it, that’s not why I’m bothered.”

“So you admit you have a problem,” Lena snapped and peered up at Kara’s pursed lips and confrontational raised chin. “Is it because I’m pregnant and single? You know, for someone who isn’t a fan of hook-ups, you still brought Eve home last night.”

It was vindictive to throw Kara’s hypocrisy in her face, and Lena squared her jaw with a victorious smirk that faltered at Kara’s pointed retort.

“Yeah, so I could put my spare snow chains on her tires. What’s your excuse? Why is James still here and half naked if you two weren’t–” Kara appeared to be mortified as she motioned to Lena’s robe and tried to gesture without being crude. “Doing stuff?

“How was he supposed to get home last night? By sled?” Lena incredulously hissed, and advanced on Kara to swing her hand toward the window. “I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but I’m still figuring out how to survive winter in the middle of nowhere.”

“I’m helping you out with that, and I should be helping you out with other things, too,” Kara asserted and stood her ground for once so that Lena couldn’t back her into the counter.

The change in behavior quickened Lena’s pulse and she refused to show her interest as she studied Kara’s face. She inhaled the jealous musk of Kara’s alpha.

Should?

“I’m better equipped to handle your needs than some random alpha you’ve just met.” Kara made her case confidently and stalked forward to get in Lena’s personal space. “At least I know you’re pregnant, and you know I’m not someone who wants to take advantage of you.”

“What a good samaritan you are. Too bad I’m not interested in your pity or a relationship.” Lena bit the words out in a vain attempt to control the situation.

She could feel the energy between them and tried to evade Kara’s stare as her omega announced her attraction with a scent that begged for sex.

Kara’s pupils dilated as it hit her, and she caught Lena by the nape of the neck. “But you’re interested in this.”

The brazen move paid off as their lips met in a heated kiss, and Lena moaned as Kara’s hand slipped between the fold of her robe to cup her pussy. They stumbled into the pantry while she frantically tugged Kara’s belt free, and she gasped, ragged and breathless as Kara bit at her lips and pushed two fingers knuckle deep.

Kara stroked at the thin strip of hair above her cunt and rubbed into her ridged inner walls. She reached into Kara’s trousers and faltered at the enormity of the erection that was waiting for her. The length startled her so much that she backed into the shelf behind her and knocked a few cannisters onto the floor.

Pasta skidded in all directions, and Lena tore open Kara’s pants for a glimpse at the cock that shocked her. “Fuck. I thought I would be deprived living out here in the country. That’s clearly not the case.”

Her remarks helped boost Kara’s ego, and she slammed a little more roughly into the cushy and sensitive place inside of Lena’s pussy.

“Don’t worry, I’ll make sure you never have to go without—”

Lena whined for Kara to immediately honor that promise, but they had conflicting interests. She wanted instant gratification and positioned the tip of Kara’s cock close enough to her entrance in the hopes of getting it. Kara wanted to finger her and watch her writhe in orgasm first.

“I’m ready. Don’t make me wait,” Lena huffed wrathfully and jerked at Kara’s shaft to observe the purplish brim and the droplets of arousal that trickled onto her palm. She wanted to feel it against her lips and inside of her.

“The last time you made demands, you regretted them,” Kara smartly insisted as she massaged Lena’s clit with the pad of her thumb. She grinned at the startled breaths Lena took and the quiver of her throat as she tried to hold back a groan.

The pressure Kara used was enough to make Lena resentful of the pleasure it produced. She bore down on Kara’s fingers to take back some of the control.

“Shut up and fuck me or I’ll find someone else to do it,” Lena threatened petulantly.

She had no intentions of looking for anyone else, but Kara responded to her irritable mouthing off.

“No-no you won’t–” Kara stuttered, her heavy breaths cascading over Lena’s neck as her cock pulsed in Lena’s capable hand. She crooked her fingers, determined to get Lena off first, like they were in a race to the finish.

Lena stimulated the sensitive ridges just below Kara’s glans with a quicker wrist movement. It brought her great satisfaction to feel the way Kara trembled from her touch, and she basked in that glory until Kara bent forward to suck at her nipples. They ached terribly, and Lena blamed the hormones for how sore and swollen they had become. She hissed in ecstasy at the wet suction of Kara’s lips and her eyes drifted shut the moment Kara squeezed at her tits. She wanted imprints of the alpha’s fingers all over her skin, and her slick cunt convulsed in submission.

The hot contractions tried to pull Kara deeper, but the alpha freed herself with a groan while Lena practically climbed her like she was possessed.

The robe fell off her shoulders and Lena bared herself completely as Kara palmed at her ass and lifted her up to rest her backside partially on a shelf.

They spilled oats and dried fruits, and Lena fisted Kara’s hair to bring her in for a bruising kiss. She gasped into Kara’s open mouth at the first prod of her thickened tip and shuddered when it breached the tight crest of her entrance.

Lena clung onto Kara in an orgasmic sort of shock, and braced herself for the first powerful, rutting thrust.

“Oh god, just give me it already,” Lena pleaded, her teeth snapping shut with the sudden overwhelming fullness of Kara’s cock ploughing through her contractions.

The rickety shelves creaked with the fast pace. Cans rattled as Kara pumped her hips like she couldn’t wait to come inside of her.

Lena spread herself as much as possible in the confined space and groaned as Kara’s cock plunged deeper inside of her. The wide helmet met against her cervix and she knew without a doubt that Kara’s seed would soon fill her whole pussy. With the enlarged girth of it, Kara stretched her to complete bliss and rubbed into the small bend inside to create more of her wet silk.

“Why are you so good at this?” Lena whimpered.

She began to sweat from the anxiety that she would never find an alpha who would be willing to pound her like that andclaim her.

Kara massaged the soft little cowl around her clit to make it swollen and red. “I can’t say it was practice. I haven’t been with that many omegas. Gosh, you’re unbelievably tight and wet.”

Lena knew she was in the wrong headspace when she suddenly wished she hadn’t experienced all of the disappointing lovers before Kara. If she had met Kara years ago, she wondered if their relationship would have been more serious. They were hooking up in her pantry of all places, and they were nothing more than neighbors and friends, so why did she feel emotional?

“You just seem so modest and meek, I didn’t know you could do this to me.” Lena gasped at the onset of another orgasm that Kara timed by touching her clit.

“You’re extra sensitive,” Kara noted and looped around her bright hooded bead repeatedly as her thighs shook. “It’s like you haven’t done this in a long time. Do you rub your pussy, Lena?”

Lena tightened her legs around Kara to pull her closer and instigate rougher sex. “Not as often as I should. Thrust harder. Show me how it’s done.”

Lena didn’t bank on Kara following her instructions and she whimpered pitifully when Kara pulled out.

To say she was stunned to find herself spun around and bent over a shelf was an understatement. Kara bunched the silk robe in her fist to expose Lena’s ass. She rammed into her soaked slit with the kind of greed Lena never would have expected.

To be dominated so effortlessly over a shelf that she used for storing pickles was both absurd and exhilarating. Lena dug her nails into the paintwork as glass containers rattled.

Ohh–” Lena moaned, elongated and raw as Kara pounded the breath right out of her.

Creamier nectar dripped down Kara’s shaft as she showed a new side of herself, and Lena sagged forward, her tits heavy and perfectly accessible to Kara’s large hands.

“Is this what you meant back at the diner when you said you wanted an alpha to dominate you, Lena?” Kara rumbled and palmed at Lena’s tits with spread fingers to tease her nipples. She pinched the stiffened peaks and pinned Lena with her weight as she rocked forward to submerge base deep on every lunge.

You heard that?” Lena grunted incredulously, somewhat mortified, though too aroused to fully feel it with how frantically Kara slammed into her from behind.

She couldn’t recall a single time she had been fucked so enthusiastically and the staccato slap of Kara’s pelvis resonated through the thump thump of the wooden shelf.

She risked bruises against her hips with how eagerly she rocked back into Kara, and yet it was worth it to be given exactly what she wanted.

“I also heard you don’t touch your pussy enough. Why don’t you rub it for me?” Kara suavely redirected Lena’s hand from the wood and tucked it between her glossy thighs.

The sultry suggestion brought heat to Lena’s cheeks and she slid two fingers over her clit with a breathy whine. “Why don’t you? I came so easily on your fingers—”

“My hands are as full as you’re about to be,” Kara grunted in response, and squeezed at Lena’s breasts and ass as her rhythm shifted with her growing pleasure.

The heady rush of knowing Kara was about to climax influenced Lena’s omega and she widened her stance. The slippery warmth of her arousal aided every semi-circle she swirled over herself and the quick caress plumped her clitoris.

It ached wonderfully to be rutted by Kara, and despite the hefty girth and how it pushed her to her limits, Lena clenched intentionally. She grinned at the stuttered breaths Kara tried to release and gasped at the sudden sensation of Kara’s teeth grazing her shoulder.

Kara’s growl was more felt than heard, and the vibration raced through Lena’s limbs and straight to her cunt. The flutter inside her strengthened with her nearing orgasm and Kara snared her by the hips to give it her all.

The sound of James calling from somewhere in the house was muffled, but his deep baritone carried his questions and confusion as to Lena’s disappearance. “Hey, are we still having breakfast? Lena?”

There wasn’t much else she could do except yell back the truth to stall him from entering the pantry, “I’m coming!

The airy cry was light and high pitched and Lena seized up as white hot bliss flowed through her like an electrical current.

Kara didn’t seem to care if they got caught and railed Lena harder. “Yeah you are, and it feels so good, doesn’t it, Lena?

It was in that moment that Lena realized the alpha was trying to assert herself as better than her perceived competition. She couldn’t blame Kara, given her own jealousy over Eve, but it did bring them precariously close to getting caught going at it like animals.

She could hear the heavy footfalls of James searching her house for them, and the door to the kitchen creaked open as Kara finally shot her load.

Thick jets of seed poured into Lena, and she whimpered while Kara held her steady to take it all.

Aww, cool! Thank you! Jealous Kara/Lena is fun as long as the jealousy leads them together and not apart. No idea how long the story will be. It's already longer than I expected as something that was supposed to be a monthly one-shot but I couldn't wrap it up in even 2 parts...

This totally has the potential to be one of my new favorites! I know it can be problematic, but I’m a sucker for some jealous Kara/Lena. I also always enjoy them basically dating without dating. Love me some angst! as long as there’s a happy ending. How long do you think the story’ll be?

Oh no, did you just not receive an update email? I've found that can happen from time to time. ☹️ I imagined this as a total AU without powers, but of course Kara is still a lovable dork. Thank you! I'm happy you enjoyed it. James is still there... and of course they have dinner plans with Alex and Sam later that night. ☺️

Thank you!! 😁 I'm looking forward to sharing the next part! Can confirm Kara has no idea.

Man my e-mail failed me on getting the alert for a new post. I hope the reveal is something kind of mundane in a way. I remember a Clark and Lois FF I read years ago now where still hadn't told her was Superman but proposed so of course sex was the result. While laying in bed she goes to brush a lock of hair off the forehead and went "Oh" it clicked Clark is Superman. No idea where this is heading but very much enjoyed it. Will James walk in or could someone else arrive at Lena's new house?

Oh my this is going to be a great story. Excellent fucking. I do wonder if Kara knows Lena is carrying her pup??

Yes, I'll admit I got carried away. Some prompts fit neatly into a one-shot, and it seems like I've been getting a lot of prompts lately that require a bit more. Hopefully you all feel those stories are worth the wait! 😂 Aww, thank you, I REALLY hope you enjoy it during your holiday vacation! 🎄

☺️💙

Spectacular? ☺️Thank you!!

THANK YOU. 😁 You know, I end off every story with a small fear in my heart, "was this good? Are their discussions substantive enough, and is this funny, or is this crap?" But you always leave me the nicest comments and I'm thankful for that. I nearly cut that diner scene out, which would have removed the whole James-date thing, but that was where my muse took me for this prompt. Getting railed in the kitchen is definitely what Lena wants. And every other place in the house. 😂 Next part coming soon!

Thank you!!! 😁 It's been fun writing this one and I'm looking forward to finishing the next part. Kara is extremely compassionate so she would be a good vet, and yeah! She'll help Lena warm up to her new pets. For some people, "a little while" is 2 months. 😂 MAYBE. I don't know. Lol, Lena already hates James, but he could be around in future chapters to incite jealousy, you never know. 💙

Thank you! I admit I put a lot of energy and thought into this one (and gosh, every single story, what are one-shots anymore?) If I ever go quiet for a little bit, chances are I'm writing a short novel of smut. 😂

Yes she is! But they were both in costume. 😂 Oh yeah they're making a mess, and Lena is going to continue to be feral horny because hormones and all. Working on the next part!! Thank you!

"OHMYGAHD IT'S HERE!!!" - Me halfway through the description. I'm saving this for my holiday vacation. Thank you, author! This is the best Christmas gift ever! 🥳

Well. Fuck. 🥵🥵🥵

Whychello

This is spectacular! Thanks for sharing ;)

Well spin me sideways that was EVERYTHING. Their banter AND their deep discussions were so so good. I know Kara didn’t mean to but I love the idea of Kara setting Lena up with James just to show her exactly what she wants (aka blonde beefcake of a vet). And apparently that’s maybe getting caught getting railed in the kitchen! Remember, always clean your countertops after handling raw meat 😂. Can’t wait for the next part and maybe the big reveal!

Rocket

Wtf... that was hot, funny, just everything. Can't wait for more. Vet Kara just fits so well. Lena will get to know her animals and Kara will name them all for her. I'll just go ahead and presume they don't have names already. I'm not quite sure if Kara's the sire of Lena's pup quite yet as she said she didn't have sex for quite some time. How long is 2 month? 😄 James will be out of the picture soon but how soon will there be a mark on Lena's neck? I'm sure there will be some bumps on the road ahead for them to get over until the happy ending but I'll happily read on 😍

I loved it ! thank you for all your work!

SHUT UP Kara was the one night stand who knocked up Lena right ???? 😆😆😆 also I love that Lena and Kara are just knocking things over in the kitchen making a big ol’ mess while James is just getting dressed, lol. Lena going feral horny on Kara never gets old 😘😘😘 can’t wait for the next
