Progress Update: 11/17/21

I LIVE!

Apologies for my long bout of silence, I have been preparing to go on a long trip. While I won't have access my normal workstation, I've invested in equipment to bring with me so that I can continue to work.

While I'm still performing research, I'm now in the scripting phase of development. The scripting process for this video will be quite different; this time, rather than writing the script from start to finish, I'm writing certain parts as I research them. Right now, I'm writing the most difficult part of the script: a description of the basic mechanics of EVE Online. Even at this level, the game quickly spirals outward into overwhelming complexity for the newcomer, so I'm being extremely careful how I craft this introduction.

Ryan is hard at work on the music, which will include numerous reoccurring motifs for particular groups or individuals, such as the Russian-speaking player group or Steve the Titan. (The first Titan in EVE Online was named "Steve" after the then-recently-deceased Steve Irwin) The first step, of course, is crafting these motifs. I'm also happy to announce that Rachel, the vocalist for the last two videos, will be returning once again, and her voice will appear outside of the outro track.

Arcaxon, in the meantime, has begun work on the graphic design, and is working on the materials that will be reused throughout the video.

I also have spoken with someone regarding a potential giveaway involving ships in EVE Online, but this is in the early stages. I'll let you all know when I have something more concrete, which will likely happen much closer to release.

Given this video's protracted schedule, I'm considering offering limited script readings of early drafts to interested people in the Patreon Discord. If you're interested in hearing some bits and pieces early, let me know in the comments of this post.
