Lena Luthor – Renowned scientist, philanthropist, and beloved friend — October 24th 1993 – February 12th 2022

Kara let the tears well in her eyes to remove the printed words from her sight. She had written them herself, so she knew what they said, but to see the ink and hold the newspaper in her hand was complete agony. Her nose clogged again, and she balled a tissue, forcing it up under her glasses to catch the drip. She tossed the paper aside and pushed out her chin in a full-on cry—sobs that sounded more like screams from between gritted teeth.

Her feet carried her through the rooms in the Tower, to the pale blue light of the lab, where she hesitated at the door in case Lena was inside. She knew Lena was there, but also not there—paradoxically confusing to her emotions, both a relief and harrowing to her soul at the same time.

Lena waited for her in a preserving cryo-chamber, locked in stasis – her face an empty enigma that still shocked Kara. She came in several times a day, expecting more from the mute lips that she never had the chance to kiss.

This was how she preferred it, when it was just the two of them. Her visits became more complicated when others were around.

“I didn’t tell her!” Kara howled in the presence of her sister, Kelly and all of their friends. “I never told her, Alex! She’s gone and she doesn’t know how much I loved her, how I saw a future with her – or that I considered her not just my friend, but my soulmate.”

They ached in her chest, all of those things left unsaid – and Kara repeated them over and over again, even though Lena couldn’t respond. It went on like that for days, weeks, and months until a whole year passed without her.

Spring rains pattered against the roof of the Tower, and one day Kara woke up to Brainy and Alex’s soft-footed approach.

“There is something we can do,” Brainy disclosed with a pained squint, his face green from embracing his true self to probe the whole of the universe for solutions. “Something you can do, Kara, but it might mean that you have to say goodbye to all of us.”

Alex appeared reluctant to share that piece of information, but she gestured for Brainy to continue and stood solemnly at his side as he presented his ideas.

“You can take Lena away from here — to a world in the new multiverse,” Brainy asserted and folded his hands in front of him to peer into the stasis-chamber where Lena looked like she was sleeping. “We thought that all known universes became One during the Crisis, but other universes simply took their place. I discovered during my trip to the future that there can never be a true singularity. There is an infinite number of possible worlds, and some of them connect to ours.”

“You might never return if you go,” Alex whispered, terrified and tearful as she stepped forward to place her hands on Kara’s shoulders. “I don’t want you to leave, Kara, but the whole thing is that you’re not here now. You just disappear more and more each day, and I can’t bear to watch that.”

Kara breathed in sharply, torn between feeling hopeful and distraught. “I’ll come back. If there’s any way back for us, I’ll figure it out.”

Alex nodded too vigorously to that and then pulled Kara to her chest. “You will. I know you will.”

Kara had to try, even though Brainy didn’t know what the full journey would entail.

With her mind made up, she said farewell to her family and took the steps that Brainy described -- but it would come to pass that she wouldn’t remember what those steps were, not the first and not the last. She just recalled how she felt during her goodbyes, the love of her family and her home. Those were the sentiments that stuck with her and became part of her innate feelings. She understood loyalty and love more deeply.

It wasn’t fair to expect Alex and Eliza to be there to send her off.

Kara couldn’t cope with the emotional burden of their combined terror and hope, so she passed the weight of it onto someone else’s shoulders — the only one to see the real scope of her anguish when she lifted the entire cryo-pod just to hesitate on the threshold of a portal.

Brainy had programmed it with the exact coordinates to a destination so obscure that they had never named it. Kara simply referred to it as her second chance.

“Are you certain you’re ready for this journey?” Brainy asked, his teeth pressed together in tight rows. It wasn’t really a grimace, just a tense reaction at losing two people that had become part of his found family.

“I faced Black Mercy and I survived the Phantom Zone twice,” Kara reminded him, if only to assure herself that she was capable of stepping into the unknown.

“Unlike Black Mercy, this place won’t be pulling on your memories to shape the world, Kara. It will craft one of its own choosing,” Brainy whispered and clasped Kara’s shoulder to meet her eyes. “There is a high possibility that you won’t remember Lena or your life before you enter this void. Your whole existence will be different. There’s no guarantee that you’ll find one another, and even if you do, unless you’re confirmed to be soulmates, you may never leave this place.”

Kara accepted his warning, let it hang over her for a few seconds longer, and then pulled him into an embrace. “I trust my heart, Brainy. I know it will guide me, even if I forget her name. Red Daughter felt our connection to Lena halfway around the world. I’ll feel it halfway across the universe, I have no doubt.”

Time was a sensitive thing in the grander universe.

From the moment Kara opened the cryo-pod, there would be no turning back. With one last burst of speed, she unhooked the latches and brought Lena into her arms where she had always rightfully belonged.

It wasn’t confidence that carried Kara forward with Lena limp and cradled to her chest, it was sheer desperation. The swirling portal swallowed them whole, and Kara succumbed to the sacrifice of giving up her entire world just for the chance of experiencing Lena’s love.

The weightless pull of being dragged lightyears away was less daunting than the foggy confusion that filled her head like static.

The taste of Lena’s name on her lips faded faster than the memory of her face, and Kara’s history came apart like the jagged fragments. She tried to hold onto them, grasp them with fingers that wouldn’t or couldn’t move as lights blinded her vision and the air in her lungs became stagnant.

Flickers of thoughts blew out in her head like candle flames – L-Corp, Alex, journalism, it all resonated within her, foreign and strange until the memories themselves were meaningless. Krypton and all of its incredible inventions faded out to black, her homeland forgotten.

Lena’s face blurred, leaving nothing but the radiance of her eyes.

The harder Kara tried to locate a meaning to where she was and why this was happening, the faster it all drained into the ether.

Kara swirled with it.

The void didn’t spit her out at the other side. It formed around her in reckless disregard for how uneasy she would feel at seeing a sudden horizon hanging overhead.

Kara blinked until the sun spots in her vision faded, and she looked into a pair of brilliant, mismatched eyes.

They belonged to the young woman who was standing at her side, observing her odd behavior with a smile on her face. She tied her black hair into a long braid with a string of twine and tucked it under the green velvet hood of her riding robes.

Kara. Here, you can take my hand.”

Oh,” Kara whispered, her heart making the choice for her as she reached up to clasp the delicate pale hand outstretched towards her. The sense that everything would be alright lasted only as long as their fingers were entwined, and then a dizzying rush overcame her when she stood up with a wheeze.

“It’s not like you to be unseated. Usually you ride with grace. Are you okay?” The woman asked, her smile free of the concern that Kara experienced at the loss of her touch.

“I must have hit my head. Everything is a little fuzzy,” Kara explained, her memories shifting beneath her like the soft earth under her feet.

It took her a moment to remember her evening lessons, and how she appreciated the stables for their quiet tranquillity away from the city and all of its advancements.

It’s like stepping into Earth’s past. That thought echoed in her mind as a disembodied joke that she once told someone, though she couldn’t recall who.

“Is that your way of saying I shouldn’t tell anyone that our future leader shrieked like a little girl when her horse was spooked?” The woman’s voice was teasing, in spite of the tender way she touched Kara’s forehead. She brushed the hair from Kara’s face to peer into her eyes, and for a second, Kara forgot to breathe.

She would follow her wherever she went. It was an absurd insistence made by her heart that her whole body seemed to agree upon. Kara couldn’t explain it any more than she could explain any fact, yet she knew with absolute clarity that the woman in front of her was the most important person in her life.

Kara straightened up and slid her hands onto her hips with a returning sense of pride. “I’ll buy your silence with scones and the best jam you’ve ever tasted.”

The woman cracked a smile at that offer and glanced around at where the sun was sliding lower in the sky. “I’ll take you up on that tomorrow, but we’d better head back now before you’re missed.”

The weight of responsibility pressed down on Kara’s shoulders and her lips slanted in a sigh that sounded weary. There was no enjoyment in fulfilling the expectations of others, though the sense of duty and honour it brought did instil a private satisfaction. Kara’s conflicting emotions were silent and turbulent, and she kept them to herself as she glanced at the mischievous squint of her companion.

“I’m tempted to ride off and leave you to handle all of the diplomatic endeavours for the night. Those dinners bore me like nothing else,” Kara intoned, flicking the hair from her face to find two mares galloping toward the stables without them.

“How awful that you get to sit with the most brilliant minds of our time and eat the finest foods,” The woman cooed, showing utterly no sympathy for Kara’s plight. She looped her arm through Kara’s with an impish smile and led her out of the field with the familiarity that they had done this hundreds of times.

Being the only daughter of the Kryptonian leaders who saved their race from extinction earned Kara privileges she never wanted and burdened her with shoes she did not wish to fill. In order to settle on Earth, her parents had brokered peace by sharing their exceptional technological advancements and the humans revered them in return as bringers of salvation.

As a child when she first arrived, Kara had no idea that the mantle of leader would be placed on her head. She was twelve when she realized her life would be devoted to serving Earth and all of its new inhabitants in a role close to royalty.

The only saving grace that made it at all tolerable was that she formed a fierce and loyal friendship with the daughter of one of the most influential Earth families. They were practically inseparable, and Kara would do just about anything to keep a smile on her friend’s face.

“Lena, if you’ve left their saddles on–” a voice called to them in warning, sharp and exasperated.

Kara ran the name over her tongue, whispered it under her breath to savor the sound her mouth made at breathing life to a name she couldn’t believe she had ever forgotten. Maybe she hit her head harder than she thought, though there was no radiating pain. She narrowed her eyes in the direction of a barn and caught sight of a man leaning on a shovel. He appeared to be frowning, and Kara took an instant and unfathomable dislike to his chiseled face.

“There was an emergency, Benjamin, Kara hit her head and I have to take her to be checked over,” Lena yelled back, prodding Kara in the ribs with an elbow so that she hunched over. “It won’t happen again.”

“Oh, c’mon, you know our strong Kryptonian leader is impervious to any real damage,” Benjamin commented, jutting out his chin and standing up to glower down at Lena. He threw the shovel aside on a bale of hay and fixed his suspenders.

Lena eyed him with disdain and tightened her hold on Kara. She wore a Kryptonian sleeve that melded them together by the forearm and it flashed into appearance for seconds before sliding away.

“What is that?” Benjamin crowed in wide-eyed excitement and puffed himself up like a bully intent on teasing them. “I guess it’s not something us average folk will ever own.”

“Don’t be envious,” Lena softly chided, not at all threatened in the face of Benjamin’s peacocking. “Everyone will get one. It’s a qubit bracelet. It tracks important data about how we interact with others. Zor-El designed it to be a next-level device. It will replace all of social media and bring deeper meaning to our lives.”

“What next? A program to assign us dates so we don’t have to bother getting to know each other? You’ll lose your humanity one of these days,” Benjamin scoffed, his old world views a clear indication of his resistance to embrace the ways Kryptonian technology changed the way people interacted.

It was perhaps Benjamin’s main reason for devoting his life to the preservation of farmland and equestrian schools. He prided himself on doing things the way they had always been done, and Kara had come to value that in spite of his personality.

Kara still bristled at his comments, her offense stiffening her spine and jaw the way steel hardened when forged.

“No, Lena won’t. Nobody will and you would know that if you ever left this place,” Kara insisted, her stride taking her two steps before her bracelet joined her to Lena again.

The bright gleam refused to dim for several seconds, and when it finally blinked out like a dying star their wrists were still cuffed together.

“What’s gotten into you? Benjamin likes to run his mouth, but it’s okay,” Lena whispered, her tone almost chastising as she tugged at Kara’s arm in an effort to shake herself free.

“I don’t trust him,” Kara insisted, the truth of her statement coming from a place so deep within her that she couldn’t articulate why.

His presence unsettled something inside her mind and she continued to glare at him even while Lena trailed her out of the field and over to a hovering pod that opened as they neared.

“You sound like your father when you talk like that, and don’t you dare take it as a compliment. Your compassion is one of the things I love about you.” Lena’s stern tone subdued Kara’s indignation and she climbed into the seat next to her friend.

The space was small, and their thighs pressed against one another as Kara’s fingers tapped out commands on the front console. The dome cover slid into place and they shot off at a speed that would have been dangerous in any other vehicle.

Tall buildings and spectacular sights whizzed past their vision, and Kara sighed so heavily it fogged the screen. This wasn’t the life she would have chosen for herself, and the confinement she experienced at being forced into it still bothered her heart.

“Do you ever think of the plans we made as children?”

“To travel the galaxy as space pirates and battle unknown monsters? Even then you wanted to be a hero.” Lena smirked, her smile softening around the edges as reality dampened their silly dreams. She dropped her chin to her chest and fumbled with the bracelet that kept them stuck together, unaware of the way Kara memorized every line of her face.

I still want that,
Kara thought, her brows furrowed as she tried to project her words into Lena’s mind without having to say them aloud.

“Can you get this thing off me? We’re almost there and I don’t imagine your guests of honor will take kindly to you dragging me around all night,” Lena laughed, the sound humourless and borderline hysterical.

“Hold still while I try to disengage it,” Kara commanded with confidence and raised their hands to inspect the bracelet. It faintly hummed with energy and she dug her thumbnail into a small panel that pinged off with her insistence.

Kara–”

“I can do this,” Kara stressed, peering at the thin wires with pure concentration. “I just need one of your earrings.”

Lena hesitated, her lips pinched and her eyes narrowed as if she were ready to issue an ultimatum. It took her a moment of fumbling to grasp one of the beautiful golden teardrops and she handed it over with a grimace. “If you ruin these the way you did my home security with your tinkering—”

“Trust me. I know what I’m doing.”

While that was true, Kara hadn’t expected the anti-tampering mechanism to solder the precious metal and fuse them together. The sharp zap would have burned a human, but it merely singed Kara’s fingers and the biggest shock she got was the fright of it happening.

“To be honest, I always perform better when you’re my plus one anyway,” Kara argued, her contrite expression doing her no favors as Lena groaned in annoyance.

Their pod came to a stop in the open bay of the building where Kara lived. The vast interior resembled the architecture of Krypton with inset lighting and a landing strip. Lena tensed up at the soft release of the airlock door and the sudden appearance of a dark-haired little boy who ambushed them with sticky darts.

“Kal, I am going to tell your mother about this!” Lena warned and flung one of the goopy darts right back at him with a glare over at Kara. “Between you and your cousin, I’m destined to ruin my outfit today. My robes are covered in mud, I’m wearing one earning, and now I’m covered in slime. We’re going to have to clean up.”

Kal laughed and ran off to lie in wait for other arrivals. Kara would have ordinarily reprimanded him, but that would have involved leaving Lena’s side for more than a minute.

“You used to steal my robes when we were younger. I’m sure we can find something for you to wear.” Kara motioned to the stairwell that would take them straight to her upper floor where the master suit overlooked the entire city.

They evaded Kal and his attempts to intercept them with more of his darts, and Lena appeared pleased when she heard Kara’s aunt scolding him.

“Serves him right,” Lena lilted when she caught Kara staring at her, and pushed through the door to enter Kara’s spacious bedroom.

There were several walk-in closets and more gadgets than existed in the stores that lined the busy city streets.

The bed was big enough to fit an entire family, but served as a reminder of how lonely Kara was in the middle of the night. To the left was her bathroom, which had a sunken-in tub that Kara had once drunkenly fallen straight into after Lena’s birthday party a few years earlier. If she had been human, she would have injured herself, but the only damage was to the porcelain that her forehead had struck.

“I have plenty of formal robes that you can try on.” Kara led Lena into the back of the biggest closet she owned. She tried to keep her attention on the colourful fabrics that brushed the back of her hand as she browsed them, and not on the obvious conundrum they faced.

With their wrists bound to one another, they couldn’t disrobe, and Lena seemed to understand that after she pulled her arm free and raised the garment off of her body.

“Help me out of this,” Lena demanded, her breathy words barely cooling the heat of Kara’s cheeks.

Kara stared at the robes which hung before them, her own breath stilted and shallow. The invitation settled heavily somewhere in her abdomen, a warmth that shouldn’t have burned so hot or felt so painfully longing.

“I can’t,” Kara croaked, her vision filled with Lena’s pale, smooth skin and the thin lace of her bra.

She felt herself tilt forward, her lips parting at the pout of Lena’s mouth, and she exhaled harder than intended. It felt forbidden to look, to experience the tension of attraction that years of silence had never quite killed. She devoured the sight of her friend and came close to actually laying a hand on her only to lift their joined wrists in the air with a forced and frantic laugh.

Oh,” Lena sighed, her downcast eyes hard to read though there was a lingering sense of disappointment that seemed to go deeper than changing clothes. She backed off, taking Kara with her in the process, and almost stumbled over the garment trapped between them.

“Bathroom?” Kara suggested, with the goal to keep her mind occupied by anything other than Lena and the supple shape of her hips which swayed when she walked.

“Well, now that I have no choice but to remain in this, that's our only option, isn’t it?” Lena’s sharp tone alluded to irritation that Kara couldn’t quite place, and they hurried into the en suite. They worked in sync, turning on taps and gathering soap until Lena pushed her out of the way to hunch over the sink.

Kara wasn’t offended. She was far too fixated on Lena’s breasts and how the soft swells strained against the lacy cups trying valiantly to hold them back. She hadn’t realized her mouth was hanging open or that she had been breathing heavier until Lena snapped her out of her lustful gazing with a quiet question.

“Are you getting wet?”

Yes,” Kara confided, far too swiftly and honestly for it to be anything short of mortifying.

“Sorry, I thought the spray was out of your range,” Lena disclosed, her sly smile confusing Kara enough to keep her mouth shut. “This will have to do. Help me dry it off.”

Kara reached for a high-powered dryer that she hurried to aim at Lena. She blew her best friend’s hair back and sheepishly re-adjusted at the look on Lena’s face.

They finished up in the bathroom and made their way into the vestibule that connected to the main part of the living quarters. Around the curve of the door, Kara spotted diplomats and the distinguished elite of the city. She placed her hands on her hips and dragged Lena’s arm up in the process.

“I’m a little bit nervous,” Kara admitted as she squinted at some of the faces in the room. “Do you ever feel like you’re living someone else’s life? I’m not cut out for this role.”

Lena tugged at their locked arms to pull Kara’s attention back to her. “Kara, you’re the only person I trust with all of this responsibility. There’s no one else with your compassion or your willingness to do what’s right.”

The strangest feeling of déjá vu threatened to stall Kara as she peered down at Lena. She glanced over to the mingling people and shook her head. Kara was ready to argue her point when a man approached with a lecherous smile and introduced himself to Lena’s breasts.

“Well, if it isn’t the prettiest girl in the room,” he drawled with intrigue, his eyes not once lifting to Lena’s face. “I’m Morgan. Kara has yet to introduce us, so I thought I’d do it myself.”

Morgan sent an amused smirk towards Kara and extended his hand.

Lena would have grasped it if Kara hadn’t stepped instinctively in front of her with the clear ambition to protect her from Morgan. The urge to keep distance between them seemed out of place with all she knew of the man. Morgan had earned the reputation of being an inspirational architect, merging both of their worlds into single buildings. The one they stood in was among his first, and in her honor no less, yet Kara experienced an intense and unmistakable disgust when he smiled.

The threat he posed was minimal, and logically Kara understood that in spite of her hostile expression and how she shielded Lena behind her back. “There will be time for introductions later. Right now, Lena is assisting me.”

Morgan’s eyebrows arched in disbelief, and Kara dragged Lena away from him while staring him down.

“You’re being rude,” Lena hissed, conscious of the eyes that were following them. The glow of her cheeks alluded to embarrassment, but the gleam of her eye was curious.

“And he wasn’t?” Kara demanded, grasping at any reason for her odd behavior. “I’m surprised his eyeballs didn’t pop out of his head with the way he was staring.”

“It’s not like anyone knows what I look like beneath this. It covers practically everything,” Lena scoffed, her haughty attitude bringing Kara to a halt.

“And what a pity that is,” a voice behind them intoned. “You have a beautiful figure.”

Kara bristled at the compliment so suavely given and turned with pinched lips to size up the individual with utter disdain.

“Andrea,” Lena gasped, her smile genuine as she brought a hand up to touch her neck. “What a pleasant surprise?”

“Did the earrings not please you?” Andrea inquired, her fond smile faltering when she registered Lena no longer wore the golden teardrops.

Lena appeared ill at ease with Kara knowing about the gift, though she smiled brighter to compensate for that and stepped forward to touch Andrea’s arm. “I love the earrings. Thank you for thinking of me.”

Kara pursed her lips together for fear of speaking out of turn.  She glared at the competition that Andrea posed and reached out to place her hand on Lena’s shoulder. “Will you accompany me out to balcony for a drink before my father’s speech?”

It was impolite to act like Lena’s guard when her friend was her guest at the party and literally captive to her whims. Despite recognizing that, Kara couldn’t tamp down the jealousy that came over her. She wanted Lena all to herself and she didn’t care how others would perceive her actions.

Tonight she would be signing away her life to become her parents’ successor in leadership and it affected her entire attitude. There had been other times when she made personal sacrifices because her parents demanded it, and this situation touched upon a deeper anger that came from an innate place inside of her.

“A drink? Of the ceremonial wine?” Lena smirked at the mischief that Kara seemed to be suggesting and they slinked off together with Andrea trailing behind them.

Kara did the honors of pouring and that small act of rebellion made her feel good. Two young men joined them on the balcony, along with Lena’s older brother, and Kara doled out drinks that would make the elder Kryptonians roll around in their graves. She added a special mixer to the humans’ cups, so as not to kill them with the potency.

“So why are you two fused together?” Andrea complained after downing two glasses and getting closer to Lena. “Is this what you meant when you said you share a special connection with your best friend?”

Kara couldn’t be sure if it was the speed at which she turned to Lena that made her friend choke mid sip, or the fact that Andrea had laced their fingers together.

The haughty glance Andrea shared with Kara was something she returned behind Lena’s back, though her expression softened with interest when Lena wheezed, “Not quite.”

“Then elaborate, what am I missing here?” Andrea pressed, her eyes wandering to Lena for answers that Kara didn’t want to hear.

“Nothing,” Kara blurted with such force it automatically resonated with everyone close by as guilt. She forced her lips into a smile, forgetting that simply showing her teeth didn’t quite equate to friendliness without the additional warmth behind it.

Andrea mistook it as a threat and straightened to her full height, her offended squint inspiring Lena to throw up her hand with a desperate laugh. “This is a new piece of equipment Zor-El has fashioned, isn’t it, Kara?”

Kara’s jealousy of Andrea’s closeness with her friend kept her wooden and rigid, and her voice came out almost robotically as she relented, “Yes, that’s correct.”

“So, you two are what, just testing it out on each other?” Andrea’s suspicion was almost palpable with the way she observed their odd behavior.

If only Kara hadn’t been so focused on her own, she might have detected Lena’s flustered appearance.

“Precisely,” Kara stated, unable to hide the way she naturally leaned into her friend to whisper with sincerity, “Lena’s the only one I can trust with something so precious.”

That small statement shouldn’t have sent her heart into flutters or felt so loaded with emotions she couldn’t express. She swallowed the last of her wine to drown the restlessness of her feelings and fought to contain them when Lena glanced up at her with silent questions.

“I helped your father with this project. You could have asked me,” Lex intoned with a sigh, no doubt disgruntled that his younger sister was getting to participate in the trials. “You’re not even demonstrating its full potential. The mind-link isn’t activated.”

The what?” Kara squeaked, her tone less like an authoritative figure and more like a child being tasked to face their greatest fear. She gawked at Lex when he leaned in to press a hidden button that sent a wave of energy through Kara and left the base of her skull tingling.

“Is it working?” He probed expectantly, his face showing the pride he took in this achievement of science.

I hope not
, Kara thought in panic, her palms suddenly sweaty and breathing entirely too ragged for normal conversation.

“It’s—um—sure making my brain itch. How do we turn it off?” Kara asked, as casually as anyone with deep unspeakable secrets that she had worked her whole life to keep.

Pushing the button didn’t seem to end the pulsing energy that made her back teeth vibrate, and she exhaled a sharp breath as she coached herself privately. Breathe. You’ll get through this. Just don’t think of her breasts. Think of anything else except that.

“Whose?” Lena asked, baffling Andrea and Lex as she turned to raise a dark brow in accusation at Kara. The hard line of her jaw was sharp enough to cut through the tension between them and Kara gulped reflexively.

“No—no one’s—I didn’t think of anything,” Kara sputtered, inching away from the balcony like she might at any moment try to flee.

Of course it was a terrible plan, and one that she wasn’t even consciously forming. Lena was still attached to her, and the sudden echo of Liar in her mind caught her off guard.

Kara turned herself towards a plant in the corner in the hopes of blocking the perverted fantasies that attempted to surface while Lena had full access to her brain. She alternated between thoughts of Lena and concentrating on the foliage in front of her. It felt a lot like she was developing a spontaneous psychosis.

Soft, vibrant petals. Red as her lips. Stop that, focus. Look at the colors. Don’t draw a connection to the green lace of her br–

“Brilliant invention, isn’t it?” Lex bragged, to engrossed in showing off the device to fully appreciate the stunned and mortified state of their soon-to-be leader. “With enough practice, those who wear it will be able to feel one another’s emotions. It will connect people on levels we couldn’t have dreamed of without Kryptonian technology.”

The crash course on how it all worked would have been smoother if Kara had been prepared for their normal connection to be so heightened. The wave of jealousy she experienced when Andrea clasped Lena’s hand registered all to late when the woman whispered into Lena’s ear, “We don’t need to use that for you to know what’s on my mind right now.”

Lena reeled from it the same way Kara might, their emotions weaving together.

Unable to separate her own feelings from the embarrassed and irate ones that must have been Lena’s, Kara stormed off and wrenched Lena along with her like a misbehaving child.

“Slow down,” Lena begged, her feet carrying her at a pace that wasn’t easy for her to maintain.

I can explain.

“You don’t have to explain anything,” Kara muttered as she threw smiles at diplomats even in the middle of her tumultuous emotions.

She wanted to find a place away from everyone else, away from Andrea and all she seemed to represent to Lena.

She was all over you.

“We had one date together,” Lena confided, and whether it was her own longing or Kara’s, neither of them would be able to distinguish where the ache resided.

It passed between them invisible to the naked eye, like ions charging with every step they took.

I don’t see a future with her.

“That’s none of my business,” Kara grunted, shouldering her way through a door and into a guest room where she tried to lock herself away. Except, that was impossible when the very person she hoped to keep out was right by her side, staring up at her with big, imploring eyes. “Lena–”

“For once, will you just talk to me? You don’t even have to say anything, it’s all in here.” Lena tapped her index finger against Kara’s forehead, jarring her out of her jumbled thoughts. “Let it form coherently.”

Let me in.

Kara could resist for only so long when Lena’s psyche was like an ocean around her, pulling at her beached consciousness.

I feel like I’m losing you. It’s overwhelming me today. I’m supposed to dedicate my life to helping others, and all I want is a life by your side, Lena. There’s some part of me that is devoted to doing what is best for the greater good. But devoting myself to you seems so much more important to me now. I can’t live without you.

Lena still waited, staring into Kara’s eyes in a desperation for the answers she must not have heard. “Please, Kara.”

In Kara’s head, all was silent as a void as she listened to much deeper thoughts and feelings that were her own but also came from somewhere else. She opened her mouth to explain as tears rolled down her cheeks.

“We’ve been through so much together, Lena. You’re my best friend and I’m scared to lose you.”

I would catch stars in my hands, and raise mountains on my shoulders if it meant we’d have a chance—

Lena’s eyes watered in the ensuing quiet, her lips resting in a frown that threatened to quiver. “We’re best friends and you’d be so content just to have me right next to you forever?” She nodded at that and flicked a few of her tears away on the back of her hand.

Kara felt the sudden spring release of the device, untethering them for each other. She smiled at that, believing it was a good sign until Lena moved away.

“You need to get ready to join your father and I need to go—um, find a place in the audience.” Lena sounded softer, though her voice splintered from emotions as she ran off through the crowds.

Panic rooted Kara to the spot, clutching the bracelet until the precious device creaked beneath the force of her fingers.

Flashes of Lena leaving coincided with the strangest visions of her still and lifeless, and for a fraction of a second, Kara wasn’t in her robes. A red cape billowed around her and then vanished entirely, and she wondered if the bracelet had altered her mind.

The unease of Lena walking off as Kara tried to confess her feelings only brought them all to the surface.

Kara shook with the pressure of holding them inside, her body refusing to be a vault for all that she tried to contain.

Even the calm sound of her mother’s voice failed to soothe Kara, and she felt a scorching resentment burn through her veins as she glanced in Alura’s direction.

“Kara! There you are. Your Father is nearing the end of his speech. It’s time for you to join him.”

Kara had been so young when they left Krypton that she hardly remembered her homeland. In spite of that, she had been raised to draw attention to her differences so that the humans would look to her to solve their problems. It fostered a symbiotic state between their species, and yet she was forbidden to act on her true desires. To rule on Earth, the Kryptonian bloodline had to persist.

Kara moved through the gathered crowd with an air of defiance, shoving past people who stared in awe of her father. She ignored the contract that would bind her into a ruling servitude and pressed her palms against the podium.

The room fell silent, and Kara refused to look at her Father while she gathered the courage to speak for herself without anyone else’s influence.

“Tonight will be perceived as a momentous occasion, though not for the reasons you’re all here,” Kara intoned, her words taking everyone by surprise.

“What are you doing?” Zor-El hissed in her ear.

“What’s necessary for growth.” Kara gritted out and shook her father’s hand off her arm with unrelenting determination.

For the first time in her life, she would put herself first, even if it cost everything.

Kara turned her back to him, aware of the murmurs amongst the diplomats as she searched for Lena in the crowd. Seeing her there granted Kara the resolve she needed to proceed, and she raised her chin to announce, “For two incredible decades we’ve come together to rebuild and shape Earth in order to heal the planet and ourselves. You look to us to be the ones that will forge the path ahead, but the progress we make and the responsibilities shouldn’t solely rest on Kryptonian shoulders. This is your world, and we are the most gracious of guests of it. I cannot in good conscience accept the role as your leader, when that mantle belongs to the human of your choosing. We’ve led for long enough. It’s time that power and responsibility are shared equally. You don’t need us to make the right choices. You have that within all of you, and you deserve the opportunity to prove that to yourselves.”

Gasps and cheers followed the chaotic sound of anger when Kara chose that moment to stride through the crowd and straight to Lena. She didn’t consider the ramifications or the consequences of her actions and let her heart lead her in the moment.

Kara never asked for permission as her hands cupped Lena’s cheeks, and the dalliance of their lips finally meeting was soft and short and reverent. The breath they shared was shaky at best, and Kara couldn’t tell if it was her own tears or Lena’s that wetted her cheek.

“Come with me,” Kara begged, her voice so quiet that it was almost lost to the noise of arguments and confusion surrounding them.

She pressed her forehead to Lena’s, blocking out the rest of the room as she tried to convey the love that she harbored for so long.

It must have worked, because Lena didn’t question it, didn’t try to pull back or ask what was happening. She merely uttered the only word that was of importance. “Where?”

Everywhere. Life without loving you isn’t worth living and I never should have waited to tell you that.”

Kara knew Lena’s answer by the way she bit her lip, and without time to say any sort of goodbyes, they ran hand in hand through the crowd.

The only thing more exhilarating than stealing one of the Kryptonian ships that had docked at her home was having Lena in her arms a moment later.

Lena wriggled out of her robes even though she had less room to maneuver than when they were attached at the arm. She moved Kara backwards in the cockpit, cupping her face in her hands as they kissed.

“I was beginning to think it would take some other kind of life-altering event for you to come to terms with your true feelings for me,” Lena breathed out in the reciprocated heat from their lips locking for the first time.

Kara combed her fingers into Lena’s hair and slipped an arm around her to bring her closer. She savored the chance to touch and feel Lena react to the warmth of her hands gliding down sensitive skin. Lena unclasped her bra, and Kara slipped it away with a soft groan and full body shiver of gratitude.

“Nothing will make me hold back now,” Kara promised.

She meant that in every sense and proved it by running her fingertips over Lena’s nipples, pinching the stiffened little peaks just to soothe their ache with the warmth of her mouth. The boldness of her assertion culminated in Lena wrapping her arms around her shoulders, and Kara lifted her by the backside, not to carry her off or find the bed, but to keep her as close as possible.

The intimacy of tasting Lena’s skin brought a flush to Kara’s cheeks. She moaned her gratitude at finally acting on the love that grew within her year after year and puckered noisily to tease Lena.

“I’ve wanted this from you, Kara. I knew what you were thinking in your bathroom and tried to entice you into acting,” Lena confided, her airy whimper pushing her breasts into Kara’s face for more worship.

They had barely done anything and already Kara trembled, so eager and overwhelmed to share this side of herself with her best friend. She looped the tip of her tongue in languid swirls, pulling on Lena’s nipple just to watch her lidded eyes flutter shut. “What else have you wanted, Lena? How long have you desired my touch?”

“Long enough to know your hands are the only ones I need,” Lena whispered, her shy words and vulnerable disposition inspiring Kara to finally move them to the bed.

She lay Lena out with reverence on top of the sheets and removed her own robes in kind. In spite of her toned physique and taller stature, Kara experienced a nervousness that disappeared as Lena beckoned to her with an outstretched hand.

Lena had soft, full breasts and a scant strip of hair above her pussy. Kara knelt on the mattress, leaning back on her heels as she admired her best friend’s naked body. She wore her inexperience as a meek blush and reached out to caress the little patch over Lena’s labia. By contrast, Lena touched her with much more confidence, holding onto the back of Kara’s head as they kissed and slipping her tongue in between the heat of their lips.

“You might be a hero, Kara, and a leader in your own right, but I may just have to lead us in the bedroom—”

Those words shouldn’t have issued a challenge, but they moved Kara to be a little bolder. She slid her fingers down over Lena’s cunt and played with the budding arousal of her clitoris—then rubbed lower, massaging with all of her slick.

Lena gasped at the more confident motions and Kara kissed at her mouth to quiet the noises as she pushed her fingers inside. She experienced the smallest hesitation as her tips broke through the thinnest barrier, but Lena’s moan kept her from stopping. Two knuckles deep, Kara waited for Lena’s pussy to begin slow pulsations of want around her.

“Is this okay?” Kara whispered into Lena’s neck while thrusting at a tempo that corresponded to her friend’s internal clenching. “You feel so hot, Lena, and I’m already deep inside of you.”

Lena gave a rapid nod and stretched her legs open for Kara to go deeper. “I sort of can’t believe it. Oh god, you were definitely worth the wait.”

Kara grinned at the praise and caressed at the sensitive crook inside that made Lena’s thighs shake. “Does it feel good if I do this?”

“Yes, keep kissing me,” Lena requested breathlessly and grasped at Kara’s shoulders as her hips lifted off the bed.

The gentle undulation eased her open and Lena pouted her lips only to gasp when Kara settled between her thighs instead.

“What if I did that here, Lena?” Kara whispered, spreading Lena gently with her fingers. She kept her eyes on Lena’s face, even as her mouth lowered to the sweet cleft of her mound where her clitoris protruded. Kara exhaled warmly and felt as though some internal force was guiding her forward as she nuzzled lightly, parting Lena with the tip of her tongue.

The first lick tightened Lena’s inner silk, and the second drew her knees up to Kara’s ears.

Kara wasn’t sure what she was doing, only that it was good and they both appeared to enjoy it. She traced whorls around Lena’s clit, languid and slow while she pumped her fingers in and out without any rush. She wanted to spend all night exploring Lena the way she had always envisioned and conveyed it with the flutter of her tongue.

The oral caress kept Lena’s thighs clamped on either side of Kara’s head, and she moaned her encouragement when Lena’s hands lifted to her breasts. “Touch them just like I would, Lena. I want to make you breathless.”

The pretty hue of Lena’s skin reminded Kara of Earth blossoms and she inhaled the fragrance of her perfume. She stroked the delicate striations of Lena’s walls and coaxed them into the beginnings of spasm. The warm constriction pulled her fingers in deep, and she swirled her tongue in languid loops to steal Lena’s breath.

Lena stimulated her nipples with the warm brush of her fingertips and sensual pinching. Her eyes lidded from following Kara’s directions, and she wrapped her legs tighter as she gasped and groaned.

“Keep doing that – oh please, a little firmer.”

The begging sent heat all through Kara, and the quake of Lena’s thighs strengthened and traveled up her spine. She worked for her pleasure, restless and grasping at the bed and Kara’s hair.

Kara lapped at the sensitive parting of Lena’s pussy lips with ambition. Her tongue found Lena’s opening, probing between her fingers to taste. She slammed into the slick she created with her mouth and rubbed hard at Lena’s sweet spot.

The butterfly spread of Lena’s legs helped Kara to strike deeper, and at the convulsing climax of it all, they both changed forever.

Kara experienced a headrush of colliding worlds and memories of Lena: she smiled at her and moved around her office as CEO, and in other flashes of remembrance, sat down on her couch in a pair of jeans. They looked into each other’s eyes, and Kara remembered the death throes—the last time Lena’s lashes fluttered shut and the tears that dripped down her nose as they said their goodbyes.

“Kara, Kara,” Lena chanted, alive and aroused and so wet that Kara slipped another finger inside of her. “I love you.

The past ached through Kara, embedded in her like bullets, but the pain was brief when compared to the elation of their first time together. They kissed harder as Kara sat up, and Lena grabbed for her face with an aggression befitting her Lena.

“Lena, do you remember—” Kara asked, cut off by the crushing force of Lena’s lips and the scorching slip of her tongue.

“Don’t,” Lena demanded and glared her down into the bed as she eyed Kara’s body with open desire. “Don’t ruin this moment. I’ve waited an eternity for it.”

Kara choked up at the expressive hurt in Lena’s stare, but they kissed and caressed each other as young lovers, and soon Lena’s hand cupped her between the thighs.

There was nothing tentative in how effortlessly Lena’s middle finger dipped between the pale lips of Kara’s cunt. The intimate exploration was deft and deliberate and Lena drank down the surprised little moan that Kara breathed to life. Their lips were parted and almost touching, and Lena held her there as she entered her for the first time.

“So much for the Girl of Steel. You bend so beautifully, don’t you darling?” Lena’s seductive lilt held notes of bragging as Kara’s spine curved and she pleaded with her pelvis rocking into her palm. Lena slipped her finger out of Kara’s twitching velvet just to spread her with two and thumbed at her clit with the kind of finesse that came from expertise.

“For you, Lena, and nobody else,” Kara confided, unable to soothe the emotions rising within her along with the pleasure she received. She would have wept if Lena hadn’t crooked her fingers just so and manipulated the sensitive ridges that had her gasping.

“That’s what I like to hear.” Lena crooned and stroked into her like she already knew Kara’s body. The heel of her hand pressed in close over her clit and the expert thrust of her fingers made for more friction.

Kara could avoid grinding into it for only so long and soon she was moving in time with Lena. She teetered on the brink of a spectacular release and all that held her back was embarrassment.

“I know what you’re doing, Kara, and I won’t tolerate it,” Lena husked and bent down in between Kara’s legs to suck on her clitoris, which throbbed with the resolve to come undone.

“I just want this to last,” Kara gasped, mesmerized by the softest pucker of Lena’s lips around the most sensitive part of her anatomy. “Oh. Wow. Lena.”

“You think I won’t continue fucking you for hours?” Lena inquired, ridiculing Kara with a raised eyebrow and a generous swipe of her tongue. “I’m going to put your Kryptonian stamina to the test with the number of times I make you come.”

Whether from Lena’s words or other oral gifts, Kara could no longer restrain herself and undulated in supreme pleasure. She bucked through Lena’s continued devotion and the lights above her exploded like super novas as she went into an immediate second orgasm. Lena enveloped Kara’s twitching and hard clit with her lips.

Their lovemaking moved the universe around them, sank the stars into the abyss of night, and raised the sun on a new day in their world. The bed was no longer a hardened mattress aboard a ship, and Kara glanced around at the familiarities of her own apartment when she blinked again.

Lena brushed some of the slick off her face as she lifted her head up, and Kara would have believed that she was waking from a nightmare if she didn’t plainly see their robes still resting on the floor. She barely had the chance to take it all in before Lena was pumping into her with three fingers, relentless and full of energy.

“I think I’ve discovered a new kind of magic,” Lena declared and bit down at Kara’s lips as they kissed.

Kara rocked along with the rhythm set by Lena’s fingers drilling deep into her core. She rubbed her own clit at a speed too fast to process and her shoulders rose off the bed as she came.

“Fuck,” Kara enunciated, despite how she reddened from using language she typically avoided.

That brought a delighted and curious grin to Lena’s face, and she began thrusting like she wanted to hear Kara say it again.

“I’ve never heard you curse in all our years of friendship. What else don’t I know about you?” Lena questioned with mock seriousness and a fake frown on her lips. “Please tell me you have a secret stash of sex toys lying around this apartment.”

Kara would never admit to it and clenched her teeth together to hold a breath that she huffed out nervously in the end.

Lena was smart enough to pick up on her guilty little glance towards the bureau and she rose from the bed to dig around in the drawers. She located a vibrating wand, a bullet and a strap-on that excited her enough to swing around with it dangling from her fingertips.

“I don’t suppose you bought this to use with someone else,” Lena whispered with her brows drawn inward, and from the way her face threatened to fall, Kara knew what was on her mind.

“No—no, there was no one,” Kara hurried to promise as she lit up with a bright blush of humiliation. “I had you in mind when I bought it. I tried it on once—”

Lena smirked and began fitting the harness to Kara’s hips. “So you wanted to be the one to wear it.”

It flustered Kara as Lena secured the straps around her and fixed the silicone attachment at the front of it. The cool blue matched her super suit, and Kara could see the gleam of recognition in Lena’s gaze as she stared at the shiny length.

“When exactly did you buy this, Kara? I’m getting distinct Supergirl flies in and fucks me all over my apartment vibes from it.”

The deadpan way Lena teased her was both arousing and unnerving as Kara considered all the time she wasted never owning her feelings. She tucked her chin to her chest, bashful under Lena’s observant eyes, and laughed, “Even Kryptonite wouldn’t be enough to make me tell you that.”

“So that long, huh? Are we talking pre-witch abilities?” Lena mused, cupping the apex of her thighs to smear her arousal across her palm. She took hold of the shaft as Kara bit at her lips and pumped her fist over the toy as if Kara could really feel it.

The visual was enough to drop Kara’s jaw and her defenses, and she averted her eyes for only a moment. She groaned as Lena slipped the bullet vibe against her clit, the silent vibrations jerking her hips forward and pushing the silicone through Lena’s clasped hand.

Lena was so in tune with all of her tells that Kara knew she was doomed the second she saw a smirk forming on those beautifully red lips. “Was I still the CEO of L-Corp?”

Guilt didn’t give Kara away so much as the erotic sound of her moan at the thought of Lena in tight skirt and low cut blouse. All the years of pent up sexual tension could have killed anyone lesser, and Kara was unapologetic in her lust when Lena flashed her a private grin and pressed a kiss to the head of the cock.

“To think of all the fights we could have fixed if you’d walked in wearing this. I bet you wanted to resolve all of our disagreements by bending me across the desk.” There was a smugness to Lena’s voice that Kara found sexy — nothing overbearing, but the confidence she exuded could have brought Kara to her knees if Lena wasn’t on hers already.

“The couch, the balcony, your walls, the lab – wherever I could get you first,” Kara rambled, her eyes glassy and head tipped back as Lena increased the intensity of the vibe.

The targeted sensation was too much for Kara to resist and she moved her hips along with it, groaning from the pleasure and how Lena read her every need.

Lena manipulated the vibe over the swollen tip of Kara’s clit. Her eyes glimmered with wickedness at the cadence of the soft buzz and Kara thrusting into her hand. The stimulation and requited feelings all played a part in Kara’s fantasies – and she drove her pelvis forward for the fulfillment of a hot orgasm.

Kara stumbled at the completion of it, and Lena worked her up again by sliding the vibe into a nestled place behind the strap-on. It continued to hum as Kara positioned Lena at the end of the bed and rubbed the phallus in between her thighs.

“I wanted to tell you how I felt,” Kara confided, bittersweet but honest and for once embracing her true desires. “I told you a hundred times in my head that I loved you, but every time you walked through my door at the end of the day, your face lit up, and everything I rehearsed vanished. I convinced myself just being around you was enough, but it never was, Lena. I needed you in my arms and in my bed.”

“You have me in your bed,” Lena pointed out and slid thighs apart for Kara to push inside of her.

Kara intended to make up for the moments they should have shared and rocked into Lena with meaningful, slow strokes. Her hands drifted up Lena’s legs to clasp her supple waist. She moved her hips in circuits that pumped the silicone shaft deep into Lena’s pussy, lubricating the girth with all of her arousal.

For all of the super speed she possessed, Kara wanted nothing more than to make love at human pace. She luxuriated in every hitch of breath and whispery moan that she evoked, her wandering hands cupping at Lena’s breasts to play with her nipples. “I always knew you’d fit perfectly in my palms. This was all I thought about whenever you wore those lowcut dresses.”

“You’re the reason I started wearing them in the first place,” Lena intoned, her lip quivering with the steady thrum of Kara’s thumb on her clit. They moved against one another harmoniously, with Kara’s pelvis pressing forward to give Lena a reason to undulate.

Their sensual grinding kept them close, and Kara grinned into a kiss that ended when Lena sucked on her bottom lip. The heat between them was rising faster than Kara’s thrusts and she bottomed out to test Lena’s threshold. “Is it still on the table to resolve any future disagreements like this?”

“Only if it ends with multiple orgasms,” Lena’s laughter soon changed with the charge of Kara’s thrusts, and her moans carried all through Kara’s apartment.

They continued to experiment with ways of giving and receiving pleasure throughout the morning and only when they were thoroughly sated did they decide to see their family.

It wasn’t until they flew to the Tower later in the afternoon that Kara realized the date had been set back to February 12th. She saw a dangerous portal opening behind them on the balcony.

Lena stepped forward in self-sacrifice just as she had once before – but this time Kara recognized the threat and knew the face of the person who emerged from the pulsating blue ether.

He was one of the young men who accompanied Lex to the party confirming her leadership in the other universe. It  was some time after Kara’s deflection of his attack that she made an important connection. He shouted something about the destruction of his world and Kryptonian overlords and Kara wondered if her actions brought about some kind of disaster there.

“Quantum Entanglement,” Brainy later summarized with his fingers steepled and his eyes glinting in fascination. “That man apparently came here to carry out an act of revenge, but you went to his world after he murdered Lena for coming to your defense. Who can say what is a cause and what is an effect? Did you go to that other world and set off the chain of events that both killed and saved Lena?"

Kara didn’t have any answers about how their verses and timelines connected, but she did have Lena whole and safe in her arms now  – and she would have traveled to every world in the remaining multiverse to make that possible.

Thanks for sharing ;)

I'm thrilled you love it! I'll add it to a poll for continuation when that comes up again, though I have to confess out of all of the pieces I've ever written for Supercorp, I found this one super challenging. That's why it took me forty years, I'm ashamed to say. 😅 I'm so happy you liked it that much though. Thank you!

And I’m super excited to read more. Sorry I got excited and didn’t even finish my thought. I’m good I swear. Between this and Doctor Who yesterday I am being fed and starved and all of the above all at the same time. I’m dead. RIP.

OMG I FREAKING LOVE THIIIIIS! I’m fine. This chapter was written so perfectly. I. Am. Obsessed.

@cliterature yeah I'll be posting it at the next prompt call. But I'm sure it'll be dismissed by the other readers🤷🏻‍♀️ as it's just so 'normal'.

I wanted to toss in some humor to lighten it all up and hopefully there was enough of that to make it work. 😂 One of the things I tried to do was throw in a lot of threatening people to build tension, and I still feel like the ending isn't quite right, and this might be an odd one-off situation where I go back and tweak it to make the story fall more in line with the visuals/plot ideas that occurred to me. I really struggled with this prompt because I had my heart set on this whole other story I wanted to tell, and that's definitely my Achilles heel as a writer -- thinking about stuff too much before I write it. Anyway, I am just glad I finished it and that you enjoyed it! Thank you! 😊

Going to be completely transparent by saying the soulmate concept was SO hard to write this time because I came up with 3 different stories as a stand-in for the actual story I wanted to write (which honestly would have been a multi-chapter and probably too long for this prompt fill). Anyway, nothing else could compare to this ideal fantasy scenario I worked out in my head and therefore I stressed the entire time I wrote this. 😂 I'm truly happy you enjoyed the story that much, considering all of my mental obstacles. I feel like a deserve a Darwin Award for this one and not a publishing contract. Lmao. But you are JUST so kind and awesome and thank you for rescuing my pride with your kind words! 💙❤️💙😊

Any particular context you were thinking, and might this be a prompt for the next poll? ☺️ Happy you liked this one!

God a love a good mind meld! And Krypton/Earth blending together is always one of my favorite little tropes. Ngl I thought at the end the guy was Ben since there was so much emphasis on him earlier about Kara not trusting him and since Lex was decent/good in that other world (or at the very least not an immediate ass) but honestly I’m not too worried about it. The best part for me is the slide from sweet kinda unassuming Lena of the other world into The Lena we know and love. Love that you kept her devious and sort of blunt way of talking with Kara during them getting it on. Great stuff as always!

Rocket

HOLY FUCKING SWEET MOTHER OF this was so elegantly and beautifully written. I adore your soul mate stories you really are the best at writing them. This was tremendous and marvelous enjoyed everything about this. My SuperCorp heart is so full of joy. Thank you so much for writing this masterpiece you have proven once again why we all have become your patrons. WOW. You really deserve a writing and publishing contract. AfuckingMAZING. As always hope you are safe and well. Thank you once again for gifting us with your stupendous writing. ❤️💙❤️💙🤩🤩😊🥹👍🏻👍🏻

I miss/missed a fluffy but hot supercorp romance. Would love to read something like this with an ABO reference too. Fluffy romantic breeding 😉

Thank you. 😊 Definitely. ❤️💙

Such a sweet, sweet story. Love never dies. ❤️❤️

I edited it now and hopefully it's clearer... 😂 Let me know if it's not. I'm so tired I'm borderline delirious, apparently!

I have barely a functioning brain cell left right now and wowee mistakes galore at the end there. Lmao. I edited it a little bit but I’m going to tweak the ending a bit more tomorrow — hopefully it makes sense now? I didn’t get into it in depth because I wasn’t sure anyone would care, but I was writing a Supergirl-twist on how “The Stranger” (other Lex who isn’t Lex) came to be in the Superman and Lois verse (and why Kara was kind of absent). I don’t know if it was a great idea to mix canon with an AU but my other ideas for this story didn’t work out. Had fun writing the other verse and the two verses re-merging though! 😊 I’m glad you liked the bracelet — requested by the prompter and hopefully brought some comic relief. 💙❤️

You lost me at the ending (so did Lena die again?), but I loved the fact that wherever they are, they’d always find their way back to each other’s lives. And the soulmate bracelet! Loved the concept. 💙
