Progress Update 8/15/20 + What's Coming
Added 2020-08-16 01:30:21 +0000 UTCThe most difficult part of the script is finished, but it's already massive. It likely will be 1.5 to 2 hours long, but there will be perhaps only one or two spaces given over to source footage. The rest will all be narration. This is in contrast to the Wings video, of which approximately half was source footage. This topic has been incredibly complicated, and putting it together in a way that both works as a story and makes it accessible while capturing the complexity of it has been difficult, but I think that the effort and time has been worth it. Arcaxon is hard at work on the graphics, and Ryan's music so far is some of the best I've ever heard. As I write the script, he's been writing rough drafts of music that will be adjusted to fit the narration, and I've given him a remarkable amount of leeway. What has resulted is a soundtrack that carefully follows the narration, accentuating the tone of the story as it progresses. I haven't made it easy on him; the cerebral nature of the topic sometimes makes it difficult to extract a clear emotion, but Ryan has done a wonderful job. I expect the video to be out sometime next month.
After this video, however, I need some space. There has been a personal tragedy in my life, and I need some time away. While I still will be working some next month, work on this video might be slow for a while, and afterwards I want to spend time on a personal non-DtRH-related project which I aim to make publicly available for free. As such, I will likely suspend Patreon donations for the month of September and return in October.
I'll see you all soon.

I'm sorry to hear about the tragedy. Take whatever time you need and do your best to take care of yourself. I'll add one more voice to the "I don't mind if you don't suspend Patreon" chorus.
2020-08-24 16:10:38 +0000 UTCPlease don't suspend it, I'm certain myself and nearly all of your other patrons would have zero issues continuing to support you irregardless of the circumstances.

2020-08-21 22:00:42 +0000 UTCFred, I think your people have spoken; treat your time away as PTO, don't suspend donations. You've made this your full-time job and we all see that.
2020-08-19 13:28:33 +0000 UTCI've got to mirror a lot of the sentiments of the other commenters on here in saying we love your content no matter what you're producing. It's incredibly honorable to say you'll suspend your patreon while taking that break, but please don't place yourself in financial jeopardy to do so. I wouldn't be a backer if I weren't on board with these longer term, high effort projects for sporadic but incredible videos and maintaining you is part of that.

2020-08-18 17:05:25 +0000 UTCI'm really sorry to hear that. Take all the time you need bro.
2020-08-18 00:31:56 +0000 UTCVery sorry about what ever happened to you. Don't push yourself too hard, take care. Wish you the best!
2020-08-16 19:53:53 +0000 UTCI'm sorry for whatever occurred and wish you the best in dealing with it. Please take your time and don't feel like you have to suspend. We want you to remain happy and healthy both mentally and physically. I understand that it is because you would not be making content, but I want to support you still regardless. To be honest I support creators because I want them to live happy lives because I like not only their content, but oftentimes them as people. You are no different. Dealing with a tragedy is already difficult enough, worrying about finances on top of that is just more stressful. Besides, with what I've heard of this next one, you're going to blow our minds and deserve a bit of a break. You already work hard, no need to push yourself.

2020-08-16 18:38:09 +0000 UTCSo sorry to hear about the tragedy. Don't suspend your income because you're taking time out to grieve, most of us are happy to continue our donations for the time you're taking off. Besides, you're talking about creating another thing and releasing it which is what we are paying you for. Thank you so much for being considerate of your fans. You work so hard on your content and the effort always pays off. Glad the video is coming along, and I look forward to seeing it once it's out. Take care, Fred ❤❤
2020-08-16 10:29:41 +0000 UTCI'm so sorry to hear that. Please, take good care of yourself! I've been going through some though times myself, so I know how much harder it is to deal with it, given current events and the increased isolation... I want you to know you have my full support. I think situations like this are the reason Patreon exists. Ad revenue knows no compassion, the moment you stop releasing content the money dries out. Patreon is supposed to be different. It's supposed to be a way you can turn this into a propper job, part of which is a paid leave in situations like this. I can't speak for all Patrons, especially since I only joined recently, but I personally don't view Patreon donations as a "tip" for the content made, but as way of supporting the creator so that they can work on their crafts in the long term. So while I'll respect your decision, I urge you not to suspend the donations, or at the very least put it up to a vote.
