I Need Your Feedback
Added 2020-01-30 23:08:09 +0000 UTCRight now, I'm facing a rather difficult decision, and I'd like to hear the opinions of my patrons, since you all are a large part of what allows me to make my videos full-time.
As many of you have seen, I've begun to branch out just a little bit in my free time, experimenting with other forms of interaction with my viewing public. Shows like The Warrens and joining people like Jabroni Mike for livestreams have become something that I enjoy doing every so often. These are things that, barring some sort of catastrophic event, will never supplant or impinge upon the production of Down the Rabbit Hole; it is still very much my passion, and that passion has only grown with time.
However, I am afraid that these instances of more candid speech are betraying the expectations of conduct and behavior that my viewers have come to expect from me.
And so, I'm asking all of you: how does this extraneous content make you feel? I'm certainly not asking any of you to make the decision for me, but rather, I'm curious as to what your gut reaction might be as an individual viewer.

You’re fine. I love the time and effort you put into DTRH and I would definitely be saddened If it were to slow or suffer- but you should do whatever makes you happy. Life is too short.
2020-02-08 08:12:07 +0000 UTCWhile I was surprised at first to see you in something like a Deadwing Dork stream, I actually like it. It makes you feel more human and is actually what made me become a patron.

2020-02-04 11:37:48 +0000 UTCI don't mind your participation to the Warrens, nor the way you behave their. Your partner style of humour and delivery isn't for me though, too blunt and going for an easy shock value, and it makes listening to them a little less pleasant.

2020-02-04 10:22:25 +0000 UTCI've seen you pop up on DeadwingDork stuff a few times and it's nice to see a more 'human' side like the things on the second channel. Down The Rabbit Hole is what I found your content through and as long as that's unaffected, it's all fine. After all, even British newsreaders are allowed to have a personality now.

2020-02-02 23:18:04 +0000 UTCQuite honestly I think your interactions with Mike are really good. You two have a really good chemistry that comes off as quite genuine and "on brand", for lack of a better term. That being said I think your appearances on other people's streams and podcasts, especially when they cover topics similar to yours in a more edgy manner don't quite gel for me.
2020-02-01 09:17:55 +0000 UTCI think that as long as you keep your DtRH stuff separate, it's all right. I enjoy "shitpost-y Fred" as much as I enjoy DtRH Fred; I don't think YouTubers in general need to stick to one tone for their entire online presence. Besides, if people aren't interested in finding out about your more candid side, they can just stick to DtRH. I personally think the current set up you have is great; that is, detached content (DtRH, Grimm Archives [even if it's discontinued iirc?], follow up livestreams on previous topic with the same tone) in the main channel, and your other channel for similar topics but covered less "professionally".

2020-02-01 06:02:16 +0000 UTCI haven't listened to any of the extraneous content. So long as none of them detract from what you put into DTRH, do what you want and enjoy yourself man.
2020-02-01 00:28:13 +0000 UTCI listened to both Warren episodes and I absolutely loved them. I understand that there is a certain tone you want to put forth on your Down the Rabbit Hole videos, but I see nothing wrong with you showcasing other parts of your personality on other mediums like the Warrens podcasts.

2020-01-31 19:13:29 +0000 UTCCertainly doesn't bother me. As long as Down the Rabbit Hole continues to come out I figure that it's money well spent on my part, and I don't see a reason you can't do other things. It might seem jarring to some people being "out of character" in other places, but that's only because of the format of DTRH has set certain (maybe artificial?) expectations. By that I mean you being the objectively neutral narrator of DTRH in all real-life contexts, and that expectation might be there because that's probably the first experience people had with you. Lots of content creators rely entirely on their candidness and always being "out of character"; basically the polar opposite. You're still delivering on the content people decided to be patrons for, so I say do whatever you feel like doing.
2020-01-31 16:22:13 +0000 UTCI really enjoy your more candid livestreams. I've seen most of the Jabroni Mike ones, both Warrens episodes, and that one you guested on regarding the zoosadists. It's refreshing seeing you interact with others in a non-DTRH context. I recall that after the Guru Larry Game-Life DTRH, you got some flak for having a guest. These streams seem like a nice alternative; let DTRH remain calm and neutral and The Fred Show, and the streams you can be more silly with your chums.
2020-01-31 15:27:01 +0000 UTCIt's certainly strange discovering you outside of character the first time, but people have seen Sir David Attenborough out of character and it's hardly hurt his reputation as the essential narrator.

2020-01-31 10:53:07 +0000 UTCI only watch DtRH and The Warrens, but TW doesn’t damage your credibility in my eyes or anything like that. Though it was pretty weird at first coming from only DtRH

2020-01-31 07:00:18 +0000 UTCThey're both great honestly. I'm catching up to Semenology right now, and between that and the "Bear and Bird" review, you've got great energy with your collaborators and are clearly having fun. Do what recharges you.

2020-01-31 06:52:49 +0000 UTCI personally love everything you do, DTRH and collabs. I intent to keep supporting you and I see it as I get lots of value for my money!

2020-01-31 06:49:20 +0000 UTCI'd like to think your fanbase is level-headed and adult enough to separate what you do with Down the Rabbit Hole from other content. Don't feel like you need to censor your personality or hold back outside of DTRH, I feel like the highly proffessional tone, importance placed on factual representation and conduct really fits with DTRH and you're free to be a lot more loose with other less documentary style content. You keep being you Fred, love your stuff.

2020-01-31 05:14:36 +0000 UTCI haven't watched The Warrens yet, so I can't comment on it directly, but I watched the stream you did with DeadwingDork and mostly enjoyed it. I do think you might want to be careful, as I think you've carved out a unique niche as someone who can talk about these controversial internet figures from a position of neutrality. You're someone to refer to about someone like DSP or Wings without having to be lumped in with the "detractors" or "trolls". I think the more content you make where you make fun of or mock internet personalities, even personalities as ridiculous and reprehensible as Woof, you run the risk of losing that veneer. That's not necessarily a problem if you don't want to maintain that image, but I think it has elevated you above other people chronicling these internet sideshows. I wouldn't want to see the quality and professionalism you put in your videos get lost in the morass of "detractor" content.
2020-01-31 05:14:11 +0000 UTCI rather like the candid speech moments, myself. Your "looser" stuff does make DTRH shine even more 'cause comparing that to your Warrens stuff really puts into perspective how objective--and thus, informative--the former is and how gargantuan the undertaking actually is in the long run. But your other channel bits are very entertaining in of themselves, and I ended up stopping what I was doing when listening to the Mobility Mary one to watch the clips and just laugh out loud.

2020-01-31 05:06:39 +0000 UTCListening to some of your podcasts while I work is on my to-watch list, but as long as you don't stop doing DTRH I really don't mind either way!

2020-01-31 04:49:26 +0000 UTCYour "more candid speech" is still more level-headed and reasonable than most creators I follow, so you keep doing you broheim
2020-01-31 04:45:41 +0000 UTCI don't really see any difference in your speech or how you present yourself between your videos and your collabs, other than your videos being more structured. I love seeing you pop up in other peoples videos and I've found some new creators just because you appeared with them, namely Deadwing Dork. And I definitely want to see you get together with Internet Historian again. I want more of this content.
