Missing You - Part 2

“You — don’t remember me?” Kara croaked out in devastation, and clenched her teeth before she uttered an insane declaration that would frighten Lena. She made a sound that was close to a whimper and gulped down her words.
But I love you and we belong together.
It reminded her of the day she opened up to Lena about her true identity, when the fear of losing her entirely was overwhelming. Rigid cords of tension formed in her neck as she repressed sobs. She acted on all of her panic and deactivated her Super suit as a last candle of hope that Lena would remember something about her — about Kara.
“It’s me, Lena. It’s Kara. Just Kara.” She wore a cardigan and a pair of blue slacks, and pushed her glasses higher on the bridge of her nose with a desperation to look just like the starry-eyed reporter who had shown up to help Clark interview Lena for the Daily Planet.
“I’m sorry. I don’t recall ever meeting you.“ Lena frowned in bewilderment as she stared at Kara in her glasses. “Do you disclose your identity to everyone you save?”
“You remember that I saved you?” Kara exhaled with happiness expanding her chest.
“No, but why else would you be here in my hospital room?” Lena searched Kara’s eyes and took in her crumbling hope, then lifted her brows as she drew a conclusion. “Unless this has to do with my last name.”
Kara sniffled hard and pursed her lips together to prevent herself from crying. “Yeah, I would like you to change it to Danvers.” It was rare that she blurted the first thoughts that came to mind, but she felt a little crazed and desperate.
Her remark flew over Lena’s head and she knew better than to explain it when it seemed like Lena was on the verge of pressing the button to call a nurse.
Kara rushed out in a blur and went around the waiting room gathering up all of the recent papers and magazines. She brought her bounty back to Lena and spread them all out to reveal the dates.
“We’ve been working as a team for years,” Kara revealed and pointed to a headline about their efforts to stop Lex’s plot for world domination. “Most recently I was helping you stop Lex, and he used a device called the Phantom Zone Projector on me. You devised a plan to get me home, and in the process, a phantom took your memories.”
Lena scrunched her brows in wary and confused silence, and then located her phone in a plastic bag next to her bed. She tried to unlock it with her passcode and typed in the wrong numbers. After a few tries, she guessed with better accuracy, checked the current news, and flipped through her photo album.
“I need to tell you everything that happened in the Phantom Zone,” Kara stuttered and twisted her hands anxiously as she pulled out some of the crumpled love letters Lena sent her. “We — we – uh — made – suhh-stuff.”
Lena peered up at her in askance and put her out of her misery. “Did we have sex?”
Kara answered with an awkward smile. Her alpha pheromones were enthusiastic, apologetic and sorrowful all at the same time. Lena shifted in bed, and there was no doubt in Kara’s mind that the omega could still feel an ache where the knot had been.
She watched the slow process of Lena accepting the confusing circumstances and waited with patience.
Lena could decide to ask for privacy or more information, and Kara would do whatever was necessary to make her feel comfortable.
“I believe you,” Lena breathed out after a minute of tense silence and scrolled through her photos, pausing on a snap of them cuddled together. “I don’t think you’d go to this much effort just to delude me.”
“Delude you? No. Never,” Kara blurted and sat down at the very end of Lena’s bed with the fear of pushing too much. “There have been times in the past when I had to keep you in the dark because I’m Supergirl, and I would never do that to you again. I promised you complete honesty and I want to help you get your memories back. I’ll work out a plan with our friends, and we’ll find the phantom who did this—“
She started to stand up with the plan of going straight to Alex, but Lena grabbed her by the hand.
“That sounds like a risk,” Lena cautioned and continued to hold Kara’s hand to keep her from darting off. “I’ve read all of the articles about Supergirl. I know your pod got knocked off course and that you were stuck in the Phantom Zone for years. I don’t want you rushing into danger. Right now, all I want is to go home. I want to shower and sleep in my own bed. Since you’re apparently my alpha—“
“I’ll go with you,” Kara offered in an instant, snapping to attention, even as she planned to check in with Alex and explore all of their options for restoring Lena’s memories. “I’ll find a nurse and ask her to discharge you.”
“Thank you.”
Vulnerable omega scent swirled around Lena and Kara grasped her hand for a while longer before speeding off to look for a nurse and all of their friends.
She found the nurse and put in a request to start the discharge paperwork, then located her friends in the hall. Brainy was loaded down with food from the hospital cafe and Nia held a bag from the gift shop. Not far away, Alex was consulting with Lena’s doctor and Kelly rubbed at her girlfriend’s back to give comfort.
“Hey,” Alex called out as soon as she spotted Kara, and said a few final words to the doctor before running towards her sister. She hugged Kara and stepped away just far enough to look at her face. “How are you holding up? The doctor feels reasonably sure that Lena will wake up—”
“She’s awake,” Kara explained to relieve some of Alex’s worry, and then addressed all of her friends as she provided an update on Lena’s condition. “She just can’t remember the last few years of her life. Phantoms have the power to make people forget themselves. As you already know, they can even possess their victims, but in this case the phantom didn’t get that far. We need to try to open up a portal to the same location where you found us—”
Kara hesitated in sharing the rest of her plan when she noticed all of her friends were staring past her. She swung around to find Lena in the dusty clothes from the Phantom Zone, ready to head out.
“The doctors are releasing me on the condition that someone will be staying with me at home,” Lena whispered, like she was uncertain about speaking in front of their friends and confused about why they were all excited to see her.
Before Kara had the chance to discourage it, everyone crushed around them in a hug. “Lena, this is Alex, Kelly, Nia and Brainy. They’re our friends.”
Kara watched as the helpless omega reciprocated with a smile spreading across her face, in spite of not knowing a single person who was embracing her.
“I have friends?” Lena asked with a quiet laugh of surprise and a softness in her eyes.
“Of course you have friends,” Brainy intoned, taking full offense to that.
“I know you want to jump right back into the Phantom Zone to retrieve Lena’s memories, but there are some other options we can consider,” Kelly muttered with gentleness and glanced towards Lena like she was trying to figure out her possible receptivity to alternative plans. “I’m Dr. Kelly Olsen, and one of the things I do is help patients recover lost memories.”
Kara sensed the fear in Lena’s pheromones and knew she would decline the offer before she even shook her head.
Lena had never gone to therapy to work through her painful memories, and Kara was certain the omega would never feel comfortable with the idea of letting someone probe her mind.
“Right now I just want to recover at home,” Lena softly replied and slipped her hand into Kara’s without any hesitancy.
Kara had no idea how to behave — whether she should be trying to encourage Lena to undergo the therapy, or just twining their fingers together and supporting the omega’s decision. She went with the second option and she could feel her friends’ curiosity when everyone saw them holding hands.
“It seems like Kara is going to accompany you?” Alex intoned and peered at their interlocked fingers in subtle approval before sending Kara a nonverbal warning not to take things too fast. “We’ll head back to the Fortress and brainstorm some ways to help. For now, I don’t think we need to be too hasty. It’s better to let you rest for a few days.”
Lena nodded in agreement and looked to Kara with trust. “Shall we?”
Had Lena not just suffered traumatic memory loss, Kara would have flown her home, but instead they took a taxi and Lena stared out the window at the city for the entire ride.
It must have been daunting for Lena to arrive at the penthouse filled with her belongings without any recollection of having lived there. Lena walked around for a good ten minutes, picking up framed pictures and sorting through drawers.
“So, I’m the CEO of L-Corp?” Lena asked as she held her tablet and looked at the signature that was still on all of her emails.
“You sort of stepped down, or at least that’s what my sister Alex told me — the one with the short hair,” Kara clarified and wandered over to a shelf to look at the pictures of her and Lena.
“I never wanted the responsibility of the company, so I guess that’s for the best. Who’s the new CEO?” Lena frowned and clicked on the company site to find Lex’s picture staring back at her.
Kara took the tablet out of her hands and placed it aside as she realized Lena’s distress. “It will be okay. I won’t let him tarnish your good name. Besides, you’re so talented, Lena. You could start a new company of your own.”
“To be honest, working at L-Corp was never my dream,” Lena whispered and they both hovered too close to each other, to the point they moved away at the same time and cleared the air with awkward coughing.
“You never me told me you had another dream.” Kara took a seat on the couch and Lena opened the cabinets in the kitchenette in search of two glasses.
Even without years of history, they were attracted to each other and Lena’s heat would be setting in soon. Kara made a mental note to stock up on suppressors and other items to make an omega’s heat more pleasant.
“I want to work in cancer research, and maybe in a few years from now, I’ll have a family,” Lena replied and poured Kara some whisky, which she brought over before bothering with her own glass. She lifted the bottle again and shoved it far back in the cabinet, opting for water instead.
Kara had never known this Lena, who had much different ambitions than the woman who took over at L-Corp after her brother was incarcerated.
“You actually found a cure for cancer,” Kara disclosed with a smile and drank the whisky all in one gulp.
“Oh god, do we have children I can’t remember?” Lena asked in horror and chose the seat beside Kara, her eyes wide as she glanced around for any evidence of kids.
“No—no—we don’t have any,” Kara laughed with an anxious exhalation that brought warmth to her cheeks when Lena stared at her expectantly. “I mean, I would love to do that one day. It’s just that we—um—we’ve only started to uh—explore—the more physical side of our relationship.”
Kara couldn’t meet Lena’s eyes after that. She picked at the cuff of her cardigan and pressed her chin to her chest in a move that fogged up a lens of her glasses with the heat of embarrassment.
“So, our first time happened when I found you in the Phantom Zone?” Lena asked, an amused slant at the corner of her lips alluding to how she felt about that. “Who knew I’d be such a romantic.”
The banter was so familiar that Kara couldn’t help the way she grinned, albeit wryly at the omega. “Oh well, I’ve got news for you, you’re actually super romantic. One time you filled my entire office with flowers. It was like working in a botanical garden.”
Lena shifted closer when Kara pulled out her own phone to scroll through her pictures, and they settled naturally side by side just as they always had over the years.
“I guess I must really like you to make such a grand gesture, huh?” The teasing lilt to Lena’s voice flustered Kara, the casual flirtation so close to their own normal dynamic that Kara had to remind herself that Lena, her Lena, had been erased when the Phantom had grabbed her.
“If you think that’s grand, just wait until I tell you about the time you boughtCatCo for me.” Kara side-eyed Lena to gauge her reaction and flipped through the albums on her phone to find less extravagant things to focus on. If she overwhelmed Lena with too much information, she might end up doing more harm than good. “This is a kombucha place we tried together when it opened a few years ago. Trying new stuff is kind of our thing.”
“Oh, I can tell this one was my idea,” Lena crooned with a tap through the pictures of Kara grimacing and gulping down different drinks.
“Yeah, I think you suggested it when you caught me scarfing donuts after a bad day at work,” Kara chuckled and hit the play button on a video from a night out at another restaurant.
In the footage Lena took her hair out of a clip, shook it all out, and salted her hand before doing a shot. She waggled her eyebrow at the camera a few times and Kara could hear her own heavier breathing on the audio.
“This is kinda embarrassing.” Kara slapped a hand over her head as the camera direction flipped around and she saw herself literally drool over Lena. She hid it behind her hand and bent her head so Lena wouldn’t see, and now Kara was sharing it with the omega on purpose.
“Don’t beat yourself up, I knew exactly what I was doing to you,” Lena confided with a sly twist of her lips and slipped her hand onto Kara’s forearm.
Kara came close to crushing her phone with the way she spun towards Lena, brimming with hope. “You remember?” she asked in a hush, the smile on her face faltering when Lena took her hand in the same, comforting way she always did when she was trying to soothe her.
“No,” Lena whispered forlornly, her kind eyes holding Kara’s as she imparted some wisdom, “but I know I would never wear a top that low cut unless I was trying to seduce the person I was out with.”
Kara masked her sadness by overcompensating with laughter, and if Lena detected the pain in her pheromones, she was polite and chose not to draw attention to it.
“This feels like insider information I shouldn’t be privy to knowing. Tell me more,” Kara urged and pushed her glasses up with an expectant flutter of her eyelashes.
The goofy behavior still worked on Lena, and the omega leaned into Kara’s shoulder to take over with the little tour of their memories.
“Okay, see this one?” Lena played a short clip of herself in an off the shoulder dress from one of the galas they had attended a few years ago. “I touch my neck and look up at you, then bite my lip. Classic flirtation techniques. I’m practically announcing I want to kiss you.”
Kara let out a slow breath as Lena demonstrated her powers with a laugh. It might have all been for the purposes of making a point, though she hooked Kara with her eyes and it was hard to shake off the feeling that they should have kissed. Their fingers inched closer and Kara worked up the courage to grasp Lena’s hand and hold onto it.
“Maybe you can explain what’s happening here.” Kara scrolled through to a photo reel from a day by the lake. Lena was lounging on a picnic blanket in a glamorous sun dress and giving Kara come-hither eyes.
“I would, but both times you almost said the word sex today, your face has turned so bright that you looked like you were having a bad allergic reaction.” Lena grinned in amusement, which ebbed away as her heat began in earnest.
The sweet fragrance of Lena’s natural perfume intensified first, and Kara tried her best not to huff at the scent.
Lena’s nipples were already pebbled beneath her shirt and oh, Rao, Kara was staring at them. She tried to angle herself away from Lena to give the omega some space and got two inches before a warm hand clasped her thigh.
This was bad, this was so bad because Kara’s alpha was already reacting to Lena’s heat and her pants were starting to tighten in a very obvious way.
She covered herself with a pillow in the hope that Lena hadn’t noticed and laughed at her own antics to try and diffuse the sexual tension they were experiencing. “You know what’s funny? I can put on a cape and face down any enemy, but I still get tongue tied around you, even when you can’t remember me.”
“I think it’s rather endearing. I mean, who knew The Girl of Steel blushes? It makes you more attractive,” Lena insisted, and from the way her hand curled around Kara’s thigh to squeeze suggestively, she had definitely seen the tent in her pants.
Kara stood up so fast she nearly sent the coffee table into space, and if not for her super speed, it certainly would have launched through the window. “Speaking of attractive, there’s a sweatshirt you liked to borrow whenever I stayed over for a movie night, and you look so good in it, I should just give it to you.”
Lena pulled her lip between her teeth and traced a single fingertip along the neckline of her shirt that was thankfully only revealing her clavicles. “Oh, well that’s very kind of you, but I’d rather take something o—”
“Off I go!” Kara blurted to save herself the mental image of Lena naked and the humiliation of sporting an erection in front of her. “Stay right there! I’ll be like, ten seconds, tops.”
She beelined to the balcony without changing from her civilian clothes and hurtled over the ledge, free falling two stories before remembering how to fly.
Kara located the sweatshirt in her bureau and then zoomed across town to pick up fresh donuts and a large salted caramel gelato cone from the little Italian ice store Lena loved.
When she returned, windswept and red in the face, it was to find Lena still sitting on the couch and browsing the content of her phone.
“You really weren’t kidding about being gone for ten seconds,” Lena murmured guiltily, her thumb hovering over a picture of them both when they were clearly drunk, with Kara’s shirt partially raised due to the way she bent backwards in her seat.
Lena had zoomed in on her abs, and Kara tried not to think about what that meant.
“I come bearing gifts,” Kara laughed, awkward in how she approached with the armful of treats. She pushed the sweatshirt into Lena’s arms and deposited the box of donuts on the table, then froze with the cone in hand.
Lena had taken off her shirt and Kara forgot how to function.
“I hope you don’t mind. It just looks so cozy.” Lena’s smile was less than innocent and she took her sweet time slipping the sweatshirt on.
The faded National City University sweatshirt looked so much better on Lena for some reason and Kara dumbly sat down to offer Lena the ice cream.
“Thank you, Kara. It’s like you read my mind.” Lena lilted, and then proceeded to lick around the rim where some of the gelato had melted.
Kara choked on air as she watched the omega’s tongue swipe upwards, her lips puckering around the soft peak with a moan. Of all the things to betray her, Kara never imagined it would be desserts. “You know, I loaned you this sweatshirt once before around the time your heat was starting. Why don’t I go grab you a suppressant while you enjoy that?”
Lena narrowed her eyes like she had just become hip to what Kara was doing. “Why would I need a suppressant? I might not remember our entire relationship, but I can see why I’d be into you.” She licked from the bottom to the top of the ice cream and must have realized how Kara had stopped to watch her.
Kara remained frozen with her arms out, ready to speed off, but too focused on Lena’s mouth for her own good. “Oh, well that’s nice of you to say but you’re not um—not entirely you yet, so—”
“Mmmmm,” Lena hummed, her eyes half lidded and lustful while she licked creamy remnants from her mouth. She put the cone into the paper tub from the gelato place. The provocative way she paused afterwards with parted lips filled Kara’s head with inappropriate thoughts. “About that. The goal is for me to remember my life, and since none of the pictures or videos are helping me recall the past few years, perhaps we ought to take a more hands-on approach.”
“Hah-hands-on?” Kara hysterically croaked and leapt up from the couch to hinder Lena’s advances. She would have given almost anything to have Lena throw herself at her in the past, but now, with amnesia and while in heat? Rao was obviously testing her.
Kara stepped around the coffee table with a wary glance in Lena’s direction and chewed the inside of her cheek when the omega stood up with the intent to follow her.
“Hear me out. If you consider muscle memory and take into account the last meaningful thing we did together, there’s a real chance that repeating it might start the process of recovery for me,” Lena rationalized in a soft, unfair tone that beckoned Kara closer. “You can trust me, Kara, I’m a scientist.”
“That all sounds really, really great, but we can’t. It would be—um—unethical,” Kara squeaked out and backed herself into a chair. Without thinking, she used her powers to casually hover over it to escape.
She had never been so physically evasive with Lena before, and she was sure she was hurting them both if the pout Lena directed towards her was real.
“You think it’s unethical to sleep with me because in my mind we’ve only just met today?” Lena asked out of nowhere, her vulnerable scent one hundred percent effective in manipulating Kara. “Are you saying if I met you in a bar and invited you back to my place, you’d turn me down because I didn’t know you well enough?”
Kara was halfway through rehearsing an apology when it struck her that Lena had used straight up Luthor tactics on her to try and get her way. She stopped dead in her tracks when she realized Lena wasn’t chasing her and shook her head. “Oh, you’re sneaky.”
“It was worth a shot,” Lena sighed, tugging the sleeves of the sweatshirt over her hands so that only her fingertips poked out. “My omega is insistent that you’re the answer to everything I’m feeling right now, confusion notwithstanding. I suppose I’ll have the suppressor after all.”
Kara found it in the medicine cabinet and brought Lena water to wash it down. “Would it have worked? You know—sleeping together.” She felt ridiculous for asking and blamed it entirely on Lena’s pheromones.
“Well, there’s one way to find out,” Lena considered and put the pills aside to level Kara with a suggestive raised brow that all but demanded she be taken straight to bed. “I’m game if you are.”
Kara waffled over what to do, and then followed her hormones and her heart instead of coming up with a smarter solution. “What if we start with kissing?”
Keeping it innocent could still rekindle the memory of their first time. Kara sat on the couch and left a gap of two feet between them.
“There’s no harm in trying.” Lena smirked at the clear attempt to leave room between them and waited for Kara to initiate.
Kara clasped the back of her head, sliding her fingers through Lena’s dark hair and pulling her closer. Lena took that as an invitation to settle into her lap, and Kara moaned at the feeling of the omega’s body lithely positioned over her erection. They touched each other in light caresses across the arms, and Kara massaged an ear lobe as she guided Lena in for a kiss.
Lena was the one to push her tongue into Kara’s mouth and to scorch her by gently grinding in her lap.
“Lena, let’s just take this slow—very slow, okay?” Kara gasped out, in between an onslaught of Lena licking down her throat.
Lena sucked hard, marking the skin with lipstick that streaked all over her pretty mouth. “What if you just lick me and I return the favor?”
Kara made a strangled sound, part grunt and part groan and tried to keep Lena at arm’s length before her libido made more decisions for her. “We can’t. You deserve time to get to know me better, otherwise you’ll wake up tomorrow feeling like this is a one-night stand.”
Lena hesitated at the stern desperation in her voice and stared up into her eyes.
“This isn’t just a one time thing,” Kara elaborated with a tightness in her throat and a newfound sense of what was most important. “You’re my forever. There have been too many situations where I’ve almost lost you, and now it feels like you’re really gone — but you’re also here in my arms, and I don’t — I don’t know what to do.”
Lena sobered from Kara’s speech and nodded in the direction of the bedroom. “Why don’t you just hold me? We can take sex off the table for now.”
Kara understood there was potential for this to all go wrong, yet she found herself agreeing regardless. “Okay, but we keep our clothes on.”
All of this was meant to be a comfort to Lena, though they both implicitly knew it was for her. She followed Lena into the bedroom and curled around her above the sheets, fitting her chin in the crook of Lena’s neck to breathe the omega in.
“See, this isn't so bad, is it?” Lena asked after a beat, her soft voice lulling Kara into the belief that maybe if she just held on a little longer, the Lena she loved would return to her.
Kara tightened her arm around Lena’s waist and inadvertently ruined their planned cuddle session by pressing her erection into the omega’s backside.
They both froze from the unintended contact, and Kara held her breath while she cursed herself silently. The tension between them stretched on without incident, and just as Kara began to breathe again, Lena shifted.
It seemed innocent enough until it happened again, and by the third subtle rub, Kara had to bite her lip to quiet a groan.
“I think we should get out of the house,” Kara stressed, carefully untangling herself from Lena, who was suspiciously cupping her own breast. “Being confined never helped anyone. In fact, why don’t we drop by the Tower and see if Kelly’s around?”
Lena sighed dramatically, her pheromones rife with disappointment as she shot Kara a sulky look. She appeared to resign herself to the fact that they wouldn’t be fooling around. “I should have known you’d be noble. You’re Supergirl, after all.”
“Well, you certainly make it hard,” Kara chastised, posturing the way she normally would in her Super suit, with both hands on her hips.
Lena’s attention dropped meaningfully southward and she raised an eyebrow that immediately brought heat to Kara’s cheeks. “Yeah, I can see that.”
Kara activated her suit like it was extra armor and decided that a short flight across town would be preferable to spending another car ride next to Lena.
It wasn’t Lena’s fault that her heat was ravaging her senses and picking away at Kara’s self-control. They both knew that, but for the sake of Kara’s sanity, she needed to make sure they weren’t alone together.
“I suppose I should be flattered that you’re so concerned for my wellbeing.” Lena murmured through a coy smile, and traced the crest on Kara’s chest the moment she was close enough to touch her.
“Yup, that’s—that’s exactly why we’re leaving,” Kara muttered under her breath and scooped Lena into her arms.
She flew slower than normal, and if Lena cuddled into her a tighter, it wasn’t like Kara looped around the city just to prolong the contact.
They landed at the Tower a minute later, and it took Alex clearing her throat to make Lena finally release her hold on Kara. Lipstick was still rubbed across Kara’s neck and her sister pointedly stared at it until everyone’s judgmental eyes were on Kara.
“What’s going on?” Brainy asked with tight lipped concern. He wiped donut crumbs off of his shirt like a guilty child caught eating snacks and rolled his chair over with a protective energy about him.
Kara’s panic caused her to laugh and she swung her arms as she strode forward uncertainly, “Hey guys, we thought—”
“You thought,” Lena corrected with a clipped tone, and then smiled tentatively to Alex, who waved her over to a seat.
Kara’s jovial smile became strained and she exhaled a quick breath that blew documents off of the nearest table. “I thought it would be best for Kelly to have a chat with Lena to try and jog her memory. So far everything I’ve done hasn’t really helped.”
“And what is it that you’ve done, Kara?” Alex pressed, not the least bit amused by the lip prints on her throat.
“Not that—just, you know, I’ve shown her pictures and videos, and we talked,” Kara listed off, completely avoiding the fact that they had done a bit more than that.
“Normally I’d avoid therapy like the plague, but it can’t possibly be any more awkward than this. Is Kelly around?” Lena cut in with a self-deprecating smile, saving Kara from the mortification of getting interrogated for her crimes in front of everyone.
Kelly came out of the adjoining room and grinned over at Lena. “I was just setting up my equipment here. We expected that you would want to explore this option. Would you like to come in?
Kara wanted to be present to support Lena during the therapy process, and she would have hurried through the door if not for Alex grabbing her arm. She chewed her lip to stop herself from shouting ridiculous words of encouragement as Lena walked off.
“Lena is in good hands,” Alex promised with a small nudge to get Kara to quit staring at the last place Lena had been standing. “Brainy has donuts. Why don’t you go get your sugar fix? Kelly’s sessions usually last an hour.”
Brainy opened a new box of pink iced treats to draw Kara over. For twenty minutes, they took turns stuffing whole donuts into their mouths.
Kara perched on the edge of the desk and squinted at the wall whenever no one was observing. She would never use x-ray vision to peer into the next room despite how tempting it was to check on Lena, though somehow it felt less invasive to listen for the omega’s heartbeat.
By around the half hour mark, Kara assumed the session was a success and ate her donuts without constant vigilance.
Ten minutes later, the thundering noise of Lena’s pulse changed all of that, and Kara reacted to the omega’s high-pitched screams with force and speed. She blew the door off its hinges and hurtled into the room to find Lena cowering with one arm raised as if to block her.
Without waiting for Kelly to explain the situation, Kara crouched down with her hands up and scooted closer on her knees, “Lena? Lena’s it’s Kara, you’re safe, okay? I’m right here with you.” she whispered, unbothered by the critical way Kelly observed her or Alex’s quiet hissing that she had over reacted. “The session is over. You don’t have to continue.”
“It was so real,” Lena gasped, and flung her arms around Kara to bury her face into her shoulder. She trembled in fear and the vulnerable, distressed scent of her brought out Kara’s alpha.
“What happened, why is she so terrified?” Kara demanded, biting each word out like she was ready to pick a fight with anyone that so much as looked at Lena in the wrong way. The thudding beat of Lena’s heart echoed in her ears and Kara stroked her fingers through the omega’s hair to soothe her.
“We were attempting to find the last thing she remembered,” Kelly explained, her gentle and patient tone showing no sign of judgement for Kara’s outburst of anger. “It triggered the latent memory of Lex’s attack on the helicopter when she first arrived in National City.”
“Can the rest be recovered?” Kara didn’t stray from Lena’s side. She waited for the omega to finally release her hold and then helped her onto her feet.
Kelly’s hesitancy to answer tightened Kara’s jaw, and she braced herself for what was to come.
“Kara, there are no others. Lena’s mind from that point on is like a blank slate, the phantom wiped it clean.” Kelly’s quiet words still cut into Kara and she tried to offer comfort in the form of a sympathetic touch.
Kara pulled back from it with a strangled sounding grunt and tightened her arms around Lena possessively. “I want a second opinion,” she stated stubbornly, feeling crazed enough to fly them right out of there to go and find an expert.
Alex looked ready to tackle her at the first sign of flight, and Lena simply fisted her hands in Kara’s suit with a soft whine. Kara was so wrapped up in her emotions that she never noticed M’gann land in the Tower with J’onn right behind her.
“Are we under attack?” M’Gann asked, swinging her head around for any sign of damage or danger. “I could hear Kara’s psychic screams from across the city. We got here as fast as we could.”
“False alarm,” Alex murmured under her breath with a perplexed glance in her sister’s direction. “We’re just dealing with some bad news. Lena’s memories—”
“Are in me,” Kara blurted, startling even herself as she stared at M’Gann. Rao, why hadn’t she thought of it sooner? She was so focused on jogging Lena’s memories she never considered sharing her own. “That’s how J’onn saved you from turning into a phantom, right? Lena wrote something about that in the letters she sent, how he—”
“Kara, I understand that you’re mourning, we all are, but you’re not a Martian,” J’onn reminded her as kindly as he could, given the circumstances. He stepped around M’Gann to meet her eyes and the pity within them turned her stomach.
“I’m not human either!” The frustration within Kara burst out and she released Lena in order to pace frantically around the room while she ranted. “When the Harun-El split me, Red Daughter searched for two things and two things only, Alex and Lena. She was drawn to them because I love them so completely that they’re ingrained in my heart, in my soul, so if there’s a chance that this might work, we’re doing it.”
“Splitting a piece of your soul could have devastating consequences,” J’onn snarled in warning, the snap of his teeth a manifestation of his worry. “You could be powerless. Who you are as a person could be gone in an instant.”
“I’ve already lost everything,” Kara growled in turn, her hands fisting by her sides as her anger mounted. These were her friends, her family, and turning against them wasn’t the answer.
Alex approached her first, her hand outstretched to placate her the same way animal trainers tried to subdue the wildness of their pets. “Kara.”
“She would do it for me! Don’t any of you get that?” Kara yelled, shocking everyone with the unrestrained ferocity. “Without question, without hesitation, the Lena I know would do anything she could to get me back. She already has, and now it’s my turn to bring her home.”
In the silence that followed, the only other sound was Kara’s ragged breaths. Lena took her hand to snap her out of it and studied Kara’s face as she spoke. “I can’t let you risk yourself for me when the City, the whole world, depends on you.”
“I won’t be much use to National City unless my whole world returns.” Kara warbled, her brave facade crumbling under the tender touch of Lena’s palm against her cheek. “We’re doing this.”
No one debated with Kara after that or as she stalked away from Lena to figure out the process of soul-sharding with J’onn. He gave her brief but valuable instructions and a pat on the back that she barely registered. “M’gann and I will help channel your energies into Lena. We’ll be your conduit.”
Lena was waiting for her, supine on an examination table, calm and trusting with her arms resting at her sides. “For what it’s worth, it feels like our souls are connected already. I’ve never trusted anyone so instantly or completely. Maybe some part of who I am does recognize you - recognizes your soul.”
Kara thought back to the day they first met and about her immediate interest in Lena, not just as a Luthor. She remembered how they continued to seek each other out, the magnetic attraction that carried through the years, and reached out to hold onto Lena’s hand. “Shut your eyes, Lena, and find me. Feel my feelings, my love inside of you.”
Luminous blue lightning bolted through Kara’s entire being. She anticipated pain, to realize the exact moment that a shard of her soul was torn out and to be able to feel the gap forever afterwards. It should have been like looking at an incomplete puzzle with just one piece missing, except the opposite was true. The sensation was one of absolute completion, and as she stared into Lena’s opening eyes, Kara became aware of a new ocean of thoughts and feelings inside of her, whole new landscapes of sensation that filled out her picture and extended the edges of her own puzzle by far. Peace and gratitude slotted into place as the memories filtered back and Kara became tapped into Lena’s experiences. Kara went through them with her and fell into Lena’s arms as their bond was made solid.
Everyone flocked around them and Kara basked in the hugs of everyone that loved her most in the world. She hadn’t gotten the chance to enjoy their reunion in the midst of their crisis before, but this time was different.
Lena looked up at her with eyes full of such beautiful warmth and love, and Kara cried from happiness with a big smile on her face.
They were laughing through their tears, Lena’s thumbs brushing away the wet streaks on Kara’s cheeks until gravity took over and their lips came together. It was a chaste kiss filled with longing and their friends congratulated them with a modest amount of teasing.
“Seriously guys, with all the pining you two did, I’m amazed CatCo never published articles about it.” Alex grinned and made the wise choice to step away before Kara threatened to laser her for even mentioning it.
“Whu-you all knew that I was in love with Lena?” Kara turned around to face her found family, taking in their mirth and eye rolls just to sputter, “Nobody thought to tell me?”
“In hindsight we weren’t very subtle, darling,” Lena confided with a smirk and held onto Kara’s arm to swing her feet off the table. “One of the first times I met Kelly she asked how I was doing after our break-up. She was rather surprised to find out we’d never dated.”
That simple recollection proved to them that Lena’s memories were fully recovering and she winked when Kara gaped at her.
“Rao, what else wasn’t I aware of?” Kara asked before she thought better of it, and immediately regretted opening the floodgates when Alex deadpanned, “Probably the goofy look you always get on your face whenever you speak about Lena.”
Kara didn’t mind the ribbing this time and endured it with a grin.
They celebrated by ordering take-out and sipping beer while reminiscing about all their years together as friends. Everyone had memories they wanted to share, little pieces of themselves that they might have held back, and Lena, now fully integrated into the group, regaled them all with her own.
It was better than Kara imagined, because Lena wasn’t just there as a friend. She was there as the love of her life, and to have everyone’s support and acceptance only emphasized that their bond was special. She linked her fingers through Lena’s and memorized every laughter line that formed on her face whenever she found something funny.
Their love kept them tethered, and Kara felt it flow through her. If Kara was honest that wasn’t all she was feeling. The changes in Lena’s pheromones made that very clear to everyone else.
Their amorous scent was heightened due to Lena’s heat, which brought a pretty glow to her cheeks. Her lips looked swollen and luscious and ready for Kara’s kisses, so much so that she practically pinned Lena to her chair by leaning into her personal space.
They were transfixed on one another, sharing breath in a way that was borderline obscene without actually touching. Kara followed the path of Lena’s fingers as they tucked dark hair behind her ear and Lena’s hooded eyes dropped to Kara’s mouth as she bit her lip.
“God, would you two just get out of here already? Nobody expected you to stay all night,” Alex grunted with a wave of her beer to signal that they should leave now, preferably through the window so that nobody else would have to suffer by witnessing their flirtatious PDA.
Laughter swept them up and Kara cradled Lena to her chest with a half-assed wave of goodbye before she took off through the sky.
The chilled air whipped Lena’s hair around her face and even that wasn’t enough to cool her heat down. The delectable scent of arousal clung to Lena and Kara didn’t think twice about kissing her mid-flight. She only stopped when she landed on the wrong balcony with a very startled middle-aged couple gawking at them in surprise.
Kara muttered an apology and took off again, her mortified scent unable to cloak Lena’s need. Hopefully, they didn’t recognize the Luthor in her arms, or they would be making headlines by tomorrow morning.
Five seconds later they were safely on the correct balcony, and Kara groaned from the loss of contact when Lena pulled back.
“You really did your best to resist my charms this morning,” Lena lilted and tugged at the hem of the cozy sweater. She slipped it up and off without preamble and narrowed her eyes with a smirk, “I hope you’re not going to make a habit of that.”
Kara jabbed the button to remove her suit and haphazardly whipped her glasses from her face. “I swear I won’t ever turn you down again.”
Regaining her cool was a feat with Lena standing around half naked. Kara hurried to get her hands on the omega, not at all expecting it when Lena stopped her with a hand and wandered off to get into the shower.
Kara followed, too dismayed to complain outright.
“You go and wait in the bedroom,” Lena directed with playful bossiness and a gesture down at the remaining clothes she still wore. “I need to wash the Phantom zone off my skin.”
“After all of the flying, I could use a shower myself,” Kara stated with a quirk of her lips, and used the slightest amount of superhuman speed to get naked so she could help Lena out of her clothes.
They stepped into the shower together and Lena turned on the spray while Kara lathered up a sponge and nuzzled into her shoulder. There was romance to the way they cleansed themself of the dirt and distraught pheromones that lingered on their skin. Their gentle hands caressed over cheekbones and breasts and Kara kissed water droplets as they appeared on Lena’s skin.
“This is what I’m looking forward to the most, these little moments where we’re doing normal couple things,” Kara admitted and slipped her hands around Lena’s hips to encourage her out of the shower. She led them into the bedroom without toweling off and ghosted her lips across Lena’s throat where she longed to bite down. “I never want to be apart.”
Lena shuddered in her arms and bared her throat, and Kara nipped and sucked at the sensitive pale skin until it blushed beneath her tongue. She cupped Lena’s backside with both hands until no space remained between them, and groaned at the warm sensation of Lena’s palm wrapping around her erection.
“You’re never going to lose me again, Kara. We’re meant to be together.” Lena whispered against Kara’s shoulder, and the slow tug of her hand pulled a moan from Kara’s throat.
They always needed one another, but the carnal heat inside Lena was begging to be soothed and Kara wouldn’t delay. She moved them onto the bed and spread Lena out across the sheets, her fingers dipping into the concealed heat between the omega’s thighs. Hot slick dripped over her palm and Lena whined at the first brush against her clit.
Kara used the lubricant to cover her cock, and with careful hands opened Lena’s legs into a wider stance to slot herself between them. She rolled her hips, gliding the rigid length of herself through Lena’s glistening folds and kissed away the moans as they formed on her lips.
They moved with synchronous undulations, Lena’s hips raising up to stimulate her clit along the stiff girth of Kara’s cock until the tease of it became unbearable, and she whimpered, “Please, Kara, I’m ready for you to have me.”
“Are you sure? Is this really what you want?” Kara asked, her hips angled so that the broad tip of her cock pressed into the wet resistance of Lena’s entrance. The question had nothing to do with sex and everything to do with the consequences that might follow with Lena in heat.
Kara’s pheromones told Lena that she was all in, that she was ready to have a full life with her.
Lena basked in the adoration emanating from Kara and held her face between both palms to affirm breathlessly, “With all my heart, yes.”
Happiness blurred Kara’s vision and she rocked forward to push the first few inches of her cock into Lena’s tight channel. It took effort not to slam the rest inside, to go slow and give Lena the time she needed to get accustomed to her girth.
Kara’s whole body tensed from the delicious pressure of being sheathed in Lena’s cunt, the scorch of her walls so pleasurable that Kara regretted she never made a move to date Lena sooner.
She nibbled along Lena’s sharp jawline, her tongue following the slope up to her ear just to suck the sensitive lobe between her teeth.
The soft cadence of Lena’s whines went up in pitch with every slow, drilling thrust Kara gave and she locked her legs around Kara’s pelvis to make sure she stayed deep.
“Rao,” Kara gasped, reveling in the hot, sweaty glide of their bodies moving as one. “I love how deep you can take me.”
Kara perceived the internal massage as worship, and her quads tightened in response to the building bliss of their momentum. She pumped her hips harder, shaking the bed with her growing force, and latched around Lena’s throat with a growl of pure desperation.
Lena lifted her back from the bed in an arch of sublime pleasure, convulsing from Kara’s teeth almost breaking the skin. Kara indulged in the sensation of Lena’s inner muscles fluttering around her and listened to the omega’s beautiful, soft moans.
“My body is begging for you, Kara.” Lena’s spasms continued in drawn out delight, her pussy hotter and silky wet from orgasm.
The throb of Kara’s cock signaled that she couldn’t hold back, and her teeth sank into Lena’s throat with the intent to leave her claim.
Lena’s euphoric cries turned to erotic moans and she fastened her hand in Kara’s hair to draw her closer, encouraging the bite with faster pulsations of her cunt.
Kara shuddered from her release and the scrape of Lena’s nails which clawed at her impenetrable skin. Every one of her senses was filled with Lena and she gasped into her neck, overwhelmed with the love they shared. She could feel it, all of it, running through her veins like it powered the beat of her heart and Kara wondered how she survived all these years without Lena being a part of her.
“I want you on your side so I can hold you,” Kara rumbled, freeing herself from Lena’s enveloping warmth to position the omega. She held Lena’s thigh in one hand, up and out of the way to hold her open, and Lena guided the wide brim of her cock into the wet clutch of her cunt where it belonged.
Kara joined them together with a rough thrust, plunging through Lena’s narrow passage with a pleasurable groan and jostling the bed.
“I know you’ve had urges over the years. Act on them,” Lena husked close to Kara’s lips and scratched into her scalp with the tips of her fingers.
Kara draped the omega’s arm around her shoulder and reached around to handle Lena’s breasts. They felt so full and soft against her palms, both nipples poking out from the gentlest touch.
“These need my attention, don’t they?” Kara asked cockily and gave a rough grip to each of them as she rutted deeper into Lena’s cunt. “Does it feel good to have a full pussy while I play with your tits?”
Lena moaned and strained to get her leg up higher with a heavy nod. “Yes.”
The smack of Kara’s thighs increased in tempo, and Lena moaned at the attention Kara gave her breasts. She draped Lena across her chest and bent her head to lavish at her swollen nipples, puckering her lips around each bud to suck them into the moist warmth of her mouth. They were sensitive because of Lena’s heat and Kara palmed them firmly, trapping the nipples between the web of her fingers to pluck once they popped free of her mouth.
“Oh fuck, it feels so good when you’re rough with them,” Lena whined, writhing into Kara with her backside to ride the full length of her cock. The sweat slick of their bodies aided their movements and Kara pinched at the tender pebbled flesh while she tongued at Lena’s claim.
She was overloading Lena’s senses, pushing her into a pleasure so strong that her eyes glassed over and she gasped like she couldn’t catch her breath. Kara was mesmerized by the rise and fall of her chest, the way her beautiful breasts heaved and bounced from the vigorous pounding she took.
“You’re going to come so hard, aren’t you, Lena?” Kara’s lips tickled against Lena’s ear, and she traced her fingers over Lena’s ribs, then southward to the glistening crease between her legs.
Kara moaned her approval when she stroked through Lena’s pussy lips to delve into the concealed nectar that bathed her clit. She teased around the slippery hood, pushing it back to unveil the aching pearl and stimulated it directly.
Lena quaked from the caress, her legs jerking and pelvis rocking in a way she couldn’t control. Kara was captivated by the way Lena danced from the barest rub of her fingers, a guttural groan tearing out of her when Lena’s pale thighs clamped around her wrist with a strangled moan. The insistent grasp of her cunt rippled around Kara’s cock and coaxed torrents of seed out of her.
Lightheaded with bliss, Kara could only roll her hips in the barest increments while her knot developed, encased completely by Lena’s cunt. Soon neither of them would be able to move due to its size, and Kara peppered Lena’s cheeks and shoulder with reverent kisses of gratitude for taking it all so effortlessly.
Lena whined as it grew within her, forcing her spasming walls into a stretch she would feel for days. Kara nuzzled into her claim, soothing her with gentle licks while she rubbed into her pussy to offset the pressure with pleasure.
“Keep your legs open, baby, let it take hold first.” Kara encouraged softly, knowing this would be the first of many knots that Lena would desire that night.
Lena spread her thighs to let the knot settle and then tucked herself into Kara, tired out from the events of the past week.
Kara stayed awake while Lena napped, safe and warm and protected in her arms. She marveled at how lucky she was to have something she always wanted, something so precious she couldn’t believe she ever found it again. Home, in the delicate form of Lena Luthor.

Such a good ending for this story! Thanks for sharing ;)
2022-05-02 16:37:42 +0000 UTCThank you!! 😁Angst & humor swirled together in this one in ways I didn't expect.
2021-08-22 15:50:45 +0000 UTCThat was so good just enough angst and humour and our ladies together in the end thank you
2021-08-22 09:04:27 +0000 UTCI promise to always fix what I break! Though I don't think I've ever written anything truly angsty on here. 😺
2021-05-19 00:01:25 +0000 UTCThank you! I haven't seen the ep yet, but I heard bad things about it and I'm so thrilled my fic could help even in a small way. I heard that they cut out a hug scene, but that it was meant to only include J'onn/Alex/Kara. 😓I swear they'd better not skip right ahead and ignore Kara's reunion with everyone just to show us whatever's going on at CatCo with Kara's Dad. For some reason I've been really wanting to write soulmate Supercorp fics lately - dunno why, but there will probably be more of them to come!
2021-05-18 23:55:37 +0000 UTC🤓 I'm happy you liked the spin from angst to comedy! This story probably could have very easily gone down The Notebook route, but I never could sit through that whole movie. 😂I had some trouble starting this second part, to be honest. I have like 3 different starts to it and ultimately went with comedy because the show is so random lately. Haven't watched the recent episodes but based on the gifs and complaints I've read, it's not looking good for SC. I really just want the show to acknowledge what an epic story they've created for Kara and Lena and take the risk on it. Thank you!!! 😁Looking forward to writing another canon divergent fic towards the end of the summer or sooner if an idea occurs to me. I hope you're safe, well and that life is treating you good! ❤️💙
2021-05-18 23:45:35 +0000 UTCI considered going there with some ongoing angst-action, but ultimately comedy won out because I just knew the season 6A finale was going to suck! 😬
2021-05-18 23:34:26 +0000 UTCI was originally thinking of making this story full of angst, because I can imagine a longer and probably slow burn fic with moments where Kara is trying to help Lena restore her memories and all of that good stuff. But I also want to wrap up the rest of my ongoing canon divergent fics before 6B comes out and then I'll write a longer canon divergent fic for the current season with another concept that occurs to me. 😺Thank you!!!
2021-05-18 23:33:25 +0000 UTCGirl, I’m so glad you fixed this. I was about to start forwarding you my therapy bills.
2021-05-18 12:28:41 +0000 UTCHoly fuck. That was worth the angsty cliffhanger in the first chapter of this incredible story. I really love how Lena with amnesia was basically letting Kara know that she was flirting with her for the past five years. Kara being an adorable oblivious fool never took the hints. 😂 The way they both were drawn to each no matter the circumstances was some soul mate material. The Superfriends making fun of both Lena and Kara for both being so oblivious. The love making they shared was so hot and passionate. You never disappoint with the amazing way you portray their undying love for each other. This chapter was phenomenal and amazing. Thank you so much for sharing this. Hope you are staying safe and are well. 🤩❤️💙🤩👍🏻👍🏻
2021-05-13 23:15:04 +0000 UTCi was honestly expect the angst to last long but nice to see a happy ending! i definitely need to see more thirsty lena and flustered kara like please 🤌🏼🤌🏼🤌🏼

2021-05-13 21:48:06 +0000 UTCI loved that you turned an angsty thing that made me laugh so much. Kara tripping over backwards to try and be noble was just too good. And the romanticism of Lena’s memories being found IN Kara 🥺🥺🥺. Great stuff as always just fantastic
