Disobedience and Devotion - Chapter 4

Yes, Lena definitely has words at her disposal, and you've nailed Kara's perspectives and motivations. She wants to protect the people in her house and she feels she can do that best if she holds a position of power in town. That's true. But it's hard because it's not just a regime, but their entire society -- in their town and beyond it. Kara wants to bring about change through the people, and Lena wants to take a more direct and revolutionary approach, and they truly have the same aims underneath it all.

I don’t think Lena is out of control, on the contrary, she acts according to her principles and defend herself as well as attack with the only weapon she has : her words. Kara was an easy target for her frustration and feelings of powerlessness, but at the same time her biting words weren’t completely unwarranted. While Kara indeed acts with the well-being of her house in mind, it is fear of her secret being discovered that stays her hand from truly rising against oppression. And isn’t that how totalitarian regimes work ? Striking fear of retribution in the heart of their people ? To rid yourself of your chains you have to brave your slavers first…

I really liking the fire between the two. Its hard to explain but its so well written. Like, there's a push and pull netweeb the too but theres also love underneath it all. Thanks for the fluff at the end. Kara is just having a hard time with lena, who too strong of a character to not doing anything in the face of injustice.

Lena's reaction to the omega wasn't a slight against Kara (though I guess she could have told Kara before taking care of the issue herself). She just had a knee jerk reaction and dove in. That said, she's into being a 'brat' in this story, haha. To answer your question - Nia ran off to get Kara.

I am unsure if Lena is into being brat or it is just in her natural reflex to pissed Kara off lol. I am pretty sure Kara is confused if Lena likes her or hate her. I think Lena don't know which one she is deciding on too lol. Lena is trying to do good for the omega but she really should think of the consequences not just diving into it head first and think everything will be fine. Just too dangerous. Kara is trying to cover her ass but a bit harsh. Maybe it is necessary cause there's quite a crowd there. I still wonder how do Kara know Lena is getting in trouble lol.

It is intentionally dystopian, I think? I pondered whether or not to bring in Lockwood as an antagonist in this particular way, but I figured Lena would only seem even more extra if she wasn't fighting against something we can all agree is horrendous. Like would her behaviors seem reckless/really stupid AF if it wasn't such a terrible thing she was protecting an omega from? Probably. Lena's like... an extreme omega rights activist in this story, haha. She's not backing down to anyone, no matter how others try to reason with her. It might be a mixture of both leaning into the brat role and also having some kinks she hasn't figured out yet. Lol. Your comment isn't a ramble at all and thank you. Whenever they're rough, they have to cycle around to some softness with each other.

oh man, i liked this chapter a lot. Full disclosure: normally i prefer my supercorp fanfic to be purely escapist fantasy. I mean i’m not sure if this is your intention, but for me Disobedience and Devotion certainly deals with with themes of misogyny, discrimination, slavery, sexism, etc. I mean obviously we’re all here to read A/B/O smut, but this particular story stands apart from the other ones because it examines and criticizes the hierarchy of an ABO society and its inherent violence. Like, being an omega basically represents being a second-class citizen (a female, a person of color, gay, etc) in a patriarchal world …right?? Lockwood beating his omega wife totally made me cringe, cus it basically represents the real world. ANYWAY, that’s the first reason why I think this series is interesting, second is that it straddles so many genres. Like it feels like a cross between The Handmaid’s Tale and a bodice ripper! Contradictory, but somehow it works. Lena is just so out of control in this chapter, like wtf. Like everyone is trying to tell her that the townsfolk are gonna come after all of them if she doesn’t reel it back a little bit, and her reaction is just to go even more wild 🤣 And oh man, when she was just mouthing off so that Kara would fuck her harder?? I died. Like homegirl is either really leaning into the brat role or she just kinky af. i have to tell you tho…I LOVED the ending. I really really loved it and reread it several time. I just loved that shift, you know? When Lena is like oh fuck maybe I was being extra, and she tries to be nice. This line right here, killed me dead: “As your wife I will not be denied what is rightfully mine.” Like sis knows she is in trouble but still wants to be a brat. Anyway. I’m going to end this long ass ramble now. TLDR: this fic reads like dystopian fiction; i loved the ending
