I'd make it a week unless it was an absolute banger column, then I might give it a day or two.

Hmm. I'm all for spreading the word however why pay if I can read it for free? Perhaps make the first 2-3 free per month then people need to subscribe to read more? I'd continue my subscription with that kind of model. NY Times & Guardian have a similar model.
