Hey people, here it is, the finished FCFS-contest-prize for Svap, who wanted a scene of Ben in a cozy treehouse, sneakily and cheekily watching his Shepdad calling him home for dinner, or bedtime, or a change, or something else he's not super ready for yet. Maybe he's hiding so he can keep playing, or at least finish his puzzle? Or perhaps he's getting ready to spook Shepdad at just the right moment? Who knows!
He'd probably be less suspicious if he had remembered to turn off the lights, but oh well x3
I absolutely LOVED working out the atmosphere here, and I went back and forth between various styles until I settled on this in the end.
I didn't want it to be too dark outside, but also not so bright that the lights lose their presence, so I ultimately went for a fresh late-afternoon-ish ambient which I think works fairly well ^^
I initially wanted to use chains of lightbulbs, but then thought that those would probably be considered a bit too dangerous for a toddler, so I instead went for these fun light-hoses that I used to have in my room as a kid!
The perspective was a bit tricky since the house, and specifically the glass sliding door, was supposed to be visible, and I didn't want to skew it all too much. My workaround was to create a very large window in the treehouse, which helped a lot. Overall, fairly satisfied I'd say :D
Was also fun to depict Ben in a scenario where he's gotten used to his new life situation and seems rather content with it, probably because all the fussing and moping got boring fast, and didn't really improve things anyway xP
Next up will be one of my own ideas, which I MIGHT be able to finish before the end of the month, or at least very soon after, so stay tuned!
In any case, as always, thanks a ton for the support guys! <3
