Developer Update April 3rd, 2022

Happy to report that I am entering QA mode & doing "the little things" for the site upgrade. It's been a long road, so I figured I would type up a post that can go over just how much effort has gone into things this far. This is also to remind me of all that has been done.

The next few weeks will be some serious quality checking to make sure everything is good.

Updates So Far Probably

• Framework upgrades
• Rewrite of all pages
• Rewrite of critical endpoints to optimize database layer & bandwidth usage
• Cache for JSON+LD
• Typescript for everything
• Support for users to resubmit waifus that were denied & update pending waifus
• Support for users to declare which series a waifu should be added to
• Users can upload photos to their profile
• Better upload & resize support for banners
• Less aggressive compression for banners
• Better Modals
• Better Search
• Rebuild war management for mods
• Dumped the entire LESS\SASS pipeline for CSS. I hated it and it was too slow. Now it's just PostCSS. Fuck webpack too. Vite soon.

Remaining Items

• Mobile view quality checks & navigation check
• SSR Support Check
• Ensure that large series like Kantai don't break SSR \ Lag Devices... lazily load some components further down the page maybe.
• Create season widget that won't upset core web vitals
• Finish up tests
• move bio update & image update into profile page and leave settings to password \ pii download
• Ensure production builds contain all necessary items
• Ensure all the auth related views are working as expected (password reset, etc)
• Server Upgrade & Launch
• Less aggressive cloudflare antibot settings as the endpints that were being used before will no longer exist.

After That

After this update launches, I'll be working on AnimeNews.moe which will be replacing the news site. It will most likely be a serious counterpart to the news published right now.
