What do you think?
Added 2018-06-17 18:43:09 +0000 UTCAs my patrons, I'd like your feedback on my most recent video: https://youtu.be/8P7aDvypceE
First some background info: I am still wrapping up my most recent painting video - I need to finish the last 10% or so of the footage editing, then do the VO and music. I might finish this today, but with it being Fathers Day I plan to actually play a board game with the family (and BBQ).

This means I would have had no video this weekend, which is bad for the channel. Instead I decided to do a quick "filler" video like the one posted above. I have a few of these ideas already cooked up that I hope to film all in one day, then edit as I can. You can see an example of some more below.
What I'd like to hear from you guys is what you think about this being on the channel. Would you have rather of had no video this weekend or is this sort of content fine? I'd love to hear your thoughts further in the comments as well! No hard feelings :)
Examples:
How to clean your paint brushes.
Do you quit? (talking about stopping painting miniatures before finishing)
Realistic storage options in board game box.
Would you play an AR board game?

Oh interesting, let me know how it goes! I find you can always learn something - heck I still watch 101 painting videos on YT to this day and sometimes I recall "oh yeah, that's something I always skip" or some such :D

2018-06-21 05:03:13 +0000 UTCI'm going to a local mini painting class tomorrow night. I really hope I'm able to learn something new. I dont know who the instructor is but if he/she is the same person who paints the minis in the store's display case I think I might be better then them! But I'm going in optimistic and will be a good student. Regardless I'm thinking of volunteering to teach a begginer class 1-2x per month. Real basic things like washing the minis first, cleaning the mold lines and flash, priming choices. Real basic stuff.

2018-06-21 02:40:08 +0000 UTCHaving little short tutorials is a no brainer for most of us. Even if we already know it, it's always good to see how someone else does things (even brush cleaning). So many of us learn on our own or from someone else who really doesn't know what they're doing, and it's always amazing to see a better and more efficient way of doing some task.
2018-06-20 20:59:16 +0000 UTCThanks a lot Manuel :) It's actually a constant frustration for me. All I want to be able to do is paint but I don't always have the time from my life to do so - and I've really tried to step up my production value which means editing takes much longer. The balance between quantity and quality is rather difficult to figure out and something I worry about constantly (who know running a YT channel could be so stressful!) Currently, I think I'm still doing well - I'm certainly no where near Sorastro with thousands coming in every month and not even a miniature each month. My overall goal is to just do it as much as I can and be honest to everyone about it so it's as big of a part of the channel as I can handle. These side videos are super easy which is nice and I can bulk do them. I hope to take a day (after posting the Bonsai Daimyo) to film a couple in a row and just have them ready. Really glad to hear you thought the video was done well! I still hope to improve over time in the new format but good to know it's not garbage :) As always, you have a personal line here on Patreon to provide feedback at any time.

2018-06-18 20:16:27 +0000 UTCI agree with Patrick. You do have a knack for explanation and being straightforward. As long as you don't stray too far and keep it relevant, I think content is better than no content. What would definitely hit the channel is if the painting videos become scarce, replaced more and more often by other types of vids.
2018-06-18 20:01:29 +0000 UTCThanks for the feedback and kind words Patrick :) I've seen other channels attempt to branch out and be hit hard by their own viewers so it's great to see the support you all have for me! Always a nervous thing to do on the content creator portion of it!
