August MOTM: Neon aesthetic (painting) // sfw

shout-out to nak for suggesting a modern era monster of the month!
this piece was simultaneously right up my alley and far outside my comfort zone. my motm paintings are usually nsfw, but this theme tempted me into doing an aesthetics-focused sfw piece instead. the style, the colour palette, and parts of the design are all more or less different from what i usually do -- but i'm so happy with the neon hieroglyphs. those are all real words and sentences, plucked from my course literature about middle egyptian (more on that in the upcoming process post). i included a shot of just the background so you can see all the bits that are covered by the character in the finished image.
as an artist it's always a bit scary to create something different than what people might expect of you, but i so hope you all like this piece! <3
