fun fact 1: remember how my whole ‘one piece of art every week‘ challenge is about being less perfectionist? about not getting stuck refining a piece ad nauseum, about not tweaking it and adding details for hours and hours after it’s already finished? this painting really put me to the test. it was so hard to ‘let go of,’ because i kept seeing things i could change and improve, things that kind of irk me but that nobody will ever notice but me. normally i would have kept obsessing about it for a few more hours, perhaps days, but this time i’m deciding to really live by the challenge i posed to myself and just post it. it’s not perfect, but it’s plenty good enough.
fun fact 2: i painted this at a cafe. i’m usually really good at being discrete when i draw smut in public—sitting at a table where nobody can see my screen, zooming in so you can’t see what i’m drawing whenever someone passes close by, etc. but right as i was done with this painting a service staff member came by to get my dishes. they grabbed the cup and plate, then paused for a second as if doing a double-take, then hurried on. i suddenly realised i was all zoomed out, the whole painting fully visible on the screen, blatantly in their view. i hope the sudden monster porn didn’t traumatise them. but hey, maybe they’re into it...?
