I'm against the death penalty, but why don't they just pump them full of fentanyl or another type of opiate? Seems pretty straight forward to me. That shit kills innocent people every fucking day. They can even get it for free after a drug bust. Why use these death chemicals that aren't necessarily reliable?

In London it ended up botching the attempted escape of Jack Sheppard who planned to fake his death and escape after being revived but the crowd rushed his corpse thinking his friends were doctors taking his body for a cadevar which was common and they were too late to revive him. Dickens in his early writing often talks about being horrified at witnessing an execution for the first time
