Hi Nicolas, do you think that the range of the membrane clarinet could be extended with a register hole near the mouthpiece, like the register key on a clarinet which raises the note by a twelfth (2nd harmonic)? A diatonic scale is probably too much to hope for with only so many finger holes, but maybe a pentatonic scale would be usable?

Hi Nicolas, just came across your work and I am so impressed! Wanted to ask a quick question about your membrane clarinet blueprint. Are the numbers directly below the notes the finger hole diameters in millimeters (7, 8, 8.5, etc.)? And are the bigger values the distance from the end of the instrument in millimeters (263, 224, etc.)? And the overall length is 475mm? Thanks in advance!
