Sketch Commission - "An Arbiter"
Added 2023-07-16 18:52:32 +0000 UTCA commission for a private client based on the appearance the character Binah from Lobotomy Corporation takes on when she undergoes her "meltdown" boss phase. I actually did two versions of this - the first one, the fullbody, while I like it more now, struck me as very static and I didn't feel like I had successfully "pushed" the design as much as I intended. In an unprecedented move, I started over again completely - the final result was much more satisfying to me, and that's the primary one seen here with the forward facing composition.
The Arbiter's body features several inset walls of golden text ingame, which uses an indistinct and fabricated pseudo-font designed to evoke a mixture of "ancient" scripture styles. I opted to use the text of the Rosetta Stone instead, being a mixture of Hieroglyphics, Demotic and ancient Greek, which felt like an appropriate visual and thematic match, since the text ingame is supposed to reflect a kind of well of hidden or encrypted knowledge.
