The Battle of the Trident

Breaking down the importance, details, participants and impact of the decisive battle during Robert's Rebellion. From Jon Connington to Dany to Barristan to almost every Stark and most of the Lannister POV's, not to mention non-POV's who were there like Wyman Manderly, Roose Bolton and Elder Brother, we have a lot of accounts of what happened that day... but also quite a few mysteries, and several instances of dreams and prophecies which refer to it.

Great episode! Re Rheagar’s battle strategy: We know that the Freys were “late” to the fight. It may be that other Riverland vassals were also slower in calling the banners and getting troops together. Rhaegar had the numbers, but if he was aware that more men were going to be joining the rebel forces in the coming days/weeks, that wouldn’t necessarily last. Given that, he may have decided to roll the dice while he had a numerical advantage, even if the attack was on a solid defensive position.
