I thought it was a very and fun chaotic reintroduction to Donna and the Noble family along with newcomers such as Rose. I love how they jumped straight into the reunion of The Doctor and Donna. The house scenes with Sylvia trying to protect Donna from seeing the Meep and The Doctor was fun too. I like Sylvia's growth over the years with the way she's more caring of Donna now as opposed to how she was with many years ago. I like how we had equally light-hearted and seriousness moments with The Doctor's interaction with Shaun in the taxi and also the Doctor confiding to the UNIT advisory about his concern of his old face coming back and his worry for Donna's life. The Doctor using his Sonic to create barriers and a visual user interface was really cool. The court scene was funny and a nice callback to a certain moment. The Doctor being trapped with Donna in a closed room and being forced to trigger her memory so that they could save the day was a nice callback to End of Time where him and Wilf were in a similar situation. Then only issues I have with this special is that you can tell the pacing was too fast at times and could have benefited with more breathing space. It definitely feels like it could have gone on for longer than it did. I feel like the resolution was also too rushed and Rose needed more screentime so the moment would feel more fulfilling. They set up the foundations of her feeling lonely with her interactions with the Meep but it kinda stopped midway due the rest of the chaos that followed. I do like the idea of the metacrisis being passed down to her which allows Donna to survive but it just needed a smoother and better resolution. The ending with Donna spilling the coffee in the new Tardis was funny though. Fun fact for you. The Meep and elements of this story actually originate from a Doctor Who comic strip that came out in the 1980s which features The Fourth Doctor and K9. RTD gave the writers additional credit for this which was nice. I forgot that I haven't commented on your previous Classic Who reactions even though I watched them months ago. I might make amends with that soon. Glad you're back to enjoy the 60th anniversary with us! :D
