August & Beyond: A Long Hiatus for Ongoing Reactions
Added 2023-07-24 02:42:03 +0000 UTCHey there, everyone! I made a somewhat rambling, non-short video announcement which you are welcome to watch, but for those who may want to skip those 10+ minutes (*g*) I can break it down for all of you this way:
- Next month, I am starting graduate school. (YAY!!!)
- School will be in addition to the full-time job, so this will have a huge impact on recording new reactions for the foreseeable future. (BOO!!)
- I am hoping to react to modern Doctor Who’s November anniversary episodes (which may be posted in December, I’m not sure right now.) But I will try to react to the anniversary specials as well as any possible holiday specials since they will air around/during my Thanksgiving and Christmas breaks.
- Series 14 reactions to Doctor Who are uncertain at this point. We’ll have to see how things develop.
- This may go without saying, but I will not be starting any new reactions series in the near future.
- The Patreon will remain open for anyone to pledge for the library of reactions that have been built up so far. If you are new to the Patreon and still catching up, you can continue to do so for as long as you like.
As for Classic Doctor Who, I will finish recording the planned reactions for July, and then I will need to go into hiatus mode with the show. I have so many more episodes to react to, but I really need to focus on this graduate program and keep up with work as well, so I can’t promise a certain amount of reactions per month. I will do more brainstorming over the next couple of weeks to see if there’s a way to squeeze in the occasional reaction now and again, but right now it’s like DW Series 14 reactions - I just don’t know.
The degree program takes almost two years of back-to-back terms (no summer vacation) and I know that will be a really long time with either no new reactions or very occasional reactions. I’ll post more information and time-management ideas as they come to me, but I did want to take this opportunity to let all of you know that I feel incredibly lucky to have had such awesome support over the past 4+ years! It’s been an absolutely amazing experience and I hope you have had as much fun as I have :-)
Please enjoy these last handful of July reactions, keep enjoying the Patreon “library” of reactions, and remember to check back for more information as things develop. If you have any questions for me, please feel free to comment below!
A million thanks,
FWR Monica

2023-09-06 06:45:13 +0000 UTCCongratulations Monica! 🎉 This is so bittersweet for me - selfishly I'm hoping and praying that you find time to react to the new era of Doctor Who. I am/was reaaaalllly looking forward to experiencing that with you. With this news I feel like I've lost a "watch buddy," as corny as that probably sounds. But it's just that you and a few other reactors have enriched my life more than I could ever put into words. Enjoy everything you have going on in your life and hopefully we'll see you soon (in whatever capacity that may be...) Just like Amelia Pond, I'll wait, and I'll always be here to support you if and when you decide to return. 😊

2023-07-31 02:11:52 +0000 UTCNo, thank you! I've enjoyed watching your reactions to all these episodes of Doctor Who over the years immensely and I hope I get to do so again many more times in the future yet. Good luck with your studies!

2023-07-30 12:11:20 +0000 UTCLol - Doctor Who reactions definitely bring personal fulfillment and happiness! I will miss them, and hope to get back to them at some point. Thanks for everything, Ian, and I'll see you around here from time to time. :-)

2023-07-28 07:08:00 +0000 UTCThank you Azmat! It's always a pleasure to read your commentary, and I look forward to reading more of them in the future! I really appreciate having gone through many seasons (and series!) of Doctor Who with you.

2023-07-28 07:07:24 +0000 UTCYes, please keep me in the loop! I have the fourthwallreactions@gmail.com email address, though I'm not great at checking it ;-) If you switch from a pledge to a follow, I think you can still send a private message via Patreon, too. There's always other social media as well - good ole YouTube, a sadly-underused Instagram, and Twitter which I'm not sure if I'm keeping. So there are still a few ways to stay in touch. :-)

2023-07-28 07:05:31 +0000 UTCYeah, ok; your specialist qualification will lead to greater financial opportunities, and enhanced personal fulfilment and happiness; ....but so will watching Doctor Who! I confess, I have a substantial backlog of reactions from you that I have still to watch; so I shall be sticking around in order to enjoy the archive.

2023-07-24 13:11:50 +0000 UTCIt'll be a shame to lose your reactions to classic Who, but I truly wish you all the best for studies. I hope it'll be a mind and soul expanding phase of your life! Come back when you have the time! Rob.

2023-07-24 11:44:09 +0000 UTCThanks for updating us Monica! Selfishly, I'm not thrilled about this news, but you have to do what's best for you.. Sometimes you have to prioritise some things over others, that's life. I'll stay around for the modern Who reactions coming up with the specials, but then unfortunately I'll probably have to unpledge. This isn't a goodbye though. You can count on me being here whenever you choose to start reacting to classic Who again, even if that's two years from now! Hopefully it's not that long and you'll find some time and way to do a reaction here and there, but you never know. I'll keep checking in regularly to see if a new one has been posted. Anyway, I'm looking forward to these last few classic Who reactions and the modern Who specials and then whatever you may have in store for us after that, whenever that may be. That's enough of my rambling!😅

2023-07-24 11:29:06 +0000 UTCIs there a way we will be able to contact you? I will be moving next year, and I wanted to keep you in the loop about that.
