v0.38 Progress - The Internet at your Fingertips
Added 2021-02-21 12:34:11 +0000 UTCAlright, in this case the "internet" is actually just three sites, but it's a start! For the last few days I have been working on new content for v0.38 centered around your phone/computer and viewing social media posts girls have made. I've also been polishing up the last few details on the texting system, which is now integrated with all existing events and ready for new ones to be added.
The new internet content is going to be based around three social media sites. Lily already has a storyline involving her posting to Instapic, a legally unique photo posting website. Now any girl will be able to have an Instapic account, and you can check what pictures of themselves they have posted that day, if any. Not all girls will have an account, and some personality types are more likely to have them than others. In addition to checking out pictures of your favourite girls you can also leave comments for a minor stat effect or send her a private message and ask for some "special content".
Two other websites, which reference absolutely no existing company or service, are also being added. On DikDok girls can post videos of themselves and their friends. Of course the terms and services can be a little strict, so slutty girls may turn to a much more open site: OnlyFanatics. Here girls can put up pictures and videos of themselves, which you can pay to gain access to. Girls may have accounts on one, two, or all three of these sites, and may cross-advertise them so you can go from Instapic to OnlyFanatics to check them out in more "detail".
Lily's Instapic storyline will now allow you to be on both sides of the story. Not only can you help her take interesting shots and convince her to take "special requests" from her fans, you can send her those special requests and check out the same pictures you helped her take. I'll also be laying the groundwork for Jennifer joining her online, as well as branching out to other less restrictive platforms.
Plenty of content to write, so I'm going to get back to work! Hope you're excited for v0.38!

It will be as open to modding as the rest of the game (ie. completely). The way content is hooked up might be tweaked going forward to make it easier to have multiple mods all add content internet based content without conflicting with each other. As for playing video: Ren'py can display video, but it's not a commonly used feature. I'm not sure if that's for a performance reason or if it's just a matter of most visual novels not including content like that. I'd be interested in seeing what sorts of modded content people could put together!

I can imagine this is a great opportunity for modded content - community members can create content packs for the girls perhaps? I'm not a coder - would this system be able to play actual videos? Could someone for instance code a file and include a folder of pics/videos that could be "plugged in"?
