sorry I took a break from social media (with the exception of memes) and spent some more time learning about blender!! I had a few days of frustration with my PC once I got home when I kept installing versions of blender and kept getting an error message that wouldn’t let me open the program. After 3-4 days I realized it was because my monitor HDMI cable was plugged into my motherboard and not my NVIDIA GPU lmao. If you don’t know what I’m talking about, I basically made a newb mistake & wasted a lot of time. The REASON for this silly mistake… and worthy of mention is that it was bc I had just come up on a standing desk!!! My posture & calf muscles have been stupid sore for the past 2 years of sitting… and I found myself really missing standing and waiting tables in my younger years T___T The desk electronically moves up and down to switch between sitting and standing effortlessly, and it’s improved my posture, mood, and overall life significantly and I wanted to shout at you all to look into it. :)
I got this one off craigslist for a steal but here's the original:
Okay that was a life update and if ya’ll remember from 2 weeks ago, I have formally quit 3D freelancing… for an indefinite period. I’m hoping like 2-3 months at least so I can work on a few personal projects (like a video game and a comic and a fashion presentation) which I’ll be updating here~~~ It took a while to prepare for this so I took time off IG to not tempt me into the need to show off fancy corporate work lol I usually have fomo seeing all my peers do "big" stuff
This week Dom and I plan to drop our H99 winter capsule (some cute things on the way~!) so I had to make a character, rig it, and animate it. I decided to use Blender bc I had only learned how to basically kit-bash, texture, light, animate cameras, and render. I’ll make another post next about that previous project. I have to say… modeling in blender is AMAZING!!!!
I’m going to drop some youtube links for what I learned from recently:
BASIC NAVIGATION:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ILqOWe3zAbk
Bro I had no idea how to get around this program but with practice, I promise it will become muscle memory. It was only difficult the first few days but after 2 weeks...I forgot how to navigate c4d LMAO
CHARACTER MODELING:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WnPkrxz4AQQ&t=272s
Straightforward, no bullshit character modeling 101
RIGIFY WORKFLOW:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yTm35Fte_Gs
My dumbass had no idea what rigify was… but it’s basically a modular workflow for rigging characters (my greatest weakness in 3D) you can also use another plugin to import rigify from blender into unity!!! Which is what I’d like to do ASAP so I can make a video game haha
I’m pretty impatient when it comes to learning… I can’t sit down and watch 10 consecutive videos on how to do something step by step. I only really search exactly how to do an exact thing, make multiple mistakes, and learn the hard stubborn way. I know everyone’s different but I will try to be as authentic as possible here when I say I made a ton of mistakes. I would tell Dom “fuck it I’m giving up… I’ve been trying this for 2 hours it won’t work forget it” and still sit there trying and then 20 minutes later I’ll get it. Or I’ll take a break and do another craft like draw or literally watch an episode of anime and come back.
Anyway, here's a video of a cute lil star-rabbit-kitten I made + rigged + animated :)
I have a few more posts to make today to catch up on anything so I apologize in advance for the SPAM
