2023-12-29 00:06:03 +0000 UTCI haven't watched your reaction to episode 2 yet so you might have figured some of your questions out by now, but I'll explain here just in case! General Pei Ming was the womaniser, Pei Jr. was the one with the clone that was luring merchants to Half Moon Pass and sacrificing them. This is the reason he was on trial and will be exiled. It's not explained in the episode, but Pei Ming wants Pei Jr. to become the main Martial God of the West. This is why he was trying so hard to cover Pei Jr.'s tracks and shift blame onto either Banyue (the sorceress) or Hua Cheng - once Pei Jr. is exiled, now that his believers have scattered, his chances at becoming the Martial God of the West are shot. You're not wrong to be confused with this episode, because there was a lot of info dump and some of it won't be hugely relevant for a while. All you really need to remember (for now) is that Wind Master and his brother Water Master are hugely influential and they have very different outlooks: Wind Master is more like Xie Lian and values justice over convenience, while Water Master would rather not interfere with things and keep the status quo. Oh! The other thing is the dragon. No one sacrificed their life to send for help with the fire dragon method - it's just the one surefire way to let Heaven know that an official is in a dire situation and needs help. Whoever used the dragon technique is fine, but they'll now be depleted of powers and needs rescuing, which is why Xie Lian and Wind Master are going to Ghost City. :) If you ever need more help with the series, don't hesitate to Discord me!

Hua Cheng is handsome af and very *chef's kiss because I don't have a word for him*, but there's something about Wangji and especially his dynamic and relationship with Wuxian that I just adore with all my heart. This season is still airing, but as of the time I'm writing this the ninth episode is out so the season may finish by the time you catch up!
