2023-01-18 09:44:03 +0000 UTCSo, yeah. Nie Huaiseng engineered the entire thing so that Yao would not only die but be completely ruined in every way. I don't think we can say Huaiseng was a Bad Person - he just worked within his skillset. He never wanted to learn to fight, he wanted to live a peaceful life as a poet and artist. First his older brother refused to let him be himself, then Yao killed Mingue which forced Huiaseng to become the leader of the clan - something he had no interest in or wanted. But he did love his brother and he did want revenge. So...how to do that when you can't fight and you've convinced the whole world you're useless to escape all the responsibilities you hate? You find someone to do it for you. Huiaseng always admired Wuxian, all the way back to their school days. Wuxian was the perfect person to deal with all this - aside from being dead. That meant Huiaseng had to find someone foolish, desperate, or crazy enough to manipulate into sacrificing himself. He finally found that person - Mo Xuanyu. Huiaseng also knew Wangji had an...attachment to Wuxian and would most likely help. And thus were our mystery-solving lovers brought back together. Which kind of makes Nie Huiaseng their matchmaker? Haha. Without him, they would have been separated forever by Wuxian's death. AND he got his revenge - congrats to Huiaseng for pulling it all off and coming out of the whole ordeal without a scratch or bad reputation.
