Chapter 6 - New life in God of War

"OK, since no one wants to say anything, let me introduce myself. I'm Hyper—"
"What do you intend to do with us?"
Hyperion had just started speaking but was interrupted by Faye.
Silence returned.
Hyperion stared at her innocent face for a moment before finally saying,
"You did that on purpose, didn’t y—"
"No!"
Faye interrupted him again.
Silence...
A slight smile played on Faye's lips.
There was also amusement in the eyes of the red-haired goddess of war.
"Haaah, aren't you afraid that irritating me might make me do bad things to you?" Hyperion sighed but still voiced his curiosity. He knew they were intelligent women, so there was no logic in what she was doing.
"You won’t. My race has great attunement with nature and souls; I can sense your gentle nature. We only attacked you before because you appeared out of nowhere in the middle of our battle. I feel that she can also sense your gentle nature." Faye said, and at the end, she looked at the redhead.
The redhead glanced at her, then looked at me.
"Kind people don’t live long."
For the first time, I heard the woman’s voice. It was the hardened voice of a warrior, yet also beautiful and soft.
"Well, if they’re as strong as I am, they can choose to be kind. My name is Hyperion. I’ll release you now, please don’t fight." He said, looking at them for confirmation.
Faye nodded, her beautiful blue eyes honest.
The redhead just scoffed but seemed to agree.
Hyperion released the chains and returned the blades to the girl. When he went to pick up the axe to hand it back, it flew automatically into Faye’s hand, and she placed it on her back.
The redhead also stored her blades on her back.
"Well, it seems I was right about you being kind. My name is Faye, a Midgardian." Faye introduced herself, lying about her identity.
The two of us then looked at the other girl.
A few seconds passed before she opened her mouth and simply said, "Kratos."
"That sounds like a masculine name, am I mistaken?" Hyperion asked, a bit confused.
She just looked at me without reacting, but after a few seconds of my curious gaze fixed on her, she finally decided to speak.
"When I was born, we were at war. There was a shortage of soldiers and an excess of women. The girls were then separated—those who were weaker remained just as normal women, while the healthier and stronger ones received men's names and training. They fought as men and died as men." Kratos said.
But then she furrowed her brows and looked cautiously at Hyperion. Normally, she would just say "no," but she had spoken so much—something was wrong.
Hyperion snapped out of his surprise and saw her wary gaze, her hands reaching for the Blades of Chaos. He quickly spoke to prevent another fight.
"Don't worry, I didn’t do anything to mess with your thoughts. It’s just my aura—it’s highly attuned to nature and makes people more uninhibited about things that aren’t too important. Your secrets are safe, rest assured." Hyperion said, scratching the back of his neck as he explained.
Kratos slightly relaxed, but she was still on guard.
Faye, seeing this, laughed, finding the scene very amusing. But inside, she was filled with doubts about who this man was. He wasn’t in her visions.
"Well, I’m not from this pantheon. I’m just passing through, looking for adventure and fun. And just to be clear, Faye, I can feel your connection with nature, and you probably have many visions. But I am a being beyond fate, so you will never see me in your visions." Hyperion said, revealing a little about himself.
But what he said left them both shocked—especially Faye.
"Impossible! There’s a possibility that fate can be changed, but no being exists beyond fate!" Faye exclaimed in disbelief.
Kratos had her beautiful brows furrowed but remained silent.
"Well, I do exist. This universe is much bigger than you think. Haven’t you seen how easily I defeated you both? I know you didn’t use your full strength, but even if you had, and I hadn’t moved, you still wouldn’t have been able to scratch me. And I could defeat you with just my eyes." Hyperion said.
Although he was enjoying boasting a little, his main goal was to make them believe him, so they wouldn’t spend their time obsessing over prophecies. That’s why he challenged them.
Seeing their skeptical and disapproving expressions, he proposed:
"Let’s make a bet. If what I said is true, you both will travel with me. And if you fall in love with me, you will agree to be sister-wives… If you attack me, you automatically agree!"
Hyperion rushed the last part when he saw both of them angrily attacking him without even agreeing to the bet.
And so, his words led to a small battle where he proved his claim.
"His strength makes no sense. Not even Odin comes close to being this strong." A breathless Faye, leaning on her axe, looked in disbelief at the unscathed Hyperion.
Kratos was also panting, gripping her blades.
"Well, I won, and what I said was true. Now you both have to honor your part. Hahaha!" Hyperion laughed happily.
Faye and Kratos exchanged troubled glances. They had heard what he said but hadn’t believed him. At most, they thought he was stronger than them and that he would have to move to win or dodge attacks. Otherwise, he would get hurt, and they would still have a chance. But when they saw their blades and axe sparking against his skin, they already knew they had probably lost.
"I will go… but you said we have to fall in love. So, you cannot touch us before that. And if, by the end of the journey, it doesn’t happen, I will leave."
In the end, Kratos agreed. She valued her words, and she also didn’t believe she had a heart capable of falling in love. Besides, she was lost—without a place to go, just wandering in eternal suffering. So why not follow this mysterious man?
Faye eventually agreed as well. She had to follow Kratos because of the prophecy. According to the prophecy, she would have a child using magic to make Kratos one of the child’s parents along with her.
