They are certainly not needed to understand or appreciate the artistry, but I think it's worth noting the impact it has on the recording process and listeners. I would venture to say a majority of top charting trap artists, Uzi included throughout the recording of this record, are under the influence of highly-potent painkillers (oxy, codeine, etc), sometimes MDMA (ecstasy, pumping out ALL your brain's seratonin), weed, and potentially anti-anxiety drugs like Xanax. This may help you understand the mind state of these artists throughout the recording process... specifically in trap, many artists credit the drugs to helping them achieve a "flow state" and let go of trauma or anxieties to fully explore their creative potential. This is not to negate addiction and overdoses which have truly eaten away at the core of trap, hollowing it out for the inside to one day collapse into itself. I am nearly certain Playboi Carti is the way he is due to a debilitating drug dependency since 2016.

I would encourage you, for trap artists, to treat them similarly to how you treated Freddie Gibbs' voice on Bandana. That is -- be hyper-aware of these rappers' "flows" and how they seamlessly use their voices to convey points throughout such unique hip-hop production. This is where the trap scene is unique and can help rationalize bad lyrics. The competition truly lies in the flow and the overall atmosphere/soundscape created as a result. Don't forget, this is TRAP music, ie. it originated in trap/drug houses in low-income high-crime areas! These circumstances left lyrical subject matter to be sparse and similar. I like to tap my finger to the syllables and words trap artists use when flowing as it helps you recognize how good some of these guys are at it... Uzi, Carti, Future, etc. I think you began noticing this in the A Great Chaos reaction, noting Ken Carson had unique vocal inflections and a quick tempo over the beats. These guys manipulate words and their vocals uniquely to create "catchy" flows.

The album is sort of like monster by future, in the sense that most of the songs feel like generic trap songs lyrically, but most of the songs are supposed to be different ways of coping with heartbreak by doing drugs or smashing hoes or driving expensive cars. The first Luv is Rage is him trying to get with the girl, which he breaks up with and who luv us rage 2 is about
