I anticipate that his sound would be one you'd likely need to adjust to (sample heavy, minimal drums) but as far as looking at lyrics, I think he's one of the best out. Went to see him with a buddy recently (who wasn't really a fan previously) and he described his style as sorta spoken wordish. I think if you like Ka you'll like Roc, although Roc's subject matter is more lavish and his flow more freeform

I think Luv is rage 2 by uzi would be a perfect listen soon, it’s got a lot of the “fun” elements that you bring up with some really great vocal range and performance on top of well crafted production. 2023-06-14 21:21:50 +0000 UTCalso in the carter son video, when he shows the young kid getting baptized, he proceeds to say in the lyrics later on “wish baptism could of saved us” and then proceeds to show that kid as a teenager getting baptized again, and in the next shot he’s in prison. hope that clears up the confusion. and also that time i’m on video wasn’t his, some random guy made his name youngboy and dropped that lol

2023-06-14 18:45:22 +0000 UTCHuuuugeeee youngboy fan here, just saw your video on youtube. my personal favourite project by him is ‘Sincerely Kentrell’ if you also want to check it out im sure you’d love it. and the main reason he’s blackballed from the rap industry and no one talks about him is because his artist ‘quando rondo’ and his group shot and killed King Von, lil durk’s cousin. and Youngboy doubled down and sided with Quando Rondo, which split them off the main industry, since huge artists like J cole, Drake, Lil baby all mess with lil durk, it put youngboy in this blackballed position, where if people collaborate or do projects with him, they essentially chose his side, which would cut off their ties to the main artists in the industry. hope that makes sense and great reaction

He’s not the most consistent artist though and a lot of that has to do with him releasing so much and not just taking his time Imo. I hope all the nerds are heated that this got all hearts when they were just saying you wouldn’t like it😂😂

I think people don't really recommend him as people feel like there is more interesting/important artists/albums that they want you to listen to. To me his just one of those artists you can put on in the background where you don't really want to listen in depth but want something to fill the void Edit: Dub is sort of short for W (like how you'd pronounce it e.g dub u ) which annotates a Win. So dub is a win

He’s a great artist, has over 20 albums and mixtapes by 23. He has various flows and styles, this is easily is best album next to Until Death Call My Name and Sincerely Kentrell. I think you’re enjoy both of those. I really appreciate the reaction and open mindedness. Glad you enjoyed!
