Glad I started with the first one :)

Can’t wait to see Carter 2

Anthony McDavid

The reason most said to skip this is because lil Wayne was on top of the world during the no ceiling mixtape going into carter 3 - carter 4. He was the #1 pound for pound for a good 4-5 years. So a lot of his previous work before that era gets overlooked.

Miguel Ojeda

You’ll be doing yourself a disservice if you don’t do any mixtape Wayne. No Ceilings is the best imo

Tyler Johnson

Tha Carter 3 isn't that great tbh

Timothy Payton

I will say, his mixtapes (especially "The Draught" series) and his guest appearances are way better than any of his "Carter" albums, imo.

Brian Guthrey

George Gervin is NBA hall of fame basketball player whose nickname was The Iceman and also considered to be the king of the finger roll lay up 💯🏀

Livin Legin

Can’t wait for you to do the rest of the series! Legendary series

La’Que Newby

The Carter 1 has the feeling you get when you get you first car, it's not the best but it is good enough to make you happy and you never forget your first car and that is the Carter 1

Timothy Payton

Yea I agree with that

Kevin Lauture

U caught it on BM J.R. that feeling of Wayne freestyling. This guy doesn’t write down his lyrics, it’s insane. Glad u did this reaction. Carter 2 is a classic, can’t wait for that reaction

Kevin Lauture

i always maintained that C2 is better, but C3 is more influential

McSwagburgerXL

3:40am and i just finished watching. im glad you enjoyed it! I CANNOT WAIT FOR CARTER 2!! wayne the goat.

P T

Carter 3 is superior stop it

Savaun Lollis

Just like Killer Mike of Run The Jewels says, The Carter 2 is Wayne's true classic. Carter 1 is dope, and Carter 3 is cool, but was a big disappointment to me because all the best songs leaked and weren't included on the album. Wayne went on a crazy feature and mixtape run, so the hype for Carter 3 was out of this world, but OG Wayne fans will tell you The Carter 2 is better.

Jae

He heard birdman on drakes take care album

ryan cortes

If birdman sounds familiar but you've never heard him it's possible you might have heard the song "Still fly" in 2002 by Big Tymers which is the duo of Birdman and Mannie Fresh. That song was everywhere so a small but possible chance you heard it. Highly recommend it if you haven't heard it.

Dr. Man-love or How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Cock

Freestyled some of the best songs in hip hop history shits wild

Isaiah Muhammad

The fact that wayne doesnt write is insane

Isaiah Muhammad

BOB DID NOT NOTICE THE SAME BEAT HIT 3 TIMES AND IM LOSING IT LOL

ryan cortes

Hey Bob, Baby a.k.a Birdman is Cash Money's co-founder who you've heard before on Drake's album to whom he was signed to through Young Money which is Wayne's subsidiary label.

Jordan Hosten

AGREED, the mixtapes are just as good if not better than his albums

Logan Blake

i'm sure someone's said it by now but "coming from under the Tommy, bustin a tommy" he's pulling a tommy gun from under his Tommy Hilfiger clothing anyways, great video. you're completely spot on, most people haven't heard Carter 1. Carter 3 is the favorite for the masses, most Wayne stans prefer Carter 2. I personally really love No Ceilings and Sorry 4 The Wait.

Captain

Bob has know clue how much better lil wayne gets every album

Logan Blake

LIL WAYNE SERIES!

Logan Blake

I don’t think i can wait for you to get to his other albums. FUCK IT, knock them all out in row😂ITS WORTH IT MANE

Logan Blake

Also, Wayne doesn't usually write his rhymes. He would either memorize them like they say Jay-Z and Biggie does or freestyles and punches in new lines, where he makes it up as he goes while recording. Which is a trend adopted by the new era of young rappers.

Jordan Hosten

The make it to "the bottom of the map" line on BM JR is also reference to his home state Louisana's location in the US.

Jordan Hosten

Giving Lil Wayne a placement monthly until you get through all the Carters would be awesome! especially leading up to Carter 6 that is coming out this year. He’s that good. and he does not write, every song is a freestyle.

Logan Blake

I feel like a lot of the people saying skip this one probably only found him once he really blew up. This album was really his first at the forefront of his label with Juvenile gone and the Hot Boys broken up. He started to find more of a new rapping style around this time and the sqad up mixtapes. I hope you continue to Tha Carter 2, personally I like it more than Carter 3, honestly I like Carter 1 more than 3.

Jack Banner

Not gonna lie I got a semi when you mentioned Isaiah. Cilvia Demo for April

VeganMilk

Lol "Meatball Lamborghini, top Spaghetti" - Thats a red lamb with a cream top. "Seats ragu, twenty the shoe" - His seats red, and shoes are rims so 20 inch rims

james moore

i don't know if you noticed this, but he rapped on the same beat 3 times Walk in Inside and Walk out to show his "house". Also, I miss my dawgs is about the Hot Boys members Juvenile, Turk, and BG which was a group he was in before they all left due to financial issues. 400 Degrees by Juvenile is a really good album and was even ranked in the top of both the rap albums and overall albums of all time by rolling stones. Kendrick Lamar has also said that 400 degrees is one of his favorite albums and it has influenced him.

Aj styles212

im so happy

Anthony Wagner

When he does C3 he needs to listen to Playing With Fire instead of Pussy Monster. That’s the original C3 tracklist

Samir

This was Wayne’s first album that he freestyled and didn’t write. He has a song called 10,000 bars that’s 35 minutes long where he raps every lyric he had written at the time and he hasn’t written since

Samir

wayne’s punchlines just hit harder. god bless william for leading the campaign to start with the first album. top 5 reaction.

Psykopomp

I know it's difficult to put it into context nowadays, but Lil Wayne's run in hip-hop, especially in the mid 2000's through the 2010s was insane. And basically unmatched. Not only did every song he put out becomes a hit, but you couldn't turn on MTV, BET, or the radio and not hear him featured on a song. And that's without even mentioning his legendary mixtape run. And Wayne's music was way different before The Carter, but even more beyond this album. I used to really love his first album "The Block is Hot". His Dedication mixtape series is amazing. Just bar after bar. And he is known for so many classic verses. And though they did fizzle out, for various reasons, Cash Money dominated for a long while. You had Juvenile, Hot Boys, Big Tymers, etc. Add Mannie Fresh's production and it was just hit after hit while giving Lousina hip-hop its distinct sound. Whether Wayne is your style or not, he is definitely one of the most influential hip-hop artists and artists in general. His style and delivery are highly mimicked even today. And he LOVES rapping. It's literally all he ever does. Rap and watch sports. lol But he truly does do it from his love and passion for the music. And you don't have to absolutely love his music in order to respect that. And to people who really love the genre and culture of Hiphop, all agree that Wayne is a GOAT and one of the best to ever do it.

Wesley

The people who said skip tha carter 1 never did their own homework pre carter 3

Bobby porter

I'm only 3 tracks in and I'm loving the way you're hearing this... That "towing the line" point about leaving implications up for interpretation is really cool, I agree completely. Wayne is hilarious but he's got some mean lines here and there as well... Anyway, I was in the camp of almost disregarding Tha Carter 1 but I'm glad you started with this. Also worth mentioning: This first breakout Tha Carter album coincided with Kanye's first album if you'd like to keep those trajectories in mind, and young Lil Wayne would follow this one up quickly the next year with the IMO much superior That Carter II and then of course Tha Carter III in 2008 which certified him completely before going on to sign Drake, Nicki Minaj and making power moves like such which would come to define his next level of mogul status in the hip hop game. And THEN came ups and downs and a prison stint and the interesting delayed editions of Tha Carter that I can't wait to hear your fresh ears take on someday.... Anyway, I'm loving this, back to the video :)

Stefan Borglycke

For Wayne I think he should just go through tha carters for now

Mahmood Al Mardi

would be incredible with wayne but mixtapes make it hard to know what to leave out

Spencer Thompson

i agree with @mahmood

trevor gardner

Hey Bob, In terms of committing to an artist I think the system you did with Kanye before in committing to finishing an artist and ensuring they have a place in the monthly rotation would be a good compromise while you also cycle through new artists/new releases.

Mahmood Al Mardi

ISAIAH RASHAD SQUAD EATIN. HE GOT A MENTION IN THE "ARTISTS I HAVEN'T TOUCHED YET" CONVERSATION. LET'S FUCKING GO! Anyways. I loved Wayne when I was a teenager when Carter 3 was dropping, but I have never actually listened to this album. Excited to listen with ya Bob

Alex VonBerg

Bruh if you would have heard "Lollipop" & "Mrs. Officer" & "Pussy Monster" before part 1 I'd be deceased

GimmickGOAT

walk in is such a good opener

LETS FUCKING GO
