Incorporates more rock, funk, and electronic. Also has a few of their biggest songs ever. Aquemini is just Outkast‘s best album. Better both musically and lyrically than Atliens imo

I'm not going to do new drops for the sake of new drops. For example, JPEGMAFIA and Danny Brown collab? All over that. Kanye drops something new? Yup, for sure. But the guys like Vince Staples, Weeknd, Pusha T, etc... not doing their new drops since I haven't heard their stuff before. So as I work through albums and hear more artists, then I get into new stuff. Or, if some artist breaks out with a debut.

One thing that you said popped out at me: You mentioned the rhyming skills during the ATliens track and compared it to Kanye's more simplistic rhyming. If you appreciate good writing and great rhymes, you should consider checking out Eminem's discography if you haven't already. Marshall Mathers LP is a great intro to it.

Folks, either check that out or promote it for Bob if you feel so inclined. It's rollicking, emotive stuff--also perfect for listening to while reading Genius because that particular UK accent is not easy for most folks to ken.

2022-06-18 01:21:32 +0000 UTCOne cool thing about these old school reviews is that I've known the whole by heart for 25 years (we're prob about the same age), learned it the old fashioned way of repeated listens and lots of rewinding -- and then I watch you with the lyrics pulled up and there's like 8 times or so where I'm like "ohhh, that's what they said". Ok! What I had thought made sense too! On the other hand, there's about as many times where I'm still confident that genius has it wrong, but just a word or two here or there that don't make a huge difference.

I'm about as big of a Drake fan as there is and I had to turn it off and take a break. The whole thing sounds like a walk in the mall......on to circles!!!! I wouldnt mind a different Drake album though.....nothing was the same would be a great suprise.

I hope Aquemini takes a spot next month, it retains ATLiens superb lyricism but the production goes to whole other level (+ they bring back some of the funk elements from Southernplayalisticadillakmuzik). there's always debate of what the best OutKast album is, but i'm team Aquemini lol. also the physical CD of ATLiens is a literal comic book, like the liner notes is a whole OutKast comic book. it was the first cd i bought when i was a young teen and it blew my mind lol.
