Kendrick also recently said that Little Simz is probably the best in the game right now. Please see this album as a wake up for yourself that the little bit more ‘underground’ albums in hiphop have so much more to offer. Thank you for this one, glad you did it!

2022-04-30 09:19:53 +0000 UTCAlways felt like this album was sort of critic bait, the presentation is lush and epic, but a lot of times it feels like the production just doesn't quite connect to the themes of it's songs, and even though the lyrical content is conscious and introspective, it just doesn't feel deep enough, she might use expressive or big words or touch on deep and personal subject but it never feels deeper than the surface, or even feel raw in it's expression, plus a lot of lyrics just feel like filler. Someone like Kendrick touches on similar themes as Simz but in a way more profound and original way, but even someone like Dave, who is also a UK rapper, he might not be as deep or as abstract as Kendrick, but he offers a more raw approach to conscious and introspective themes, you really feel the emotion in his lyrics. Of course it's just my opinion, sorry for the negative post, i tried with this album several times but I honestly prefer her previous album Grey Area.

Also, I don’t think it’s necessary to listen to their whole discography before BTTIGTP. You should listen to Floss though at least to see how far their sound developed.
