Finding pause points is always a struggle. I don't like pausing during a verse, but killing a transition is also no good. I think I need to start pausing somewhere on the final line of a chorus or something.

Bob_the_Poppop

It's starting to grow on me. This album is more of a slow burn.

Bob_the_Poppop

Ka and Billy Woods too (or so I've been told)

Bob_the_Poppop

Simz is next Friday. I just pushed her back one week. Still doing Introvert (really excited for it)

Bob_the_Poppop

I feel like I'm going through that process right now. Initially, I was shrugging this album off. But now, it's starting to click a little more, a little more, a little more...

Bob_the_Poppop

I appreciate the kind words, man. Glad you were album to dodge so much of that environment and do well for yourself ❤

Bob_the_Poppop

Such a wild story too.

Bob_the_Poppop

ATLiens in June. Would've been May, but had to push things out a bit to make space for Kendrick.

Bob_the_Poppop

Really?

Bob_the_Poppop

My current plan is to do Ka's Honor Killed the Samurai and Dilla's Donuts on the same Friday. Both albums are fairly short, and I love the idea of going from extreme lyrics to extreme production in one day. Total mind warp :)

Bob_the_Poppop

I've heard it. Unbelievable verse

Bob_the_Poppop

🤘

Bob_the_Poppop

Yeah, they're hit or miss

Bob_the_Poppop

<3

Bob_the_Poppop

I waited for your break :P

Bob_the_Poppop

haha

Bob_the_Poppop

THIS IS INFORMATION THAT HAS BEEN RELAYED TO ME AS WELL

Bob_the_Poppop

so glad you adored FEEL. because it’s my favorite on the album. Thundercat bass on it is wonderful too. I’ve praised him way too much in your comments, but he really appears everywhere, he’s sprinkled in a lot of the stuff you’ve reacted to lol. Former Suicidal Tendencies bassist too! This is my least favorite kendrick album but it’s still great which is just so cool. Only a couple of songs i never revisit. All the music videos are really worth a watch too, they’re all incredible.

Antonio

just wanna say on LUST, my theory has always been that the lust isnt just sexual. its a lust for yourself and self indulgence over anything else

Jake Curran

Love the reaction Bob! I remember it took me a few listens but that’s is for real my favorite Kendrick album. It’s so easy to listen to. PS if you like The Alchemist you need to check out some Action Bronson music! I’ve commented about him a couple times but I saw this as a good opportunity to do it again 😂 he’s one of my favorites!

Adam Liber

I would reccomend just listening and rewinding more instead of reading lyrics because if you're trying to read and listen you do neither. You paused at a lot of transitions too. Kendrick is really clear so I think if you put the lyrics away you can just listen and hear everything. Then after a song is over go back and read. I think rewinding and relistening is better

Tyrone R

As far as lyrics go Bob, please, dig away. I know for me anyway, that's the reason I'm here

Paulie Walnuts

Great reaction like always. I think some of these tracks will grow on you musically they did quite a bit for me at least. So excited you’re doing untitled unmastered tomorrow!!

Mr. Bigweld

Great reaction. Now time to deep dive on Lupe Fiasco before you hand out top lyricist awards

Kevin Vercauteren

I enjoy when you over analyze lyrics ! Because of the Internet I would love a deep dive into the lyrics . Great work !

Jay

the sound of this album is a lot more complex than people give it credit for. yeah musically speaking it's more controlled and it's a seemingly lesser amount of work than tpab, but damn is so much more refined and well engineered. though damn isn't my favorite kendrick album i still think it is his best. people can argue about it back and forth all day, but the amount of kneading kendrick did with the producers and other artists really shows. it's hard to say more about the project without having to write an essay, so just keep listening and enjoy it at your own leisure.

Henry

Bruh what a surprise! What does this mean for simz? Maybe I should watch the video and you’ll cover it

CRASH

I really appreciated your honesty when talking about being confronted with your old beliefs. Really cool.

Isaac Backer

This album definitely took me a while to really get into but now I like it almost as much as TPAB. It felt "simple" to me at first compared with his other stuff but there is so much content here the more you dig. BLOOD gives a lot of context to the rest of the album the more you listen. Pay attention to the contrast of wickedness vs weakness. The blind woman is supposed to be lady justice (justice is blind) but she has lost something, representing how America's justice system is broken. She kills Kendrick when he tries to help her find what she lost, i.e. when he is fighting for justice. Also, with regards to Carl's speeches, Kendrick often includes perspectives he doesn't necessarily agree with, so I wouldn't assume he believes the same thing, but he finds Carl's perspective compelling.

Matt Eaton

FEAR has been my favorite track since day one and it hasn't changed.

Ian Harvey

Nothing wrong with diving in the lyrics. It’s fun to watch you figure them out and even give me a perspective I haven’t thought about even tho I’ve listened to this album a hundred times! In an interview Kendrick said this is his favorite album of his because it has storytelling of GKMC, concepts of TPAB, and the ability to do whatever he wants like S80. Also easier to listen to in the background than the others I didn’t like LUST for months after the album came out but I really enjoy it now. My favorites are FEEL, FEAR, and duck worth as well so you have great taste I must say. Cheers 🥂

neff118

I Know You Worry A lot About The Length Of The Video, But Personally I Would Still Watch If It Was 4hrs Long. I Enjoy Hearing Your Perspective. I Grew Up In South Central L. A. Lived In Watts For A Few And Years And Then In Compton For A Few Years As Well. So A lot Of His Music Is Relatable To Me, Cause I’m Kind Of Like A Kendrick Lamar Being That Grew Up In The Environment But Never Joined A Gang. Knew Lots Of Gang Members Including My Older Sister. Childhood Friends Who Died From Gang Related Shootings. Both Parents Spent Yrs In Prison… Now As An Adult I Do Good For Myself. Moved To A Much Better City To Raise My Kids In A More Decent Environment. Fun Fact I Also Came Out In 2 Of Kendrick’s Videos… Love Your Reactions 🔥🔥💯

Roberto Duenas

the truth no one admits it Lupe did it first.

Jordan Hosten

Wickedness vs Weakness “Put it in reverse” If you play the album from back to front the lady who shoots him is an angel killing him for his actions or something around that idea (it’s been awhile) and front to back he gets killed for his weakness. It’s why some tracks had reversed parts in them too to give you a hint of the concept, I remember upon release it took a couple days or so for people to realize this. Definitely look into the concept abit more! while it’s more of a novelty concept rather then a more organic one like GKMC and TPAB it’s still cool nonetheless!

Tribecalledjoe

Your reactions and breakdowns are great man, truly.

Whyyeezus

Feel us such a good track but something about FEAR just rings for me. "If I could smoke fear away..."

Joshua Brice

You told me to remind you once you did DAMN!! Please do Overly Dedicated from 2010 as well!!! 🙏🙏🙏😭 I seriously cannot wait till May 13 for his new album either!!! :’DDD

Tapes

I believe the album was made so that it can be listened to backwards from the last track to the first.

Josh

9th Wonder also produced Rapsody. She’s a BEAST.

SlumpJones

W for adding Dead End and Nardwuar

GhostlyRipper

You and turning the tables did DAMN the same week 🙌🏽

King Arcane

Something I found interesting is the story on Duckworth is such an obvious choice of story any other rapper would have put on they’re debut album. Kendrick waited until his fourth studio album to talk about that story. That’s what I call patience lol

Thesacster

Also ATLiens next month pls 🥲

snooza

9th Wonder (producer of duckworth) is a legend. Hopefully you listen to Little Brother at some point, he was a member and produced their first 2 albums.

snooza

File is broken. Video has no audio!

Elie Maitre

something about xxx makes it feel like it was ripped straight out of tha carter III. lil wayne is going to surprise you with his ability to deliver social commentary, can't wait until you eventually get to it.

Psykopomp

Hyped for my first upload notification. Just joined after WTT. I was gonna comment on yt but I figured you’d definitely see this here since it’s a subscription. Love what you’re doing keep it up. Hopefully you think about doing a producer’s album. Like dilla or Madlib. Think you would really like dilla donuts. I know ur complaint about beats is that they’re repetitive and though they are generally, dilla’s approach to sampling I think you’ll appreciate especially if u dig into the background and story on how he made some of his beats. like don’t cry him programming the mpc to catch the snare on every part of the sample he’s using he lets it play so you hear the original at the top of the track and then he chops the sample up on the snare amazingly plus there’s deeper meanings behind the beats and sample selections due to the fact that he was dying of lupus as he made the album literally from his hospital bed mostly. I know you’re a lyric guy but I thought that it could be a nice change up for future reference. I’ll try to keep my comments shorter in the future lol

EzeeDuhzit

Trippin. GOD is beautiful.

George

Hey Bob, the reverse "concept" from this album was influenced or just straight up pulled from Lupe's Testsuo & Youth album, you should really check it out after you do his first two albums, it's very very lyrically dense

Christopher Bloom

This is kendricks worst album in my opinion and its still a 8/10 album... even though i think GOD. is the worst song Kendrick has every made

idk

You should listen to the song Control by Big Sean featuring Kendrick. K Dot p much calls out all the big rappers in his generation by name and challenges them. One of the most iconic verses in Hip Hop.

Lex

VOUCH

Lex

If I gotta react to a Kendrick album Imma make it look sexy

Jad Fadel

Another great album and reaction. Btw don’t take those annotations too seriously. Anyone can write those they can be wrong and dumb lol

Bdh II

Day 2 of suggesting Tha Carter III :)

Bobby porter

dude you really are the best reactor on youtube. good shit.

Psykopomp

My favorite Kendrick project Untitled unmastered is a close second

Lance Boldman

My Favorite Album of All Time. Can't wait to watch!

SlumpJones

This is gonna be good. I also recommend listening to the tracks in reverse order for this one. Apparently it’s how he intended for it to be listened to and he rereleased it as a collectors edition with the tracks in reverse of the original album.
