I'm very late to the party, but I can see that none of the comments have mentioned this yet. In X-Wing, when he says "Mac ain't make it to 27, Pac ain't made it to 26, Biggie ain't make it to 25", that is absolutely huge praise to Mac. Biggie and Pac were not just rappers, they were icons in the true sense of the word. They really do live on through the culture, and mentioning Mac with them shows that Denzel holds Mac in very, very high regard. Also, you haven't really heard Mac rap yet to my knowledge - maybe GO:OD AM or Faces would be nice albums to do. Going through Mac's discography front to end is also an incredibly enriching experience albeit a lot more time-consuming.

2022-08-30 17:19:32 +0000 UTCAint no songs on this album that I could skip. Any one could be a single. This project definitely fits in a sort of vibe where I could listen to this and TPAB back to back. I think I enjoy listening to this one more.

2022-04-20 18:47:16 +0000 UTCAlso, its half and half when it comes to reacting to something with you versus watching you react to it. While I agree there is some groupthink that occurs when the former happens, but it also feels cool to be thinking something and you also bring it up or you have a diff take in that moment, as I listen to this Denzel tape for the first time with you, I have my own takes that I am forming still

2022-04-11 14:50:27 +0000 UTCIf you do any rollout content reaction before an album drops Id recommend still listening to those tracks youve already reacted to again because an album is like a story book and if youre missing one of the chapters from the full read its gonna feel incomplete Also singles might not be the move because you are the type of listener to need a few songs from an artist to truly understand their take, so maybe with artists youve already reacted to it makes sense but maybe not new artists to you

2022-04-09 18:42:26 +0000 UTCI would suggest checking out at least one classic Samurai film for this week. Yojimbo/Sanjuro are two films by Akira Kurosawa ("this is a Zel Kurosawa film") that are maybe most relevant. Haven't seen any Zatoichi yet, but another great series is the Lone Wolf and Cub series.

2022-04-09 18:38:44 +0000 UTCI don’t know if you’ll read this but I just have to recommend Little Simz - Sometimes I Might Be Introvert. Incredibly grand, versatile and introspective rap album. Really takes you on a journey and tells a story. Her single Introvert was Fantano’s favourite single of 2021 Edit; Thanks Cullen for letting me know! Completely missed that. Nice surprise for me!

2022-04-09 17:33:29 +0000 UTCI think it's great to check out new albums from artists you've become familiar with but I'm more into this channel for the tour through hip hop history (including very recent history) than whatever is the latest thing. So doing rollout singles and stuff doesn't do much for me. I also would rather see the reaction in the context of a full album experience than piecemeal. It wouldn't be so bad if it happened sometimes but as you've said you're already at max capacity and I wouldn't want it to become the focus of the channel. That is just my preference.

2022-04-09 16:26:27 +0000 UTCyeah, that makes a lot more sense lol... and I know about the company, so I don't know why I didn't make the association to a jacket since that's pretty obvious. Oh well. Fun story for the company name at minimum, and a long reach for Money Trees :)

2022-04-09 11:17:47 +0000 UTCDelivery is a big part of it, for sure. It's also one of those intangible qualities that's hard to describe. I feel like Denzel is just putting fun little spins on these wordplays he uses

2022-04-09 11:15:26 +0000 UTCDaytona, Ye and KSG are going to be all on the same day since they're short. I think that's July? Something like that (I forget the Kanye order and Outkast is rotating in for June over Kanye)

2022-04-09 11:09:04 +0000 UTCGlad you love the album! It’s such a different sound from his past projects and it really shows his versatility. You really need to hear imperial and 13-EP. They are also very great listens. Hopefully I’m not the first and only person to request this artist but I think you would enjoy, British artist, Slowthai. He was the feature on Zatoichi. His last album TYRON is very personal and showcases his lyricism. It was one of the best albums of 2021. Hope you give it a listen. TYRON by Slowthai

2022-04-09 07:08:40 +0000 UTCIt's always so cool to see you provide well thought out descriptions of lines that you are totally wrong about lol. I hate to burst your bubble but the North Face line refers to the clothing brand that makes jackets. Cold world we don't even got a North Face (jacket). But I will give you some credit in knowing the origin of why a jacket brand would be called North Face.

2022-04-09 02:49:51 +0000 UTCAs for the zatoichi line, say my name I teleport, I took it as he doesn’t need a fancy car to move, wherever his name is said/invoked he lives. It could also be a reference to the zatoichi character, I don’t know.

2022-04-09 00:23:35 +0000 UTCTo answer your opening thoughts questions, yes I think you should react to the rollouts and a week wait after an album drop to review sounds good enough if you want us to form our opinions first
Josh
2022-04-09 00:08:16 +0000 UTCSo glad you’re reviewing newer albums with the others 👍
Josh
2022-04-09 00:04:47 +0000 UTCI can’t wait until you get to listen to XXXTentacion’s debut album “17”, it’s lofi, raw, and it was new at the time when clout rap was at an all time high which he was one of the main rappers that people associated it with. The album is commercially successful, most critiques hate it, but rappers like Kendrick, Joe Budden, Denzel, and Joey Badass gave it high praise.
Zach Gupta
2022-04-08 23:54:35 +0000 UTCYou should react to Denzel’s cover of bulls on parade when you get a chance, he does a great job! It’s only 5mins on YT
Brock Engel
2022-04-08 23:30:17 +0000 UTCWould love for you to do the full album rollouts. Not for every artist , but when a big one or one you particularly like is dropping an album it would be cool to see you experience it all. Side note…PLEASE react to Vince staples. He released an album today and it’s currently my AOTY. Also he is probably the only rapper in Denzel’s generation that has a catalogue of albums that rivals his when it comes to quality and innovation.
Brandon White
2022-04-08 22:56:54 +0000 UTCThe Zatoichi beat sounds like Prodigy or maybe chemical brothers?
Joshua Brice
2022-04-08 22:55:58 +0000 UTCKal Banx, who produced Walkin’, is a newer producer who really broke out last year when he produced a good chunk of Isaiah Rashad’s The House is Burning. Idk if he’s been on your radar yet, but Isaiah is somebody who has die hard fans (including me), and raps a lot of stream of consciousness kind of stuff. Lots of songs about mental health, I think you’d really like his first album, Cilvia Demo. So glad you’re loving this Zel album, super in love with it. Thought it was pretty funny when you were talking about “how would i feel if drake wrote these lines?” I think delivery has to do with everything when it comes to punchline bars. Drake and Denzel Curry could be saying the exact same words, but Denzel’s delivery can come off less corny.
Antonio
2022-04-08 22:45:18 +0000 UTCHey Bob you should check out Anthony Fantano’s interview with DENZEL about this album. DENZEL goes in depth about certain themes and songs on this interview: https://youtu.be/VtEme1PjO6A

2022-04-08 22:33:00 +0000 UTCReligion / faith is a big theme on the album as he stated in an interview, maybe even the biggest, i'm just happy Denzel is in a better place mentally, album is pretty all over the place for my taste.

2022-04-08 22:19:13 +0000 UTCBob, maybe the next new album can be Pusha T’s? You can pair it with Daytona which is only like 23 minutes long.

CRASH
2022-04-08 21:58:58 +0000 UTCDenzel took it to another level with this album, been on steady repeat the since it dropped. Reaction not disappointing so far either (midway through The Last rn). Probably a top 3 album this year.
Bakke
2022-04-08 21:54:31 +0000 UTCI think you should consume none of the rollout until 1 week, and just go into the album
Bobby porter
2022-04-08 21:50:48 +0000 UTCFor the channel’s growth, I agree it would help. But I also think it will make for a worse “product.” imagine if he went into this album already hearing the 3 singles? No thanks. If he ever does singles, he should do it for songs not released on albums. Or singles for artists he will probably never do a full album reaction for.
CRASH
2022-04-08 21:43:45 +0000 UTCDenzel released a YouTube only EP in 2020 titled 13LOOD 1N + 13LOOD OUT MIXX. It’s only 13 minutes long. Would be cool if you checked it out so you can mention it during additional thoughts. It goes fucking HARD https://youtu.be/JlnSGO10IlM
CRASH
2022-04-08 21:41:39 +0000 UTCreacting to singles during an album rollout could be really great for channel growth, especially with a big drop like kendrick. i think it's probably a good idea.
