Sorry for the bad English. This s how i understand the video. The lady falling from the sky is Kanye's artistry, his gift that he receives from above (God). and first thing he tells it is never listen to what they say on the news. He then natures it, trains it, shows it the fame and fortune they can achieve together, how they can be like mike (which has evil (KKK) surrounding him him and when he finally introduces his gift / art, the media / critics are shocked, / don't accept it as it is not what they are used to. The media eats on art / they feast on peoples talent ( depicted by the chicken) and even eat young talent (quail eggs). when he decides to show them what he can do and perform. the critics have their back on the performance and don't even watch, they only focus when he asks to cheers for the douchebags. The criticism even kills his own mother and when that devastates him they all run and leave him on his own. he then decides to go back to the beginning and start over. He rises again like a phoenix, now even stronger.

Brian

Good art makes you think :)

Dan Platonov

Thanks for the upload. Can't wait to see how you like the rest of the ye arch. Also, would love to hear how his art or him changed your view on things! All the best - Dan

Dan Platonov

Thank you

Dan Platonov

hey im new! been watching on the tubes for a while now. but idk if knew this but theirs an unreleased track leaked in between 808’s and mbdtf called “never see me again” it’s basically a suicide note in song form that would hv been released after his “death”. the song samples a (i think korean) artist that killed herself by jumping of a building. and in the song POWER at the end he says “make your life so exciting” but the sound slowly fades from “so exciting” to “suicide”. and this is said right after the line “this will be a beautiful death, jumping out the window”. their was also a bonus track on the album called “see me now” which was supposed to be the happy ending to the unreleased track called “never see me again”. this point in time is considered the nexus point in the kanye fandom that changed the course of music history. if ye would hv killed himself we wouldn’t hv had one of the most influential artist in music.

nrxdnz

Yup, I did watch that one as well. Really good performance 👍

Bob_the_Poppop

Seen someone link you to his SNL performance. Have you watched his VMA performance of runaway ? I find that one so iconic since it was his first appearance a year later after the swift incident. Ye coming back after everyone hating him and then bam just like that they love him again. Here’s the link to that https://www.reddit.com/r/Kanye/comments/azf6q0/kanye_performing_runaway_at_the_2010_vma_awards/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf

George

I think you guys are on to something with the colors of kanye's suit meaning something. I noticed at the end when he's running he's just wearing the white top.

Emmanuel

It'd be great if you could listen in your own time or react to this throwaway track from MBDTF called Mama's Boyfriend. Kanye actually performed this on a table at Facebook's HQ. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fR1c8Qw3wEA

Tommy Tran

Yes! I need to watch/listen to that

Bob_the_Poppop

Love that you watched this man! If you're into Artist making extra content for their albums I would recommend Childish Gambino's Because The Internet, his music videos all tell a story and he wrote a screenplay to read before you listen to it!

Anthony

Yeah, I was trying to consider the game aspect on that view since so many people mentioned it after my reaction. I agree though, there are broader themes in display as well

Bob_the_Poppop

That part is really trippy. And apparently he sampled something from a Japense artist that did suicide via jumping from a window? Wild

Bob_the_Poppop

I'll talk about the movie as part of additional thoughts 👍

Bob_the_Poppop

And I’m not sure if you’ve heard this on Power but after the line “So Exciting” the reverb echo on the line cuts of slightly which makes it sounds like he’s saying “suicide”. This links to the outro of him singing “Jumping out the window”. You have to have a certain amount of power to choose when to end your life

Tommy Tran

Happy to hear you watched the Mallory Bros breakdown of the album. Can’t wait to hear your thoughts and how the album has grown on you for the past week

Tommy Tran

Another banger👍🏽

Isiaha

Happy to hear you got more patrons. You deserve it.

CRASH

I loved the reaction with you and your wife. How fun. I think you should do this more often. Are we getting additionagl thoughts?

Aaron Seidnernin

Also, “lost in the world” isn’t really about sex and fame. It’s deeper. Kanye feels lost, his brain is wired different and people don’t understand him. He feels like an outcast, people judging and media bashing. He means well but comes off too passionate and people take it negatively.

Isaiah Piedra

In 7th grade I was attending the most ghetto school in Virginia. The principle named my class the worst class in the school. After a day of getting in trouble as always, my English teacher sat down and showed my classmates this film. He talked about being yourself and the importance of staying true to yourself no matter what. In the runaway scene, the black people are getting served by the white, and yet still they are judging Kanye’s new gf. After overcoming the past of being judged themselves. My teacher would pause and tell us to have an open mind. I wish it was recorded, that day changed my life forever. He rewired my thinking and I always sought to stay different from then on, and be proud. The Phoenix represents being reborn, a new beginning, and people will judge you no matter what. She offers the family bread, being nice and wanting to give, but they reject and continue to judge. The guy says “do you know she’s a bird” as if Kanye doesn’t know she’s different. It could represent how Kanye gets judged and looked at negatively even tho he is really trying to do good, it’s just that he’s different and people don’t understand him. They clap for him after he performs runaway, as if to say “good job that’s what ur supposed to be”, after they were just judging. When they bring out the turkey that makes her yell, that’s Kanye reacting to how they (media and public) still choose to eat him up. And this is why he reacts crazy sometimes , and when he reacts, people leave his side(they all leave the table). And Kanye is there palms in his face again. I think the film could have many interpretations. I believe this film/album is not just about Kanye himself, but can be a metaphor for the world. The fame is an aspect of the album, but not every detail related to his fame per se. I think u were trying to associate ever detail with his fame and missed some more overarching themes

Isaiah Piedra

Great reaction and insight, Bob and Mrs. Bob! If you can find it, I recommend watching Kanye's interview with Sway from MTV that aired live right after the MTV world premier of the film back in 2010. Really great.

Tyler Cope

absolutely great bob, quick note on michael jackson, when kanye talks about michael jacksen, he means the media killed him or was responsible for it

Essinho

I think Turning the Tables just did that album. I'm open to it as well, but I know essentially nothing about him

Bob_the_Poppop

I hope you will react to Bon Iver's (Justin Vernon) '22, a Million', incredible album.

ufo

As a long time Ye fan, this was my first time watching it in full too lol

Christopher Bloom

When you mentioned the phoenix on the album review during all of the lights i geeked out knowing there’s an actual phoenix in the short film. You’re a great visual analyzer.

George

Hey Bob, I think the ballerinas represents the women he stepped out of his relationship with. His girl/phoenix was left at the table of fame/media because he introduced her to the limelight hoping ppl would accept her even though she’s not used to it but when she doesn’t cut it or he realizes she’s just a “bird” he finds an excuse to turn his back on her and deal with other women.

Jordan Hosten

Lots of people want Pablo, but lots of people are saying please do WTT (which was the original plan), so I think I'll do WTT next (been leaning that way to begin with)

Bob_the_Poppop

Thank you! Meant to go back and re-listen to that but forgot.

Bob_the_Poppop

We watched that one prior to the movie, and she really liked it. That's when she pointed out everything about the dancers to me and made it all make a lot more sense

Bob_the_Poppop

Right? Totally changes that whole scene (and the live performances too)

Bob_the_Poppop

My pleasure. I'm glad I did it. That move was a lot more interesting than I was expecting it to be.

Bob_the_Poppop

Thanks for the exclusive reaction Bob! Would love to see you react to Watch The Throne and Cruel Summer before you move on to The Life of Pablo as they both come before TLOP.

Daniel Weinhardt

The man at the dinner table said ”I mean, leave the monkey in the zoo”

Oliver Hed

Kanye does an an interesting thing with Runaway when he does it live because for that last mumbled verse, he adds a new verse relating to something in his life at the current time. He has a really strong one on he and drakes recent live performance (youtube)

Gabriel Davis

Never understood the ballet thing either, really appreciated the perfection insight. I always assumed it was just supposed to be high art to fit in with this “gold-standard of fame” idea. & the fact that there’s a mustache on the ballerina in the alternate cover I think it’s supposed to represent that fame looks enticing & beautiful from afar but is ugly the closer you look

Teddy Andrew

Bob: “I’m not a reactor so this will probably be boring” Also Bob: *fully breaks down every scene in a well thought out, entertaining manner*

Brock Asher

Bob enters his clickbait thumbnail era

eich

Great reaction and impressions per usual and your Wife also brought some great thoughts to it aswell, thanks guys.

TylerNorCal

I loved the reaction and very interesting. The story of Kanye is coming together. The depth is revealing itself. So glad you've gone in chronological order. There is no replacement for that experience. There is a narrative from album to album and it's unlike any artist I know. Mrs. Bob would probably enjoy the SNL performance if she hasn't seen it. For the ballerinas. Runaway - Live on SNL streamable.com/gn433c

Dylan Woods

He watched it on his own before the mbdtf. I sent it to him. I love that one more than this. I like the symbolism in Runaway. But the acting and direction is better in We Were Once a Fairytale. It feels so much more real and I love how it captured the desperation of Kanye. It's impressive that Kanye directed Runaway himself but I do see the difference with an experienced filmmaker.

Dylan Woods

Thanks mr and mrs Bob. The ballerina point blew my mind.

Mike G

also you should do the “we once were a fairytale” film

bL

Thank you Bob we appreciate you reacting to this

Lexin 17

let’s go

bL

You're much more of an interpreter/analyzer than a reactor I'd say, so I agree with your point at the start. You don't do all the crazy faces and go yoooooooo and that's a good thing.

joseph

Did not expect this reaction
