You comment on the song "My Way Home" about the older vibe. It's a Gil Scott Heron sample, from the late 60's/70's you nailed it. What a tragic and awesome career he had. He was prominent in the movement at the time and a renowned poet and musician, he then disappeared for decades (crack) before finally coming back with the song "I'm New Here" where you can again hear the insight he was so well known for, only now it's directed at himself. The song is chilling and sad, but so good. He basically talks about being gone for so long that he feels new and also that it's never too late to turn around, so also kinda inspirational.

Up now :D

You're right about this album being bittersweet. There's a clear distinction between the old Kanye and new Kanye as we call it. He never was the same again.

This is going to be something I really key into going forward through his music. I can only assume that Kanye has been through a lot, but I feel like this is such a core part of his being.

Bob_the_Poppop

every thing for Kanye changed after the bear trilogy (the college dropout, late registration, graduation)

What a fantastic reaction, was really great to hear this from you as I haven't listened to LR much. Always fun to hear your perspective on things. When you talked about looking back at how happy Kanye was and his sound back then it made me think, there's a specific track on The Life of Pablo you'll like. It's called "I love Kanye". Looking forward to the next reactions!

ONTO GRADUATION!

Hey mama is always a bummer to listen to for me , you can truly see how much kanye loves his mom and makes you think about how sad her passing would’ve been for him, and you can really see down the line how it affected his mental health and music.

Keiran

Not only did Kanyes mom pass in 2007, but his ex high school sweetheart split with him in the following months. Those 2 events definitely took a really bad toll on Kanye's mental health. So for his 4th album, 808's and Heartbreak, you can tell that its a pretty damn sad album, If I recall correctly the first track starts off immediately with his moms vital signs beeping before she passed from surgery complications. 808s and Heartbreak would influence a whole new generation of artists, as it's basically what music sounds like today. Hint: A_to_une, at the time was really controversial. Many shat on the album back then but today many consider it to be one of the most influential albums of all time.

I love you bob!

I wanna reply but I don't wanna spoil the video either lol

Do you plan on uploading the unedited version sometime?
