NCT Dream BTTF Album

We are clearly going in different directions and that's okay lol. They're only getting louder and more boisterous and it's insanely jarring to me.
I think I love their songs in isolation when it's one in a while but a full body of work? This is another miss and I don't get where their A&R is going or wants us to learn about these boys? I DO think there's a way to keep their music loud, brash and annoying lol but in a way that's memorable and fresh. Those title tracks felt like they want to intentionally agitate the listener and to me it sounds confused rather than intentional artistry.
There also seems to be a lack of a strong identity throughout their branding and SM does seem to have an issue with this with their older groups cos we know Red Velvet have been somewhere in the middle for a while now and not leaning to either side.
I'd love for them to do something really fresh and experimental but with a nice hook with strong vocals on show in a way that only they can but alas!

2025-08-08 23:38:11 +0000 UTCThey did this style of title songs because korean fans did not like their DreamScape albums and wanted something harder. That is why I hate most of the korean fans. They are just so entitled to their idols.

2025-08-01 07:35:08 +0000 UTC(sorry if this is super long/negative! i promise im a dreamzen thru and thru) i love nct dream but truly i wondered what we're doing here when i listened to this for the first (and last...) timeπ with smoothie, istj and even WIWY i could at least take two more listens + watch the dance practice/a couple of music show stages to get with the program but chiller and BTTF just make me mad. this is truly the first nct dream release that i have no intention of trying/wanting to go back to and that upsets me. like someone else said in the comments "its just neo" isn't working anymore.... i don't Want dream to regress but songs like boom, teddy bear, poison, graduation, to my first, etc. are what they do best imo. i think hot sauce and glitch mode was probably their last full projects that were really enjoyable from the music itself to stages to promotions/content of the era as a whole. i like when groups branch out and do something new and take a risk but i feel for a group like dream this was Too Much. im not sure where they'll take it from here (and i must admit im kind of scared) but i hope whatever comes next is a bit more palatable.
