It's Podcast Day!

Episodes 1+2's VISUALS are now available on Patreon on all tiers!

Episodes 3 + 4's audio is now out - visuals out next week. I decided one episode a week isn't enough this week so 1 will be the absolutely minimum every Sunday but others days could have much more if there topics are there.

Today I'm discussing how people perceive ITZY's downfall and where they've gone wrong and right and also Afrobeats/Amapiano in K-pop and where I stand on that. Is it appropriation? Appreciation? Or both?

Remember to rate the podcast and comment too if you're up for it! <3

Yaay thank you. I thought as much also. I'm going to try and encorporate that as much as possible

LOVE the episode 4 format being more like a DJ set with commentary. I don't always watch your reactions to groups I don't follow so it's a great way to discover new songs/groups.

OH YES this is a great point! Just not sustainable either!!

What I find interesting about kpop sales in general is how inflated they are. Covid era 2020-2022 was the kpop “hot spot” if you will. Top kpop groups were selling 2-3 million copies within one day of their release. Since then the kpop “bubble” has burst and we are seeing more “realistic” numbers. Then you have to factor in that companies have seen this burst and to have the numbers stay high (aka look the same or even higher) they have turned to the exclusive album packages. So now, most groups (will be using HYBE as an example); have a minimum of 3 album versions, weverse version, a every single member version, then an album plus inclusion version [cd player, headphones, lock, plushies, keychains, etc]. So the hardcore dedicated fan ends up with anywhere from 10-22 album versions for ONE album depending on the group. So even though a groups selling number looks up or even seems steady it’s most likely just the more dedicated fans buying every single version possible.

Just wanted to say I’ve really enjoyed all four episodes so far As someone who always has these kinda short conversations with my friends on these K-pop topics it’s really enjoyable to be hear someone else talk about these topics at length and especially unfiltered and honest and also engagement in the topics through comments Looking forward to future podcast episodes!!
