Taeyeon Letter to Myself

Little do they know that for me If the music clicks it clicks, if it doesn't it doesn't. I don't care who it is. This is probably my least favourite Taeyeon album sonically even though vocally it's one of her strongest if NOT the strongest.
She did things I've never heard her do before regarding her high belts whilst experimenting with new phrasing styles once again.
Overall she could never do wrong in my eyes because her previous works gagged me in a way no one else has before, her tone just does something to me and cos it's a mini I had a feeling it wouldn't be my vibe.

I want to get into her more recommend me an album or two of her you find to be your favorite plz.

Letter to Myself reminded me of her earlier rock songs, but also gave like mid-2000s hilary duff/avril? I need to listen to it more because idk how I feel about it. The vocals 100000% eat but I'm ambivalent about the song because I don't mind this kind of rock and it feels a bit nostalgic, however I can't imagine myself listening to this track regularly. I didn't vibe with the rest of the mini either, esp. that second track---it falls into the bucket of the kind of songs I really don't like from her LOL. Like my love, you're so talented, WHY do you love these chill monotone songs so much??? Also the instrumental for Blur reminded me of Bambi?? Which made me laugh so I can't take that song seriously minus the amazing vocals towards the end LOL. Anyways she's still the LOML but hoping we get something diff in her next japanese comeback like you said

Some people just stick to what they're comfortable with but she's just like, im bored, let's try this. Also, she released the live clip of Letter To Myself and it made me like the song more haha

That being said she (and kyungsoo to some degree) is the only idol that can make me listen to her music over and over even if the genre is not what i normally would listen

2024-11-21 05:33:24 +0000 UTCThatโs my no.1 girl forever but I have not been feeling her past few minis. I think you worded it perfectly when you said it felt like a jam session. Itโs not a very exciting album for me. That being said I do appreciate her trying new things with her voice and playing around with it. Iโve been praying for even a crumb of anything similar to her Devilโs Cry cover for yearsss. So it made me very happy to finally hear her belting again and lean into rock. I can definitely hear Disaster being a concert song as well.

It took me a long time to like INVU also (her vocaI makes the song better for me) I think it might be the same situation with D.O or Wendy, where the artist has very special preference on music, that some times not your cup of tea. You might expect them to sing the songs that you think fit them better, but nothing can change the artist as they are. Even though I don't like the type of music that they chosen, I just respect their choice. You don't have to like every single songs that your fav put out. Just be honest with your feelings.

2024-11-20 13:42:34 +0000 UTCFirst of all, let us have this proper rock taeyeon and not just sound kind of rockish taeyeon, we've been praying for this since forever ๐ Also it's nice to hear her belting again, like BELTING and she did say for those whose been missing for her belts would be happy to hear it again after a long time and that's exactly how i felt, especially when watching the recording behind I agree with you, Taeyeon is so amazing she keeps coming back with a new way showcasing her vocals, it does feel like she's just playing around with her voice now, like you said before she has nothing else to prove in terms of vocals so it's always fun to listen to her voice. In terms of the music tho i can understand if you feel like the music is not up to par with her vocals, i understand where you're coming from but I don't mind this kind of music ๐ i don't have educated opinion about music, just by gut feelings if it clicks then it clicks. That being said i think this is her best mini album (Disclaimer : i'm not biased either, i have taeyeon songs that i dislike too โ๏ธ i can easily list down top 5 taeyeon songs i dislike) She did say she made this album specifically with a concert in mind, hope that piece of information helps you to figure out her direction with this mini. Idk how she and her band would execute it but for now i think it makes sense that the album is heavily lean towards band sound, that's what comes into my mind the first time Lastly i want to know your thought, Taeyeon pushed for letter to myself as title track when the whole company against that idea and preferred disaster as title track...whether it's a genre you like or not aside, what do you think about her choice? (I think she made the right choice because disaster felt so much like an album closer rather than a title track. It lacks the power that letter to myself has, idk if it's the production, or it's the vocal direction they chose, but i just know disaster would sound better live when taeyeon sings that chorus and her voice is not burried by the instrumental)
