I don't think I've ever given out 3 10's on an album before???
The vocal layering, harmonies, ad libs, melodies, delivery, production everything just felt SO FUCKING ALIVE and rich and exciting and not phoned in.
Welcome back Lia, girl, I WAS SLEEEPING ON YOU! I WON'T ANY LONGER.
It's a shame GOLD is the title track because it'll probably dissuade some from listening to the rest of the album which deserves A LOT OF LOVE but that is their loss fr.
I would LOOVE for them to work with some more innovative and trendy choreographers to help them loosen up and have more fun. I'd like their choreo to be a mix of Newjeans and XG or something but still them.

I'm thankful I saw your reaction first because if I had listened to Gold on my own, I wouldn't have given the other songs a chance, and oh my God, the other songs are EVERYTHING. Supernatural is a 20 out of 10. I wish it had been the title track, I'd love to see a choreography for it

2024-10-16 23:38:44 +0000 UTCfinally sat down and watched your full reaction, and i donโt think iโve seen you enjoy an album this much since i started watching your video and it was so heartwarming to see, especially because itzy are my ult for life ๐ค๐พthis album is phenomenal just like you said,and other than the production being perfect, i think that the producers finally learning how to use their vocals is what satisfied me the most during my listen. i know their discography by heart and love it, but there was always this problem with unhealthy vocal techniques and the songs being out of their ranges, and now that this issue has been resolved you can clearly HEAR the difference, they sound so fucking pretty and their vocals are so raw, natural and they sound so comfortable, itโs so beautiful to listen to!!! we can especially hear liaโs full potential as a main vocal and iโm so happy about that. iโm so proud of these girls and iโm happy that i never gave up on them, they deserve to get their fame back more than anybody

2024-10-16 19:31:03 +0000 UTC16:25 speak on it loooolll. i said this to myself the other day. i feel like although jyp may not head in the right direction musically and sonically sometimes, they still listen to criticism and try to improve. like nmixx for example. they were literally known as the group with the messy debut but now theyโre known as the best 4th gen vocal group. and obviously, i donโt know what goes on behind closed doors but it feels as though they put their artists first. little things like allowing their artists to go on hiatus when they need a break or feel anxious. other companies howeverโฆ. yikes also jyp take live vocals seriouslyyyy. i love watching itzy and nmixxโs stage practices, such a smart and unique way to showcase their talents.

2024-10-16 19:11:47 +0000 UTCI really was not expecting to like this album, really just because I hated gold on first listen ( I like it now ) The sound that they chose to go with really works for them and is just really pleasing to my ears. I also realized that Liaโs voice is a huge part of itzyโs musical identity, at least imo. Ryujin surprised me too as I didnโt like her singing very much before, I didnโt hate it but I just felt that she sounded like singing was a bit difficult for her. (That wasnโt meant to sound mean ๐ ) but now in these songs I loved her tone and she seemed to be struggling less and developed some skills and stability. Also, not related to the album but I would love to see chaeryeong focus on developing her voice more. I do love her voice and she def can sing but Iโd love if she had a bit more body to her voice. Anyways, this is just overall a great project and this gives me a lot of hope and excitement for the future of itzy โผ๏ธ

I do love the "it's like gold" pre-chorus, I just hoped those synths(?) continued for the whole chorus. I'll give the rest of the album a listen as you say it is very much worth it. But, the best news is Lia's return tho. She seems nice and went through some shit.

Normally Itzy for me are a group I check out for choreo only but this hit! Agreed on how they definitely should have done pre-releases though, they could really have milked the Lia comeback. I feel like they did some for their most recent comeback though, so maybe there's more videos coming?? ๐คท๐ผโโ๏ธ 8:44 I totally agree about the choreo, it's almost there - in my head i'm kinda picturing what NCT 127 did with Walk where it's not as fast and small, precise moves, it's more about the groove and vibe and feeling it out, and then 10:23 I picture XG left and right in the last chorus/outro! Very intrigued to see where they go from here too!

2024-10-16 05:11:06 +0000 UTCI'm happy with every ITZY comeback. I'm not saying that because they are my ultimate girl group. ITZY never changed me musically, IMO, nor did their concept ever change. There has only been one TT that I had to warm up to, and that was "Loco." As far as album-wise, the only album I had to warm up to was "CheckMate," but I loved "Sneakers." It was the B-sides I had to warm up to. Since their debut, their music has been controversial. People said Dalla Dalla would flop; people hated ICY, Wannabe, Not Shy, and on and on. I just learned to block it out and not let people sway me. Now, those are the songs that are so loved. All in all, I'm a happy Midzy. OT4 held down the fort until Lia returned, and Lia returned with a vengeance. I can understand why they picked "Gold" as the title track. People were being trolls even during Lia's hiatus, saying ITZY did "Born to Be" cause she was gone, and they could finally have hard choreography again. Lia shut people up.

There were parts of it that was very reminiscent of old Beyonce/Destiny Child especially the instrumentals during the "it's like gold...day and night...something something" part. I may not seek it out but if it comes up on Auto Play I probably won't skip it! Those beat drops slap in the car! Anyways, yes Lia! Welcome back girl!

It sounds like they just put her voice on top of the songs. I listened to the last album so much that I can tell they didnโt rly intergrate her voice with the music.

2024-10-15 23:58:45 +0000 UTCFor whatever reason the video player has just offed itself halfway through this but I figured I had to make a comment anyway while everything is fresh on my mind. I wasn't really going to check this album out but did it anyway based on your response to it and I'm so glad I did, fuck me. Itzy have always frustrated me, they have exactly one song that really worked for me in a huge way so I was stoked to dive into them, but nothing else I ever explored landed remotely the same way. Eventually I just kind of gave up looking, but they've really hit on something here. There's something about this both in terms of the sound and just the development in general that gives me the same kind of level up feeling that IVE's Switch did earlier in the year. As a sidenote, Lia's opening verse in Imaginary Friend is what hooked me as well and I kept replaying it because I didn't know why I was so stuck on it beyond it just being a good part, but I finally figured out that I think her delivery in that is giving me shades of Kate Bush which is something I never thought I would say about k-pop.
