YVES Mini Album Review

WOAH!

Was not expecting such a fresh sound and solid execution with a nice variation in terms of genres. Her vocals also surprised me when she was belting a bit more, great placement and tone.

I think we have a great new soloist on our hands!

Enjoy

I hope you can react to some of her live performances for Diorama and Afterglow! Tysm for checking her out 🥹💗

I love that we've been getting more young or young-ish soloists in kpop, even coming out of groups. Obviously in the 2010's, there was always IU, and Taemin started his solo career really young, and way back in 1st gen. female soloists were really popular, but for past 10 yrs or so, I feel like young soloists were rarer bc that type of individualism was thought to be not as marketable unless they were REALLY popular. Which is probably still true, but it's always nice to have a diversity of talent in any way, specifically in pop.

Had a feeling you'd like this more than some of the ARTMS stuff. Yves' tone is just really warm and pleasant to listen to. Glad she's experimenting with different genres as well, since she's definitely got a lot of versatility. Think I recommended Heejin and Chuu's solos from last year before as well, but hope you get a chance to check those out soon!

I remember spotting her dancing in the butterfly video that Ola reacted to I think! She's the only member whose name I was super familiar with!

Glad you are appreciating the LOONA girls! For some background (as I always do on your LOONA reactions 🤭) Yves is basically THE dancer in LOONA. They didn't have official poisitions but she was pushed to be their main dancer. She also got quite a bit of lines in LOONA songs because of her vocals and the fact that she has great mid-range belts, which are kinda under-showcased in this EP but we got a taste of them!
