Ariana Grande - Eternal Sunshine Album Review

One thing about Ariana, her music is good and her voice is GORGEOUS and that's where the praise ends I fear.

I was definitely curious to check this out myself but I'm glad I did because now I have a solid understand of where I stand with her and why I've never stanned.

She doesn't sub-vert my expectations nor does she sound as present and passionate and dynamic as I would like, it's all more of the same through out, carried by her amazing tone. The production also doesn't vary much and relies on sonics I would already expect from her which is where I start to lose interest and excitement. Though her voice has matured in some ways, I don't think her sound really has developed nor has she explored new themes lyrically or production wise unlike her contemporaries like Miley, Billie or Dua (who is starting to plateau now also).

All things considered though I think it's a good body of work, a solid B however I'd be lying if I said I'm obsessed with anything on her nor did it feel inspired or new.

Enjoy!

Haha i may do but i don't love the new song so we'll see!

help this made me realize i need you to react to FLO's album when they release it; but also i loved this album a lot and kinda felt similarly to you in the sense of more harmonies with depth, like i wish tayla and victoria were somewhat present bc TUN is my fave album from her which they played a big part in.

Yah, Imperfect For You I think was my favorite from the album. The chorus was so nice and it felt like the perfect concert song to scream to, in the way that's organic, and not boring or too annoyingly repetative, if that makes sense. But I liked don't wanna break up again and eternal sunshine the most lyrically. If you ever want a rec Washing Machine Heart, Happy, Thursday Girl by Mitski, Hush, by The Marias, are some of my favorite quiet voiced synthpop of all time.

Irene

I watched her interview with Zane Lowe, and it was interesting in regards to "the boy is mine" and "yes, and?" bc she said flat out that they were a bad idea, but her audience really liked fantasize and she felt like the pop audience wants bad girl anthem. Idk why it was chosen, it's seemed like it was a money fuelled choice, so idk whose decision it was... but maybe it's also the only way she knows how to provacative.

Irene

yay i like to hear your thoughts on non kpop albums too! I kinda find this album ok? like its not wow but it has some cute bops. The lyrics tho are surface level, feels like she's whisper singing throughout the album and i feel like if you told me im listening to the positions album i would believe you because its really the same sound lol

i think eternal sunshine is a great album overall but i don’t get why people think it’s her best

i also really liked the first half of the album, but then i hate the second half. tiktok is gaslighting me into thinking yes, and is ok but it's really not. however one big issue for me is how tone-deaf the lyrics are..
