Come hither, swellulites; the July update is upon us - for paid patrons only!
Welcome back, friends! I have returned from a treacherous month of editing Carltons. Earlier today, I posted a sneak peek at one of the Fesh Pince 4 scenes I've been working on this month. Click here to check it out if you're interested!
Sections are labeled for your convenience, and there is a tl;dr at the end that sums up all the important info.
Alongside all my usual editing duties for FP4, this month I also worked on a gag based on the opening credits of FPoBA. It's still a WIP, but you can watch some of it in the sneak peek I shared earlier today. Click this link if you're interested!
I'll talk a little about my process behind creating that scene, but I'll avoid directly mentioning anything that was in the sneak peek, since I know some of you would rather go into FP4 clean without spoiling anything.
I considered not doing a FPoBA intro gag this time around because I had already exhausted a lot of the potential jokes for it - but since every installment of Fesh Pince so far has included an intro gag, it felt wrong not doing one for FP4. I spent a LOT of time scouring through the opening, experimenting with potential wordmixes, and brainstorming ideas. So many of my ideas sounded good on paper, but didn't work due to how the dialog was spoken. I'll give you an example: I wanted Will to say "My mom ate the house." and I intended to get it by using the "8" and "house" from the verse "I pulled up to the house at about 7 or 8" - but sadly, his wonderful words were slurred, causing the wordmix to be incomprehensible even with the various tweaks I tried.
I had planned to expand my repertoire by sourcing some of Will Smith's other music videos from the late 80s, since they were very similar to the Fresh Prince intro in terms of style and flow. I experimented with them quite a bit, but every time I tried splicing something from those music videos with the Fresh Prince opening, it felt off. I primarily worked with the song "Parents Just Don't Understand" and in that song, the instruments were really loud and clunky - making the sentence mixing hard to understand.
I decided to take things a step further and looked into programs that separated vocals from instruments in music. Unfortunately - with how loud the instruments were - the vocals still sounded a bit strange. I tried to make it work, but it just didn't jell with the audio from the Fresh Prince intro. Every wordmix I attempted was incomprehensible. I eventually had to scrap that idea, and focus on editing the Fresh Prince opening in isolation, which resulted in the scene I showcased in the sneak peek - which, as I said, is still a WIP.
I will say that I'm glad I found a suitable program for extracting vocals, as it will likely come in handy for future nideos. Despite not yielding great results for the Will Smith song, it still works great for other songs I tried it on. It'll also be helpful for those pesky scenes where music is drowning out a character's dialog that I want to use for wordmixing.
Reminder about the delay for FP4 in relation to future nideos:
My next nideo after FP4 won't take nearly as long to complete as FP4 is taking. It's very important for me to make sure FP4 lives up to the legacy of the previous installments, so I'm taking as much time as necessary to come up with worthy edits, and to polish the hell out of it. FP4 is also significantly longer than my usual nideos - adding to the delay. After it's complete, I'll focus on nideos that are a more reasonable length, and my upload cadence will be more reasonable.
Here's a random screenshot from FP4:
Updates:
Not sure what content to share with you swell patrons for August, but I'll come up with something.
New Patreon Content for June:
-TBD!
Future Nideo Plans (for sure happening):
-Roseanne YTP (coming up after FP4, some work is already done on it)
Just ideas, not guaranteed:
-Fesh Pince Junior (shorter mini Fesh Pince installments)
-New nideos of sources that I used in the past
-Miscellaneous new stuff that I've been fiddling around with on the side (anything could happen!)
Not too bad of a month seeing as how it was my birthday month. Check out this picture I created:
It's me and my pal Soulja Boy celebrating our shared birthday by watching The Emoji Movie, which came out on our birthday. Happy belated EmojiMovieversary, everyone!
Well, that's that! Back to the ol' editing mines. Once again, thank you fine stylish folks for sticking by me. Your support means the world to me, and a few other planets too. It gives me the motivation to keep on editing when my smiles become scarce. See ya next month, swelligators!
-Did my usual, general edits and improvements to FP4, and worked on a gag for the opening credits of Fresh Prince. Click here to check out a preview of it!
-Reminder: Once Fesh Pince 4 is complete, I'll be uploading nideos at a more reasonable pace. FP4 is long as heck, and needs extra time in the oven to maximize smiles.
-Future Nideo plans after FP4 remain the same - recap up above!
-Patreon content for July TBD!
