February is about to perish, so it's time for the monthly update - for paid patrons only!
Hey, swell folks! Welcome to the latest update post. Had some Februarian struggles, but also some good progress this month. In case you missed it - I posted an old abandoned Snagglepuss nideo for you paid patrons. Check it out here!
Sections are labeled for your convenience, and there is a tl;dr at the end that sums up all the important info.
For the most part, I've been able to keep up the accelerated pace with my FP4 editing, save for one unfortunate setback that is detailed in the section below (More Stupit Computer Issues.) It's been the usual progress - i.e., not much to disclose that isn't spoiler-y, but I will say that the section I had been stuck on from last month is in a much better state - and I've made excellent progress in refining, expanding and making new additions across the board.
I spent some time stuck on things, as usual - but my efforts have largely paid off. I also went back to work more on the assets for the "Patreon Credits" section of the nideo. I'm very excited with how that is turning out. I am getting a little antsy not being able to share some of my new edits, so I'm thinking another short "Patreon Sneak Peek" may be in order for you swell sweethearts.
Reminder about the delay for FP4 in relation to future nideos:
My next nideo after FP4 won't take nearly as long to complete as FP4 is taking. It's very important for me to make sure FP4 lives up to the legacy of the previous installments, so I'm taking as much time as necessary to come up with worthy edits, and to polish the hell out of it. FP4 is also significantly longer than my usual nideos - adding to the delay. After it's complete, I'll focus on nideos that are a more reasonable length, and my upload cadence will be more reasonable.
Here's a random screenshot from FP4:
I'm going to give some lengthy details on my situation, but I'll provide a simplified recap at the bottom of this section if you want to skip to that.
In one of my past update posts, I mentioned that my specific CPU model was known to have overheating/voltage issues. Even though I hadn't had any issues (aside from one random blue screen crash while editing) I decided to investigate further to ensure my CPU wasn't degrading. I downloaded a program to keep track of my CPU temperatures and voltages. I noticed that the numbers were a bit high even while idling, so I decided to test out a few things to see how things were under load. I noticed that while rendering edits, the temperatures went over 200 °F - which is dangerously high.
Many motherboard manufacturers put out BIOS updates that were intended to combat these overheating issues for intel CPUs, but after doing extensive research, I was skeptical of how well these updates would work. Some people said it fixed their issues, and other people reported that it exacerbated them. I also heard about people experiencing mixed results from BIOS updates in general. Despite all this, I decided it was in my best interest to at least try. I updated my BIOS, then tweaked some settings - and for a while, I had lower temperatures and voltages without any issues.
However, after roughly a week, my PC began to randomly restart while idling. The strange thing is - this would only ever happen when I wasn't in the room. I'd leave the room with my computer on, then I'd come back later and find my computer on the lock screen. I know for sure it fully restarted, because all the startup programs would load up, and my previously open windows would be closed. This would sometimes happen multiple times a day.
I spent several days troubleshooting the issue, trying various methods to make it stop. I feared that my CPU was already degraded and I would have to buy a new one to swap it out with. However, yesterday I tried something new - I disabled the C-States in my BIOS settings. Since C-States activate when the computer is idling, I thought that maybe they were causing the restarts.
I can't say for sure that my issues are resolved, but I have not had any restarts since disabling the C-States. I'll remain cautiously optimistic for the time being, and update you all in my post next month. While these issues did cut into my editing time, I was still able to make decent progress on FP4 this month.
Simplified Recap:
So essentially, my CPU was overheating due to a defect from idiot Intel. I updated my BIOS to try to fix the issues, and for a while things were fine - but then suddenly my computer began randomly restarting while idling. I spend days trying to figure out a fix - then yesterday I tried disabling C-States in the BIOS, and so far I haven't had any crashes. I'll have to wait and see if that truly did stop the crashes, but I remain cautiously optimistic. I'll let you all know next month if things are resolved. This did cut into my editing time, but I still was able to make good progress on FP4 nonetheless. Thanks a lot stupit idiot Intel.
Updates:
I'm thinking another brief Sneak Peek at FP4 is in order; I'm eager to share some new edits with you swell sweethearts! The nideo is long as hell anyway, so I figure - why not share more?
New Patreon Content for February:
-Another short Fesh Pince 4 Sneak Peek
Future Nideo Plans:
• For sure happening:
-Roseanne YTP (coming up after FP4, some work is already done on it)
• Just ideas, not guaranteed:
-Fesh Pince Junior (shorter mini Fesh Pince installments)
-New nideos of sources that I used in the past
-Miscellaneous new stuff that I've been fiddling around with on the side (anything could happen!)
So, was February better for me than January? I guess, sort of. On the nideo side of things - aside from the PC issues - progress was good. In terms of real life shit, I had quite a few idiotic events to contend with - including the aforementioned computer issues. Despite all that, I defeated February with only a few bruises. Assuming my computer issues are fixed (fingers crossed) I will be back to working on Fesh Pince full force until that cutie is FINISHED.
Once again, thank you all for your patience. Regardless of any frustrations I may encounter, it is a gift to be able to work on these silly nideos and be supported by all of you while I do so. Tonight, I will click on my "Audience" tab on Patreon, and give each one of your names a loving, platonic kiss.
-Fesh Pince 4 progress still going dang well. Had a few interruptions due to some obnoxious issues with my PC randomly restarting, but I may have figured out a fix, and I will update you all next month on whether the issues are resolved.
-Reminder: Once Fesh Pince 4 is complete, I'll be uploading nideos at a more reasonable pace. FP4 is long as heck, and needs extra time in the oven to maximize smiles.
-Posted a scene from an old abandoned Snagglepuss nideo for you paid patrons. Check it out here!
-Future Nideo plans after FP4 remain the same - recap up above!
-I'll be sharing another brief Sneak Peek at FP4 with all you swell sweethearts next month!
