Funny thing is Daenerys isn't far off. Royals who're expected to do stuff actually have very little freedom. It's part of why the Windsor Royal Family is as fractious as it's been. Queen Elizabeth literally fucked over her own sister marrying who she loved to due to "Propriety" and rightly got her ass torn off by her when she allowed her own daughter to marry hers years later. It, iirc, was one of Elizabeth's biggest regrets until the day she died that she'd fucked up her sister's life like that, but she'd been shoehorned by "Royal Protocol" into having to do it.

I talked a lot about how dirty Cait got it in the show vs the books and how a lot of characters get whitewash, or how Sansa went from a main character to barely a C Plot side character from book to show. It only gets worse from here
