HP: Is It Wrong To Be A Sociopath In Magical World? [ Chapter 23 ]
Added 2024-12-13 13:14:20 +0000 UTC"I swear you should have been in Ravenclaw, this is the second year text book for magical history. You don't even go to the bloody class most days, it's sodding unfair that you're still in the top five for the class. I don't even know how you manage that."
I didn't say anything for a moment wondering how I should explain that I've figured out that we take a test on a very strict but hard to follow schedule that I've mapped out to know when I can just skip days that nothing of interest will happen.
After a moment I decided to not say anything to keep the mystery alive and instead said.
"The hat thought about it, but my personality is much more suited for Slytherin no matter how smart I am." He muttered something, but I still caught it enough to catch the words 'got that right at least' I smirked a little to myself as I looked at the charm to grow out hair, and the counter for it.
Blaise must have gotten to know me well enough to see the look in my eyes before I could mask it as he slowly backed towards the door.
I mean, why would I test it on myself when I have someone else nearby to try it out on instead?
….
Today was Halloween which means I'm not allowed to sit with my 'lions' as Blaise always referred to them as, though at the moment I wasn't focused much on the kid to my left, no I was thinking about what I was missing.
I mean clearly I know something is about to happen, hell I can even remember the build up to the events itself but what I can't bloody remember, which I blame from the fact that I haven't slept in a few days and was beginning to feel really loopy, was what the monster was in the first place.
But there wasn't really anything I could do so at the moment to kick start my mind into remembering whatever it was, so I just moved back into focus of what was happening around me as Blaise had started talking about something that I didn't hear at the start of.
Turns out to not be all that important, he was just complaining about our Defense class, again.
"Honestly, that man assigns way too much homework for his students, especially when I, nor anyone else can even understand half of his lessons, and that's on a good day no less!"
It was dinner at the moment, and because we had just come back from said Defense class a few hours ago, he was looking over at the parchment that was laying in front of him.
I noted the main reason as to why he was upset.
The bottom half was about the basics of dealing with vampires. I think Quirrell almost passed out during that lesson from 'fear', muchless tell us anything that we could use to answer those questions.
"This is why I self study" He looked sharply at me before saying in a deadpan voice.
"You don't self study, that would mean you look at only what you need for classes that don't have the best professors to teach you, you on the other hand read ahead in literally everything imaginable.”
“I'm pretty sure at this point, you could teach that class with more comprehensiveness for its students than Quirrell does at the moment, and that's saying something."
Well, that's probably true, but mostly because I really have found this class to be very interesting recently, the professor notwithstanding, the magic itself is really neat, and I have a really nice natural understanding of it all.
My most recent studies in the subject have been around creatures, because I knew Halloween was coming up, not that it does me any good at the moment, so the questions about vampires wasn't all that difficult at all.
"You're just upset that you don't know the answer to what are the three main characteristics of a vampire" He gave me another look before saying to me, with a completely false pleading look in his face and said.
"Oh yes, if only I had a friend nearby that was completely obsessed with learning about all this stuff and could help me." I rolled my own eyes in an obvious way, before telling him with a voice that had feigned ignorance.
"Yeah, that would certainly be helpful for you." He gave me a look before I just decided to give him another look telling him that I was expecting something. After a moment Blaise sighed out like he was being ringed out for answers.
"We are friends aren't we?" He actually looked like the words almost made him ill, but I didn't say anything for a moment before smiling a little to myself, before acting like the news was surprising to me.
"We are? I could have sworn you said that I was just a source of entertainment, something about being a wildcard I believe." He held back a groan to himself before finally saying to me.
"Yes...we are...friends!" Those words out of his mouth just sounded as forced and unwanted as I was expecting, so I gave him a smile, which he just leaned away from before saying to him.
"Oh, in that case the three main characteristics are the elongated fangs in their mouth, the incredibly pale tone of their skin, and their nocturnal nature."
He gave me a nod, glad to finally have gotten a proper answer from me about the paper. As he continued to write down that information while also giving him some more bits of information to fill out the parchment a bit more.
Though before I could go back to eating, even if I've already eaten enough to pass me by, I was interrupted as a small crash sounded from the front of the hall.
Looking up, I noted that the great hall main doors, which had been closed for some reason, opened as said professor in question, Quirrell, sprinted out from the entrance and was making his way to the other professors and the headmaster.
And with that pandemonium sprung out around me as Quirrell informed us all that a troll was in the school, just fucking brilliant.
