I suspected that Fire blade and Alex were linked, and, while it is an unexpected linking, it may turn out to be for both of their benefits... I am, however, curious; has it been determined whether the Loroi and Humans are genetically compatible? I would suspect that there maybe a significantly higher chance of this, as there is apparently sufficient similarity in mental function that Alex and Fire blade were able to establish a mental link...

I'm sorry I'm late to the party but I have a theory. 1. Reason why fireblade is of a different hue is because yes he is tied to her she went the deepest into his mind when they were first examining him and as such she triggered something inside of him so now I believe that he is tied to her in some kind of telepathic expression. 2. I believe also that the reason why he can sense inanimate objects and things of that nature is not through just telepathy but because fireblade has telekinesis it a combination of the two. I think it's more so similar to (Toph from avatar). How she could sense by using vibration to sense her surroundings I think using telekinesis in conjunction with the psionics he can sense the location of objects just like how one would use telekinesis to feel and move objects that you see, he can now see them using a combination of telekinesis and psi ability. I'm not convinced that he's picking this up from some kind of broadcast... I think maybe Enzin is seeing this all on his own, after having been exposed to so much telepathy, and being in a highly suggestible waking dream state... :p

Ahh reminding me of another favorite set of Blue Skinned aliens . The Faey from he Subjugation books, they are a female dominated alien species with telepathy and other psionic abilities. One of the key elements of the books are the Faey invade and subjugate Earth because of their telepathic abilities and total lack of them from humans make any resistance impossible. The kick is a substantial number of humans can start expressing telepathic abilities when exposed to telepathy in "social" settings. It's a ability that is dormant till stimulated. All the Loroi trying to read his mind initially might be activating a latent talent Google Subjugation Universe and the weavespinner.net site if you like.

Word of god is that sensing matter telepathically is possible, though rare and typically an ability with a range under a meter. Also it's a purely separate thing, telekinses itself does not 'come with' any sense of feedback or touch. If Fireblade pastes you, she feels nothing ;)

I don't see why Telekinesis couldn't pick up inanimate objects.

hehe. I still don't think that Fireblade being the only golden hued Loroi is simply a matter of power or the loroi around him should be gradated by power in hue..and yet they are all relatively the same shade... but Fireblade is demonstrably different. 'shrug' "The Heart Knows what it wants!" :)

I'm pretty sure telepathy can't pick up inanimate objects. If Alex can sense them he will be a most useful counter to the Umiak invasion. Just hook him up to one of those farseer amps and watch him go.

Seems like Alex is receiving everything that Fireblade is 'broadcasting', including the mental deductions that she picks up from everything she senses. However, one thing is still missing: Where is Tempo and most importantly: what happened to Cloud? EDIT: Also at Arioch: Beryl's mental image doesn't seem to be holding something that isn't there :P
