Book 3.5 - Epilogue
Added 2021-04-07 11:15:45 +0000 UTCThis is the place where I will finish the third tome of my logs, and I must congratulate you for reading these words describing my brilliance, OK, just kidding… mostly.
Nevertheless, I feel with the ending of this part, that we have arrived at some kind of crossroads. Despite all the obstacles we had to face, it seems like it was an easy ride compared with what is in front of us.
As if all we went through was nothing but a way to prepare us for what is coming—the looming shadow of interstellar war. I may be some sort of a quasi-AI, a digital being, but I still consider myself as a member of the human race, and defending it is all that matters. Terms like an honorable fight, mercy, and being compassionate, are not something I can indulge in while thinking about this enemy. To protect my own I will cheat, steal, and show a side of myself that very few know to exist. To protect this solar system that birthed us all—I will do anything.
What the future ultimately holds, I don’t know. However, knowing what is coming and what I am willing to do to counteract it, the words spoken by J. Robert Oppenheimer echo through my mind like a ghost from Christmas Past.
“Now I am become Death, the destroyer of worlds.”
