The mother, casually leaning in the door, shows that she likes to have a little chat with her son after a long day at work. Your son doesn't like it as much as his reserved manner might suggest. In his opinion, he probably waited "too long" for her. Otherwise he would have run to her when she came and not waited on the couch. Paradoxically, the situation could also show the exact opposite. The mother who goes to work tries to explain to her son why she has to go. On the other hand, her relaxed attitude in the door frame speaks for me. The same applies to the switched-on light, which looks more like evening than extremely early morning. And last but not least, her clothed son. Otherwise he would probably still be wearing pajamas.
