2023-07-20 15:43:02 +0000 UTCI am glad to wake up and see these comments because listening to people basically having a private conversation about a ‘scene’, ‘millieu’, and ‘set’ was about the most alienating thing I’ve ever heard on Antifada. It sounds like a lot of NYC people who miss the fun they had in their 20’s deciding to build their own “quirky” personalities around esoteric and incoherent politics. It’s like a page 6 gossip column for micro/niche celebrities mixed with a conspiracy theory red-string cork board. The moment I have to start dissecting the sub-genre of ironic nazi I ran into at a party would probably be moment I start looking for listings of tar-paper shacks in the woods and getting out of NYC.

But that's a much hotter take than "who even are these people?" and I'm not totally prepared to defend it.
