We called them ghettoblasters here in the US too. Incidentally, one of my favorite James Bond jokes involves one. I was 11 years old in 1987 when The Living Daylights was released to theaters in the US, and my grandmother and uncle took me to see it. It was my first James Bond movie. It was the scene in Q's laboratory where he's giving Bond his gadgets for the mission and in the background one of Q's men walks by with a boom box on his shoulders listening to loud music then suddenly stops and fires a missile out of it at a mannequin. Q quips, "We call it a ghetto blaster!"
