Update 2 (23-Mar-2023): The fax line is now back in business! 🎉 Details and fax number below for anyone who missed out first time around.
Update 1: Alas it crashed overnight and is currently offline. Trying to fix now. But I have received 6 faxes from you guys up until now which is great. Many thanks!
Original post: Can you help me test my fax service? I'm crafting a major new video where I will explain various reasons for why I'm going to try turning off my email option for the public, and allow viewers to only message me by Fax! A BBS will also follow. (Business enquiries will still be accepted via email but will go to someone else initially.) This fax idea is not only very retro, but I believe it may help keep fax technology alive. Some countries' telcos are considering ending the requirement for companies to support faxing. So in part this video is to promote a "use it or lose it" effort.
But don't worry this change won't affect patrons at all. You'll always be able to direct message me. But from a view of general decluttering of life, as well as getting a little further removed from some of the nastier comments and general social media trollery (a problem for all creators), I am going to experiment with stepping away from social media somewhat, and maybe even turning off comments on some videos. (Patreon comments will always remain open on posts about new early access videos.)
I don't want to spoil the story for you, but I am in a position to test a fax service of sorts. The video itself will take you on a journey with some unbelievable twists as I set about trying to achieve a specific goal related to my own nostalgia from 1992 when I worked for The Blue Ribbon Soundworks providing tech support for their Amiga music software. More on that when the fax and video is ready for prime time!
For now I need your help testing the service. There are a few ways to do this, from real fax machines at home or at an office, to free web/app fax services, to local mailbox or FedEx stores etc.
If you are able, please send a fax to:
You don't have to put anything special, it can just say "Test from <your name="">". I'd want to know who sent it in case I have a technical query related to its reception. But I might film faxes that arrive too for that video, so feel free to say more if you wish it to possibly be shown on camera. Your call. Literally! ☎</your>
If you have any problems please comment below if you don't see the same issue already reported below. The service may not work perfectly due to a few factors. Again no spoilers ;)
Fax you very much!
