About AI Upscales
Added 2022-11-16 19:10:25 +0000 UTCWhile I continue work on a major new video that I think is my favourite ever, I take a bit of time out to play with AI Upscales from time to time. An oft-requested one is the best commercial of all time - Keeping Up With The Commodore.
But the thing about these upscales is, poor quality in, poor quality out. The Bjรถrk one worked so well because the original was of satisfactory quality. Not great, but not awful. However the original available on YouTube for Keeping Up is really bad quality. Highly compressed, blurry, almost impossible to work with.
I have done an upscale and compression reversion, but I'm sharing it only with you guys here. If I posted it publicly I suspect I'd get a ton of "This isn't as good as Bjรถrk - try harder!" kind of comments. But here where I can explain it to more intelligent folk, it is at least fun, and so far, the best version we've seen. (You must be highly intelligent because you decided to join our Patreon, right?!)
I hope you enjoy this even if it isn't ready for primetime. But give it a year or two I reckon and it might be...
Thank you for your ongoing support ๐๐น๏ธ

No problem. The latest Topaz update has much simplified settings and allows several test renders simultaneously. Start with recommended then tweak sharpness and other settings higher until things get unnatural. Have fun!

2022-12-06 21:12:23 +0000 UTCSource material for now has to be fairly good quality. If you can see a clear face and your mind can interpolate that into how the person looks, so can the AI. If itโs really blocky and detail is lost, it likely will look very artificial when it tries to guess the contents of each frame.

2022-12-06 19:06:51 +0000 UTCDo you reckon the show bad influence could be upscaled this way? It was a great show back in the 90s but by God the YouTube versions are blocky!!
